Alright, so Magic Mike? Ohhhh boy.
For those of you (aka, all of you) who told me that it really wasn’t that great of a movie, I’d have to agree. The story with the movie was awful…HOWEVER, who the heck would go to see that movie for the storyline…am I right?
I got what I went to pay for: a little eye candy on a lovely Monday afternoon and some QT with my girl Eileen.
By the time I got home from the movie, I really wasn’t in the mood to make our planned dinner, but we had some backup options so I wasn’t too worried. As I was looking through the fridge to figure something out, Jay turned to me and said, “Hey, I think one of your zucchinis might be ready to pick?”
SERIOUSLY?
I ran outside to scope out the scene…
I searched around a bit, and it didn’t take long to spot…do you see it?
A little closer now…
Look at that! I grew my first zucchini!
I’m sure this probably is not normal to be so excited about a zucchini, but considering the green black thumb that I have, this is quite the victory.
In addition to my whopper of a zucchini, there’s quite a few smaller ones getting ready, as well as some green tomatoes…
…and some more peppers plus a side of weeds.
So despite the fact that I have two zucchinis in my fridge right now that I bought from the store last week, I let them be and decided to cook up my brand new garden masterpiece to have with dinner.
I sliced and sautéed the zucchini with some garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Then, once they were all cooked through, I drizzled them with a little balsamic vinaigrette and let them cook for another couple minutes.
If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend it!
Along with the zucchini, I threw together a couple ham and turkey bacon wraps for Jay and I.
Mine was filled with the ham and turkey bacon, lettuce tomato, and honey mustard. Deeeee-lish.
Time to go clean up and hang out with the boys for the evening!

I need to plant a garden next summer, that will be my goal. I admit, the only reason I’d see the movie is for the eye candy. Who cares what the movies about when you get to see those hotties for a few blissful hours.

Congrats on the zucchini! For some reason, I’ve been so scared of starting a garden so I started off slow this year with some basil and a few tomato plants. I’m so excited – the first few little green tomatoes are starting to form! :)

How do you get Zookini to not be so watery when you cook it? No, thats not a typo, you’ve all been spelling it wrong this whole time…
Courtney says
Have you ever even tried to cook zookini, Mr. Spelling Bee?

I have to say, that zucchini looks great! Sauteed, it really is yummy! Great job on your garden. My mom and sister have green thumbs as well!
Rose Ann says
Did you also know that the flowers on the zucchini are edible & delicious!!! You can cut them up & put them in an omelet or you can make a batter, put them in & fry them up into little patties!!! Delicious…don’t let them go to waste! Italians love them…try it, you won’t be disappointed!!! :)
Courtney says
I’ve never heard of that before! What do they taste like?
Rose Ann says
They have a very mild taste but distinct. They perish quickly however so if you cut them off, plan on using them quickly! I bet pinterest has some ideas :) Let me know if you try them, I think you will be pleasantly surprised & I think they are pretty good for you too!!!
