An Anniversary + A Giveaway {CLOSED}

Hey hey! How’s everyone’s Wednesday going so far?

Want to know something cool? Today is actually a pretty special day for me and Jay, since it’s our dating anniversary. It was on this day, December 5th, 13 years ago, that Jay and I officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Yep…thirteen whole years ago. Almost half of my life.

IMG_0700

That photo right there was taken about a week after we starting dating…ohhh, gotta love the awkward high school year photos!

And I believe this photo was taken right before we started dating, but I honestly don’t remember. I also have no idea what was happening out in the car, but that makes me laugh.

IMG_0702

When both of us were into dying our hair blonde. Winking smile

IMG_0704

I just love how we have so much history, and I would not give it up for anything. I just love my guy. xoxo

Okay, okay, enough mushy talk. Winking smile

Let’s get to some food for today. Yesterday’s cereal combo was so good that I had to have it again today.

The only bummer is that I’m now out of blueberries. Boooo.

Mid-morning I was out running a couple of errands and got struck with hunger. Thankfully, I replenished the purse snacks and had a Clif Z Bar.

(old photo)

A few hours later I put together some lunch. I had actually been craving a peanut butter and banana sandwich all morning long, but when it came down to it, I suddenly wanted cheese…of the grilled variety.

IMG_9041

So I made another grilled cheese with turkey bacon, tomato, and spinach. I actually burned the crap out of the bottom of that sandwich, but it still turned out tasty as ever.

IMG_9043

I’m now fresh out of provolone and spinach, so it looks like another trip to the store will have to happen pretty soon.

Heat up some velveeta with a can of chili (or homemade) and you have instant chip dip! Yeah, yummy! (BUT not so healthy)

  2. says

Aw, congrats on the anniversary! I can’t imagine being in a relationship with someone for that long! (I’ve also never had a “real” relationship, so that’s probably why) It’s so cute that you guys have been together for so long! Also, z bars are the BEST!!

Definitely guacamole (mashed avocado, tomato, onion, garlic, lemon juice, S&P)!! And I love me some boneless buffalo wings!

  5. Emily says

Pulled pork nachos are our favorite football food. Or if we’re feeling lazy tortilla chips with any kind of dip!

  6. Kaitlyn says

I’m a Saints fan, and the year they won the Super Bowl, my family and I cooked spaghetti during EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. We believed it was their good luck charm. ;) So that’s definitely one my favorites right alongside the typical chips and dip combo. Can never go wrong with that!

  7. Nikki A. says

aw, happy anniversary! i’d say my fav. snack would be some good ‘ol guac or spinach and artichoke dip. yummmmmmm :)

  10. kristin says

    awwwww happy dating anniversary!!!

My favorite game day recipe would be – wings, buff chick dip, taco salad, chili

  11. Corina says

My favorite is “Salsamole!” Just mash and mix a few avocados into a jar of salsa…easy and deliciously addicting!

  12. Jacqui says

My favorite game day snack I’ve made is homemade soft pretzel bites (thanks Pinterest!), but usually nachos are our game day snack of choice.

  13. Kristin M says

Happy Dating Anniversary! So cool you have so many memories together :)
Favorite would be the “little smokies” hotdogs with bbq sauce.

  14. says

Happy Anniversary! We still celebrateoru dating anniverasry as well (I do at least, my husband is like we’re married :))

This one is a crowd pleaser and so easy. I don’t share it often but I guess we are going viral…

    “Mini Pizzas”

Get a loaf of French bread and slice into ~1/2 inch thick slice so you aheva bunch of little rounds

Place a slice of brie on each and a slice of pepperoni on top of that

Spray a cooking sheet with cooking spray arrange the “pizzas”

Bake at 325 degrees until the cheese starts to slightly bubble, pepperonis toast slightly on edges
    = Approx 10 minutes

You want to serve warm/hot but can do the prep work before and easily pop in a batch here and there while entertaining

  15. says

Being from the south, I grew up making party dishes with lots of mayo sour cream in them. I really enjoy the corn salsa recipe, which has mayo, sour cream, green onion, mexi-corn, and some other random ingrediants I cannot remember. I absolutely love it, but it is not something I make unless it really is a big game. =)

  16. says

Game day recipes are easy because boys will eat pretty much anything! I especially love making guacamole and black bean salsa to pair with some chips – and always double the recipe for friends ;)

  17. Danica says

    Happy Anniversary :)

I’m all about bite-size foods – mozzarella stick bites, boneless buffalo wings, mini corn dogs – basically anything that doesn’t require utensils!

  18. Kaelin says

I love chips and guacamole! Or bite sized desserts…..

Congrats on your dating anniversary!! My husband and I reached our 10th dating anniversary this summer. :)

  19. Michelle says

One of my favs is Cheesy Ro-tel dip…so easy: velveeta, ro-tel, and cooked hamburger. So bad for you and so delicious!

  20. Emily H says

It’s certainly not anything fancy, but every time I make pigs in a blanket (mini hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls) for a party, the every piece on the plate gets devoured within minutes!

  21. katie says

    Happy Anniversary!
I love any sort of cracker and cheese spread… and on the fancy side bacon wrapped dates are my favorite.

  22. Lauren says

My mom always makes this dip with cream cheese and sour cream with all sorts of taco fixings on top…hard to describe but absolutely delicious

  23. Laura says

Happy Dating Anniversary!! 13 years is a long time, way to go!

For game day, I always make pico! It’s my specialty! Plus, who doesn’t love chips? It’s such an easy crowd pleaser. Yum!

  24. Erin says

Chips with salsa or cheese is always delicious. Grilled brats are yummy as well. And last year my fiancé and I made stuffed pizza bites for the Super Bowl. Those were so good too!

  25. Krystina says

Seven Layer Dip…or pretty much anything I can dip a chip into. I become a bottomless pit when it comes to chips and a dip of any sort.

  26. Naomi says

One of my favorites is cream cheese chili chip dip. All you do is smear the cream cheese in the bottom of round pan, add a can of chili on top, add shredded cheese and cook until the cheese is melted. So yummy, but not so healthy haha

  27. Beth says

I love homemade salsa and guacamole!! Also, 7 layer bean dip is another one of my family favorites for tailgating at Packer games here in Green Bay!

  28. says

    Cute post!
My favorite game day snack = DIP! Any kind but especially french onion dip made from full fat sour creme & french onion soup mix — the best! And, a game day indulgence, for sure.

I can’t believe you guys have been together for 13 years. It just blows my mind, especially since my longest relationship was just shy of a year. (HA!)

Now as for my favorite football treats, chips & guac are always a favorite but one year I made football shaped rice kris pies (both normal and chocolate) with frosting “laces.”

My favorite (but completely unhealthy) party/game day recipe is buffalo chicken dip!! Soo addicting!!

  31. Ashlie says

My two favorite game day foods would have to be “crack bread” it is sourdough bread stuffed with cheese and bacon and then sprinkled with ranch dressing powder and butter. I also love to eat wings with bleu cheese dressing!!

  32. says

CONGRATS!! Hmmmm, my grandma makes a mean artichoke dip and I think I might test it out with greek yogurt. I know another crowd pleaser (that makes an appearance at EVERY event) are the little hot dogs. That and a batch of chocolate chip cookies and we are all set. I try to throw in a salad or two, but with most of the guys in our family, it doesn’t really happen ;)

  33. Shannon says

Congratulations on your dating anniversary! 13 years is a long time. Ironically, it’s one of my friends’ birthday today, and another friend’s birthday was yesterday (we all go to the same school). I guess it’s celebration week for me. :)

Chips and salsa is probably what I most likely eat during football games and the Super Bowl.

  34. says

fresh homemade salsa with blue corn tortilla chips never ever gets old at our house!
Happy Dating Anniversary!! My husband and I haven’t been married for long at all but we’ve been together since we were juniors in high school so I know how special that dating anniversary is :) We always say it feels more significant than our wedding day even.

  45. Kelly Buchholz says

love spinach dip! simple cheese and sausage try with crackers and call me crazy but i love a good veggie tray :)

  46. Ashley says

My go to tailgating dish takes one of my favorite southern treats (deviled eggs) and turns it into a dip. I hard boil the eggs, set them aside and mix up mustard, mayo, sweet pickle relish, salt pepper and depending on the crowd, hot sauce and/or bacon. Then I peel and cut up the eggs and mash the mix together, just like you would with just the yolks in regular deviled eggs. Then of course sprinkle paprika on top! Can even put in center piece of deviled egg tray with the veggies and crackers surrounding

  47. Melanie says

hmm my go to is always something Mexican…either a taco salad dip, or hot mexican dip with salsa, cream cheese & cheddar!

  48. Bethany says

My favorite game day snack is Texas Caviar! So delicious! Filled with corn, black eyed peas, bell peppers, onion, celery, and pinto beans it is to die for! Everyone loves it! The dressing is apple cider vinegar, some sugar, salt and pepper! Simple, yet divine! Best (I think- although hard core chip lovers might disagree) served with sliced celery sticks! :) But tortilla chips also a great with it too! :)
