Last night was so much fun. Gotta love going out on a school work night for a little trivia action with friends!
Jay and I headed up to downtown Saratoga to meet up with our friends, Eileen & Dan, and Kathryn & Paul for trivia night. If you’ve got your detective eyes working this morning, you may notice that these booths look a little familiar – I told you we’d be back!
We all made sure to get there a little early so we could grab a good seat, some drinks, and dinner before trivia started. In keeping with the theme for the week, I ordered another blueberry beer.
I’m pretty sure that this one is still my favorite, and I had another one later in the evening to fuel me through trivia, too.
Being that this was already my second meal out for the week, with at least one or two more still on the agenda, I figured I should opt for something a bit healthier and take a break on the sweet potato fries.
I got their Mediterranean Salad, which came with artichoke hearts, red onions, cucumbers and tomatoes (which they forgot and I had to ask for), feta cheese, grilled chicken, hummus, and pita chips. Everything on the salad was great, but I don’t know about being $14.99 great…yikes.
Shortly after we finished dinner it was time to put on our trivia hats.
Honestly, I’m pretty awful at trivia, so I was quite proud of the fact that I was still able to contribute a few answers to the team…
- Paul McCartney’s daughter’s name – Stella
- Designer with red soled shoes – Christian Louboutin
- The Voice star with most Twitter followers – Adam Levine
There were four rounds for trivia last night, and our team actually ended up winning the 90’s music round. It was great – so many awesome old school songs were played, including “I Love You Always Forever” by Donna Lewis, which I had totally forgotten all about and used to LOVE. I gotta admit though…I was really hoping they were going to bust out some Tubthumping by Chumbawumba.
Ohhhh, the 90’s.
For winning that round, our table was awarded a free pitcher of beer, but this Dirty Penny Ale was definitely wayyy too heavy for my liking.
Blech. Not for me, thank you very much.

I have a short shift at work this morning that I’m headed out to, and then there’s a few other things on the to-do list to take care of. We’ll see where it all takes me for the day. Happy Thursday!
Question for the Morning:
Do you do well with trivia? What do you think would be your best and worst subjects?
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I miss trivia night – my friends and I would go in college, and the winners got giftcards to the bar – which meant we drank/ate for free most of the time!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
i think it was flannel night for the boys! :) very cute.
and a ’90s music challenge basically sounds like my dream night!
Khushboo Thadani says
I’m such a trivia nerd…can’t say I’m amazing at it but I do enjoy shouting out random answers with the hope that one will be right! I completely forgot about Chumbawumba- how fun is their name to say :)!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
i’m TERRIBLE at trivia! i sometimes get really random questions that happened to be in our third grade curriculum that i teach!
Michelle@PeachyPalate says
Best subject would be food! Worst would be sport (though I could name about 10 others I’d be hopeless at!)
Shannon says
I’m ok at trivia, not the best but definitely not the worst. My best subjects would be 21st century news or music or even food, but my worst would be things that happened before the year of 1996 (ya know ’cause I was born then). ;)
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I love that the guys all match in their plaid! So cute :) I love going to trivia. They have quizzo where I live and it’s so much fun!
Angela says
15 dollars for a salad!? thats nuts!
Alyssa @ fit and fun in third says
I’m great with trivia if it involves celebrities, but most other trivia answers I leave up to my husband! Quite honestly I just can’t stand the pressure!!!
Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction says
I’m terrible at trivia…I just don’t know random facts, or anything that they usually ask! Haha oh well!
Jamie says
I’m pretty good at trivia- sometimes- but I love it anyway!! The matching boys totally made me smile, that’s cute! : )
Renee @Bendiful says
90’s music trivia?! Where do I sign up?
I like that they guys called each other to decide what to wear! Congrats on the win!
Lena @Fit on the Rocks says
I’m really good at random bits of trivia, but I suck if it’s all on one topic. I can’t help that my brain only wants to remember tidbits from each lol
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I did a bar trivia night once before – it was fun but I am horrible!
Traci says
I found myself at a bar last night and saw that Blue Point blueberry ale on the menu – I totally tried it because of your recommendation and loved it! I think it’s my new favorite beer too. :)
Courtney says
Ahhhh, I love it! So glad you liked it!!
Traci says
It’s amazing! I usually never even keep beer at home and I might have to pick up some of this.
Courtney says
Haha…I’m warning you…that’s dangerous! ;)
Carolyn says
I am horrible with trivia…. absolutely horrible. I don’t think there is a single category that I am good / okay with.
Faith @ For the Health of It says
Oh man a 90s music trivia challenge would be THE BOMB! Drunk people + baby got back = epic hilarity.
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I’m not very good with trivia. :/ But I’d probably be best with pop culture topics … kind of like you! :)
Yellow Haired Girl says
I love trivia! I know a lot of random facts … that’s one of the only places where that knowledge is useful!
It looks like all the boys called each other before meeting up to plan matching outfits ;)
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
I am horrible at Triva unless it’s about tv shows, fromt he 80’s. :)
Alysia @ Slim Sanity says
I have yet to try a blueberry beer! Which one is your favorite?
I would probably be best at Harry Potter trivia… haha!! :)
Courtney says
I think the Bluepoint Brewery is probably my favorite – so good!!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
Im pretty good at geography type stuff or nature/sciene related things.
I love how all of the guys semi-match in their blue plaid shirts!
Megan (Braise The Roof) says
Dude, I was at a bar having dinner last night and they started randomly playing 90’s music, I turned to my friend and said, “I really hope they play Chumbawumba” and no joke, 10 minutes later it came on. Totally made my night. :)
Courtney says
Lucky!! ;)
Natasha says
this is a bit off-topic, but you are absolutely gorgeous! :) But to answer your question: I am awful with trivia!
Jillian @ Sprinkle Massacre says
My friends and I used to go to trivia night at my boyfriends restaurant all the time. We were bad though, we cheated with our phones! We won most of the time – first prize being a bottle of wine, can’t complain!
Carrie @ Lift Eat Repeat says
I’m a sports nut- I would know a ton of past sports trivia for sure! I’m horrible with music- I don’t know who sings what songs!
Kate says
I love trivia! I’m usually pretty good with American history and current events, but I’m totally lost on sports.
TheBloggersBrother says
LOVE THE PLAID…Did they honestly arrange that?
Courtney says
Hahaha, you’d think so, but no…
Julie says
Haha, I love the trivia answers you were able to contribute! My friends and I played trivia a lot this summer and I was known to answer the more “girly questions.” All the guys were stumped on the question, “who is the host of ABC’s the bachelor/bachelorette?” I got so excited because I knew it and thought it was so obvious that I blurted it out for the whole bar to hear…whoops!
p.s. all the boys in the picture match in their button up plaid shirts!
Nicole says
How fun! Was this at Irish Times by any chance? I just read a write-up about their Wednesday night trivia nights, and how it was the place to be! And by the way, I totally went to HS with Chad Koenig (the name on the trivia sheet)… I assume he was the host? Too funny!
Courtney says
Hahaha, YES, it was at Irish Times, and yes, that was the trivia host. Too funny! :)
Katy says
Chumbawumba and blueberry beer! Sounds like the perfect night!
Katie says
I love trivia! I’m not sure if you guys have a mellow mushroom up there (it’s a delicious pizza joint that has been doing a lot of expanding lately) but they have trivia that my friends and I often attend! If there’s one around you, I definitely suggest it!
Courtney says
We don’t have one…never heard of it!
Katie @ Plates and Paste says
I am so not good with trivia, but am pretty good about pop culture.
rob fiasco says
i’m hit and miss with trivia…i would kill it in 90’s pop music though.
