Well good morning! I’m a little bit behind schedule this morning, due to almost a full hour of hitting the snooze button. The scary part is that I only remember hitting the button twice…woops.
First, let’s get you caught up on what you may have missed this weekend:
*****
Workout
So I don’t really know what my deal was this morning? I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have anywhere I need to go right away this morning (I think my subconscious must have been telling me to snooze). Either way, as soon as I eventually got my rear outta bed, it was time for a workout!
Over the weekend, I came across Tina’s upper body workout that she had put together. I really liked how it incorporated all moves using a stability ball, so I decided to use it in today’s plan:
- I started with my “Give It Your All” 20 Minute HIIT Workout
- Then I went on to complete 4 sets of Tina’s “Have a Ball” Upper Body Circuit
- I finished up with a few random ab moves and some deadlifts before calling it a day.
It was definitely a great Monday workout!
*****
So by the time I came up from the basement this morning, Jay had already left for work, but as I went into the bathroom to take a shower, I noticed a very special something on the mirror. That’s right my friends, today officially starts…
I’ve long been a huge proponent of celebrating for one full week leading up to the main birthday (January 30th). Jay hasn’t always been on board with birthday week, but it looks like my incessant hounding has finally gotten him to change his ways. Woot! ![]()
Breakfast
Since I went the eggs route both Saturday & Sunday this past weekend, I decided to switch it up and go with some oatmeal.
Today’s batch of voluminous pumpkin oats, topped with diced apple and some Love Grown Foods granola, seriously felt like it was never going to end. It was a foodie’s dream.
The coffee I’m currently sipping on is sort of “meh” because I totally forgot that we were still out of coffee and had to brew up some of our “emergency decaf” stash.
Any guesses where my first stop will be while out running errands today? ![]()
I’ve got a few things on the agenda today, but stay tuned for later this afternoon…I’ve got another giveaway headed your way that I’m pretty confident is going to be a good one!
Question for the Morning:
Do you think birthdays should be celebrated for more than one day (such as birthday week) or just kept to the one special day?

birthdays should ALWAYS be drawn out.
since my parents are in Florida for the entire month, I actually haven’t even celebrated mine with my family yet!
therefore, it’s birthday month. hop on, Court. I’ll bring you wasa cracker-oat-vitatop cupcakes.
..or maybe hold all the above and I’ll bring actual cupcakes. but I’m making you decorate them since you’re the pro.
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss recently posted..I Don’t Carry Purses
As tempting as your cracker-oat-vitatop offer sounds, I think I’d rather take you up on the cupcakes.
Don’t worry…I’ll take care of the frosting
I think birthdays should always be celebrated week long! Happy birthday week to you!!:)

Oh my Gosh I had to comment! We totally celebrate birthday week in our house too! And mine is coming up as well on January 27th! I think birthdays are the single best day of the year and totally deserve a whole week to celebrate! So sweet Jay put up a note for you…melt. Happy Birthday Week!
Happy Birthday Week to YOU, too!
You milk the week as much as you can- only come once a year , right!!!

Happy Birthday Week, Court!
I’ve been celebrating my bday week for as long as I can remember–mine was last week–I think everyones used to it by now. Glad Jay is now on board
Enjoy!!!
Happy Birthday week to you!!! Birthdays are the best, it’s a celebration of ones life…whats better than that?

Yes I totally do! I was just thinking about this…:) My birthday is Friday and I am going to do one super cool thing for myself everyday this week. Even if it’s just standing in front of the mirror and saying one nice thing about myself. This sounds selfish, but it’s something that I have been working on for a while now. Confidence. Plus, Friday I am going to enjoy CAKE!
Ok, how do you get your oatmeal to look so pretty??? Every time I take a snapshot of mine it looks like mush.
Can’t wait for the giveaway news later!! Have a great day! And get some coffee for the love of Pete!

Haha, thanks for the compliments on the oatmeal, Brandi.
And don’t worry…I got me some coffee today!
Happy Birthday week! Had to comment on the pics of the oats…lovely and clear and I also had to ask do you use/have daylight lamps or is that natural light? (Lack of natural light is my current and only blogging gripe!)
Michelle@PeachyPalate recently posted..Track Back
Thanks, Michelle! That’s actually all natural light (no special lights/lamps here). I turned off all the lights in the kitchen, which seemed really dark, but they turned out 10x better, especially after editing them quick. I’m so happy that you noticed!
I’m completely obsessed with the lighting at the moment! Had to mention it as I know it’s hard to get right!

I have a friend who celebrates his birth month! Any day in June, if we are deciding what to do for the day he says “well its my birth month so i want to…”. I usually go for it though since i am so indecisive in general!

happy birthday week!
my bday just passed and sadly was only one day and even that wasn’t anything ‘big’… dinner out with my daughter…but no gifts, no nothing…so yes bdays should be drawn out as long as possible…week or how about a MONTH
Birthday’s are meant to be longer than just one day! I usually celebrate it for at least a weekend. Happy birthday week!
One of my coworkers celebrates for an entire month and tells us every single day, so I think a week is NBD lol.
Lena @Fit on the Rocks recently posted..Long Run Sundays: Tea Party + The B Word
Love the idea of birthday week! As such, it must be appropriate to wish you a “Happy first day” in your special week!
My rule about birthdays has always been: they last as long as you can make the cake last. So I always take teeny tiny bites!
Lindsay @ Lindsay’s List recently posted..3 days of straight up fun
I always celebrate my birthday weekend. My birthday is may 27th, so it usually falls around memorial day weekend, so I spend the whole weekend celebrating! I think a week is fun too, it only comes once a year!!!
People always hate on b-day weeks for being narcissitic, but ya know what? Life is short. Celebrate yourself. If you don’t, who will? There’s never a wrong time to make yourself feel extra-special. Bring on birthday week!
Amen to THAT!
Happy Birthday Week Courtney! I’ll be celebrating a birthday weekend.
Now that my Giants are in the Superbowl on my birthday it’ll be a Friday-Monday celebration!
Hahah my birthday is in a little under a month, and I told my boyfriend this weekend that we’re going to start celebrating.
It sucks for him because he has my valentines day, my birthday, and our anniversary all in one week

This year I decided that it needed at least two days. One to go out to dinner and the other to go out for some dessert. There is never enough room to eat both in the same night, so spacing it out spoiled me twice! It only took me 26 years to figure that out!

First, Happy Birthday week!
We share a birthday week! Mine is the 24th. I don’t celebrate mine for the whole week but I know a lot of people that do. I’m not against it, and I have no problem with getting older but I am perfectly fine with just a simple Happy Birthday statement from people.

I think Birthdays should be drawn out, but my hubby does not think that. My birthday is the 31st (day after yours!)
I have done the same thing with the snooze button, thankfully on days I did not have to work. It is scary when you do not even realize you are doing it.
Have a great day!

Happy Birthday week to you! My birthday is in January too! I see that you are a CPT with NASM. I am too! Are you personal training now? I love it!
I prefer a Birthday Month – and since mine is at the end of March, it works out well for me.
we pretty much did the same exact workout this morning! i did a 20 min HIIT treadmill workout and then tina’s upper body workout 4x through as well… loved it!
i’m all about birthday weeks… or months?
happy birthday week my friend!

I am 100% about birthday weeks! My long-time boyfriend’s birthday is January 25 (it’s our 8th birthday of his we’ve celebrated-we too were 16 when we got together) so I have tons of stuff going on all week starting last night. I really like any reason to celebrate and I think birthdays should always be a big deal.
I’m excited to read about your birthday week! Also, I totally have an emergency decaf coffee stash too.

Birthdays should be a week. Why not??? Depending on what day your birthday is, you might not be able to fully celebrate that day, so you may as well make sure to get in some celebrating every day!
Happy beginning of your birthday week!!
