Memorial Day 2012: SO Much Fun!

Oh my gosh…I don’t know if I can even put into words how awesome today was.

There’s lots of pictures, so let’s start with that…

The first part of the day was pretty low-key. As our pals started to arrive, we all enjoyed some time in the sun, played some corn hole, sipped on a few adult beverages, and enjoyed some snacks by the pool.

As the afternoon went on, the heat definitely started to rise, so a few of us (aka, the boys) made it into the pool.

Games of H.O.R.S.E. were happening all day long…

Mom and Dad even stopped by for a little bit to say “Hi,” so I forced them all into a family portrait.

The day continued with more corn hole…

And a whole lot more fun.

Eventually, we heated up the grill and got working on some dinner.

We had lots of yummies for dinner!

Burgers, veggie burgers, turkey dogs, roasted potato salad (it was a hit – recipe to come this week!), and pasta salad.

Not long after dinner, it was time for dessert.

We had plenty of cookie bars to go ‘round…

But we also had a special little treat.

I was recently given the opportunity to try out some of these Nestle Drumstick cones, courtesy of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program.

As soon as I found out that I was going to get to try them, I knew I had the perfect crew to share them with…

As you can tell, they turned out to be quite a hit.

And my family is pretty hilarious.

I decided to get the “Lil’ Drums,” which I figured would be perfect for a day like today. I opted for the Vanilla Caramel Crunch flavor, and it was delicious.

I just love them…well, both the ice cream cones AND the people. Can’t you tell?

Not only are these guys awesome, but they even take fun, awkward pictures for me when I ask them to.

Gosh we’re corny…but we sure know how to have a good time!
