After getting my oil changed in my car (which is always such a joy – but hey, at least I got some reading done!) I headed to the gym for a kick-butt workout! (I decided to save my trip to the mall for another day.) I did 30 minutes interval running on the treadmill, mixing 2 mins @ 6.4mph and 2 mins @ 7.0-7.5mph, and covered just about 3.2 miles. Then I hopped on the elliptical with my Shape magazine and did another 30 minutes of intervals, covering just under 3 miles. I like to switch up my strides when I use the elliptical, going both forward and backward; I think it gives you a better workout and hits more of the muscle groups in your legs.
By the time I got home from the gym, I was still sweaty and STARVING. Despite the yucky weather, I was now in the mood for something cool and fruity…
A Strawberry-Banana Smoothie!!
Today’s smoothie included:
-1 frozen ripe banana
-5 whole frozen strawberries
-1/2 cup Silk Pure Vanilla Almond Milk
-1 scoop Strawberry Whey protein powder
-splash of H20…and then another ice cube since the water thinned it out too much!)
I seriously LOVE these things…I think I could drink them everyday if I didn’t have to clean my blender every time!
On the side, I also had 2 carrots & some grape tomatoes with roasted red pepper hummus.
My “smoothie” goes right along with the “smooth sailin'” I’ve been feelin’ today! I just finished working on a photo book from our Wedding for my parents through Shutterfly. Tonight, I’m headed to my friend Kate’s bachelorette party!! Jay will be out at her fiance, Joe’s, bachelor party, so it should be a fun night for all! Time to go get ready and figure out what to wear!
