Tonight was SUCH a fun night!
As I mentioned earlier, Jay and I were heading out for a special celebratory dinner…so what was the occasion???…
Jay got a NEW JOB!! He’s actually going to be working back at his old job, but just in a different position. I am so happy for him, and I have a really good feeling that this is where he is meant to be. Sooo…it was a reason to CELEBRATE!
After what seemed like endless discussion back and forth today on where we were going to go, we finally decided on a place that we knew would be sure to please: Bellini’s.
Bellini’s is an authentic Italian restaurant which is often overlooked, due to it’s unique location right inside a shopping plaza. Nevertheless, despite it’s “different” location, the food and ambiance of this place certainly make up for any “qualms” anyone might have about where it is.
Jay and I arrived a little bit earlier than our “normal” dinner time, so we decided to relax at the bar and take advantage of their Happy Hour specials: 1/2 price drinks at the bar!
Jay ordered a beer, while I ordered a glass of Canstello Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio.
The wine had an intense, fruity aroma, but also finished with a clean, rich taste. It was a delicious wine (thanks, Ralph!) and was so good, it had me going back for a second glass
During Happy Hour, Bellini’s also puts out complimentary snacks…how cool, right? Today, they had out some fresh garlic toast accompanied by a olive tapenade.
Usually, I’m not a huge fan of olives, but I figured, hey, it’s free? Why not give it a try?
Well…I’m still not a fan of olives! lol
The bar had a really cool, relaxed atmosphere, so we decided to hang out there for a little while longer. We were in no rush!
Jay and I had a wonderful time sitting, chatting, talking about what the future holds, and enjoying each others’ company. Finally, we decided it was time for some FOOD!
After looking over the menu while sitting at the bar, we both already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. Bellini’s offers this awesome deal called ” Nino’s 1959 Supper Club”. It’s a 4-course menu which includes wood-fired mozzarella garlic bread, choice of soup or salad, any entree, and a mini dessert. All for between $20-$25! We were sold.
Before even ordering, our table was greeted with some fresh, warm italian bread with a pesto dipping oil. I only snagged a tiny piece off the end, but Jay said it was REALLY good.
For my salad choice (since you get to choose from ANY of them off the menu), I decided on the “Prodotto”
The “Prodotto” was pear, gorgonzola, dried berries, walnuts, mixed greens, red onions, and tomato.
It also came with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette, which I ordered on the side. This salad really was phenomenal. Considering I had a big salad for lunch, I wasn’t much in the mood for your typical “mixed greens” salad. But this combo totally hit all the tastebuds – sweet, savory, crunchy creamy, salty…yes, it was fab!
With our salad, we also got our mozzarella wood-fired garlic bread. All I will say is…I.LOVE.GARLIC.BREAD. I took the smaller piece, but still dominated it.
For my entree, I decided to go with something I wouldn’t normally cook for myself but I still love…salmon!
(Sorry for the funky shadow…Jay was being a funny guy!)
The “Salmone” dish was seared salmon and Mediterranean vegetables in a light Chardonnay butter sauce.
I am SO GLAD I ended up ordering this dish. The flavors of everything on this plate complimented each other so well. The salmon was cooked just perfectly, the flavor of the vegetables had an excellent garlic flavor, but wasn’t too overpowering. And the scoop of risotto that was served underneath the salmon fillet was out of this world.
Maybe it was the wine helping me, but I had no problem gobbling up this stuff! Jay, a self-proclaimed “seafood hater” tried it and even said that HE enjoyed it! So that way, you know it must have been good!
Jay’s dish was just as tasty – he ordered “Parmigiano” dish, which is pan-fried chicken cutlets, served over rigatoni with basil marinara and cream. The portion was SO BIG! He has 1/2 left for tomorrow
To finish off our 4 course meal, we were offered a few different choices of dessert: Cannoli, Homemade Mousse, or Gourmet Godiva Cupcakes….
Any guesses on what I ordered….?!?!
CUPCAKE!! I went with the Caramel cupcake, which was a yellow cake with a caramel Godiva frosting and Butterfinger shavings.
The cupcake was super moist, but not too sweet, which complimented the very sweet toppings perfectly. You could actually taste the Godiva Liquer, which was a pleasant surprise, since those flavors are often masked by massive amounts of sweet sugar. This was definitely a fab piece of dessert
Jay also went the cupcake route, but we decided on the Chocolate + Chocolate cupcake, drizzled with raspberry sauce. We both exchanged bites, and while his was yummy, I still liked mine a whole lot better!
Jay and I had such a fun time at dinner tonight! Not only is it great to get out on a Monday evening, but with something so exciting to celebrate, it made it that much better! I’m so proud of him!
(Please don’t mind the massive vein popping out of my forehead…no idea what was going on there!)
After dinner, we decided to make a quick pit stop to Sarah & Jeff’s new house to see how things were going. Their place was about 2 minutes down the road from Bellini’s, so we really had no excuse
We always have such a great time hanging out with these guys! While we were there, we all ended up trying to brainstorm what would be the best TV for their new family room…in the process, some shenanigans took place on the walls…
First, it started out with mapping out which will go better: 42″ or 50″? What do YOU think looks better?
Yes, and also on the walls was Jeff’s fabulous artwork – please take note: here is Sarah & I (me on left, Sarah on right…not sure what Jeff was thinking with Sarah’s wacky eyes!)
And here are Jeff & Jay…oddly enough with a heart above the 2 of them
I think it must have been a showing of their appreciation for fine TV’s lol
Overall, we had a SUPER night, and now it’s time to hit the hay!
Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! Don’t forget to partake in “Ask Me Anything” this week!
