So did all of my American friends have a fabulous 4th of July?
I had an absolutely great day. Jay and I spent the whole day up on Saratoga Lake with some friends and family. The weather was gorgeous so we spent the majority of our time either out on the boat or swimming in the lake. We had a BBQ for dinner with all of the usuals and I finished off the evening with one too many pieces of cookie cake.
I debated on making sure my camera and/or cell phone were with me all day so I could document everything, but then I decided to just let it be. As much as I love to snap photos and share my day to day life, sometimes it’s nice to just live in the moment too, ya know?
That being said, I had lovely holiday, and now it’s back to the grind today!
I have a client at 8 this morning which always tends to throw me off when it comes to breakfast. Should I eat before? After? Well this morning I’m not super hungry so I brewed some coffee and have been enjoying a cup while catching up on some emails.
I snacked on a banana and also have some snacks to bring with me, even though I’m sure I’ll probably stop over at Starbucks during my break.
The entire time I’ve been sitting here this morning, my furry friend has been having a field day in the hallway behind me.
Running back and forth, back and forth, up onto the bed, under the carpet runner…he’s nuts I’ll tell ya.
“Ready to attack!”
I love this guy.
Alrighty my friends, time to head off to kick some client boo-tay. In the meantime, I’m sure many of you didn’t get a chance to see the latest giveaway so be sure to check that out before I choose a winner this afternoon.
Catch ya later gators!
Question for the Morning:
When was the last time you truly sat back and lived in the moment?
Danielle@cleanfoodcreativefitness says
Not recently enough did I live in the moment! Sometimes you just need that disconnect and I bet you had a fabulous Fourth with loved ones while living in the moment! Thanks for the awesome reminder that we all need to do that more often!

I’ve said it before but I love that you always prioritise life over blogging…SO important! Glad you had a great day and stopping after just one piece of cookie cake is not possible :)!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I actually just posted about this on my blog last week. I am really trying hard to live in the moment but outside stress make it difficult. I have been trying to take a step back, breathe and take in every moment. I am really trying to do that with everything involving my upcoming wedding.
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
I have been enjoying the moment much more lately. I rarely bring my big camera a long.. if something really cool happens, I just use my iphone to capture the moment.
I’d rather live the good life .. than photograph the good life :)

I have a question that is kind of off topic :) Do you weigh yourself regularly? I’m recently trying to eat healthier and drop a few pounds, and I’ve been weighing myself in the mornings. On days when I lose weight, it’s great motivation to keep going. But when I don’t lose any weight, it can be frustrating. I don’t want to obsess over a number, but I want to give myself a goal. I appreciate any advice!
Alysia @ Slim Sanity says
I didn’t do much picture taking yesterday either…only for a new avocado recipe I’m posting :)

My blog doesn’t chronicle my daily life in any way, shape or form like yours does. I have been on the computer a lot lately and it’s mostly because it’s the summer time and I don’t have school anymore until the fall. I know I should cut back on my time but I think I truly lived in the moment when I didn’t blog about what I did yesterday. I just had fun at a BBQ with my dad and brother.

My cats have “crazy time” too and it’s hilarious. I have three cats, and two of them have regular crazy time. The third, lazy, fat, cat is what I call the “enforcer” because she only lets the crazy go on for a limited amount of time before she gets fed up and attacks a cat.

Props to you! Sometimes you have to put your camera aside and just enjoy :) That’s what I’m going to do at the beach in Maine this weekend!

Unfortunately I can’t even answer that question! Maybe a few days ago when I realized the year was officially half over?

I need to get better at it! This past weekend I did fairly good, baby steps :)

Cody obviously did his WOD, varying 10 CAMs (catch a mouse) and 10 RTAs (ready to attack)…. haha. :-)
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie says
This mini-vacay (Tuesday and yesterday), I sat back and lived in the moment. It was relaxing and great, but now back to reality!

I have been a lurker for a little while. But I gotta say I just love your blog. I am originally from upstate NY and spent many summers on Saratoga Lake. I love hearing about your adventures in upstate NY.
P.S. I am super excited that there may be a Trader Joes coming to the area. I cannot get enough of their almond butter with flax seed :)
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I only took a couple of pictures yesterday. The rest of the time, the camera stayed in the purse, and I just enjoyed time with friends! ;)

We have been so busy opening the gym and with my upcoming trip that I haven’t lived a lot of moments. bad girl. I did enjoy 4th of July dinner without any work so that was good.
How does Cody do with fireworks?

Sometimes it is best tolive in the moment. When you live behind the camera, it’s hard to just enjoy because your tring to get every shot! I always run to Starbucks on my breaks. What is your favorite drink? I always get a venti ice coffee, with sugar free vanilla and a splash of non-fat milk! By break time I need the caffient pick me up! have a lovely day!

Many people have been complaining about the heat this summer, but I gotta say- I LOVE SUMMER! Don’t mind the heat, love the sunshine, being outside, everyone is so much more laid back & happy! Summer is the best….

Being on vacation this week has really helped me to take a step back–I’m not worried about getting this, that, and the other thing done for work, which usually consumes a lot of my day. It’s been nice to hang out with family and just do whatever we want to do!
Angela @ Health, Happiness, & Harmony says
Yesterday! For the first time since I started blogging I put down the camera, and as much as I love sharing, I gave my hands a rest, played hostess, and enjoyed every moment.
Happy Fourth!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I eat around 7:15 every morning! Granted that’s after getting up at 5 and working out… Haha I’d probably eat later if I woke up later.
Lisa says
I definitely have been living in the moment this past week. I really took a step back and realized all the good things in life and how I needed to soak up the positivity and good things in life happening at the moment.
Jolynn says
Everything is always go go go anymore, it’s tough to find time to actually relax and embrace what we’re given!
Kim @ The Family Practice says
I ditched my camera for the fourth as well! It is nice to just enjoy the time and not be thinking about this picture when I say this or that – its easy to live for the post but have to remember its the other way around. Glad you took a break!
Bek @ Crave says
I love the title of the post! Too often we forget to live in the moment and get caught up with all the incidentals!
Jonathan Bechtel says
I’ve actually been making it a point to try and “do less.” All too often I find I overcommit myself to work and end up burning out a wee little bit, and find that the time away to incubate my thoughts and motivation is just as crucial to my productivity and happiness as my work itself.
So to answer your question…..everyday!

Living in the moment is something I am only just learning to do, but it is becoming easier. I think too much. You seem to have it nailed though, the simple pleasure of playing with your cat. I relate this to walking my two dogs, it is important to me so they get exercise, however now I truly enjoy the walk and take time to notice the trees and beach etc.
