Hey guys! I’ve had such a great Saturday so far!! I got to start my morning off with a breakfast date at Starbucks with one of my best friends, Heather. We’ve been best friends since way back in Kindergarten, when we met at kindergarten screening day and she thought my name was Melanie! We actually ended up living in the same neighborhood, 2 houses down from each other up through the end of high school.
Here’s a picture of us from my luau birthday party last year (hey, gotta perk up the January birthday somehow!)
I decided to try something new at Starbucks for breakfast this morning. Usually when I go there, I crave something sweet, with lots of icing or crumble toppings. But today, savory was calling my name so I went with it.
I got their Egg White, Spinach, & Feta Wrap, which was filled with all the obvious, plus tomatoes. It was REALLY tasty, especially for only 280 calories. Granted, it didn’t have too much staying power, since I was hungry about 2 hours later.
Along with my breakfast, I indulged my sweet tooth with one of my absolute favorite Starbucks treats: a “skinny” Caramel Macchiato. The reason I order it “skinny” is because it’s easier than having to ask for “non-fat, sugar-free”! If you’ve never had one, it’s basically a vanilla latte, topped (or “marked” – hence the “macchiato” term) with caramel. It’s DELICIOUS! Heather and I had a really nice time sitting and chatting for about 2 hours. I hadn’t realized that it was about the end of January since I had last seen her!
So after breakfast, I came home and cleaned up a bit for my next round of a girl’s Saturday! YAY! My 4 best friends from college and I always try to get together at least once a month to catch up, hang out, and just have a good time. We all live scattered about an hour away from each other, so it’s not super convenient to get together just whenever we feel like it. Luckily, we’re all planners!
For lunch, I suggested that we hit up Flavour Cafe, which I had mentioned last weekend in my previous post. Not only do they have delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches, but OH-EM-GEE was today’s lunch fabulous!
I ordered (along with the rest of us!) their Chicken Foccaccia, which is chicken brushed with basil pesto, tomato compote, mozzarella, & basil pesto mayo on grilled foccaccia bread. We all also got a side salad (aka, mixed greens) with balsamic vinaigrette on the side.
Mmmmm, just look at the gooey goodness! YUMM!! None of us could stop raving about how delicious everything tasted. It was definitely a good choice!
The 5 of us had a great afternoon hanging out, catching up, and watching our wedding video! Jay and I got it a couple weeks back, so I was really excited to have the girls see it, since they were all in the wedding (obviously!).
Here’s a picture of us all from my wedding day! Awww, I just adore these girls!
So pretty soon, Jay and I are heading out for dinner & drinks with our friends Brian & Mal. We’re going to introduce them to a tapas & wine bar that we just checked out for the first time a few weeks ago and LOVED. I’ll be back later with a recap! Hope you’re all having just as good of a Saturday!
