1. This has been quite a week, my friends. What started on Monday with a slight tickle in my throat wound up exploding into a nasty ol’ cold. I kid you not, I was tied to a tissue box for almost 36 hours straight, and I’m pretty sure I used up like, two boxes. Colds always give me a runny nose, but this was has been NUTS. I suppose better this week than next but, man, I’m ready to feel normal again!
2. Thankfully, the cold didn’t hit full force until Tuesday afternoon, which meant I was able to enjoy a birthday dinner out on Monday night to celebrate my dad’s and my brother’s birthdays.
We all met up at Buca di Beppo, which I hadn’t been to in YEARS, but it was fantastic. I mean, you can never really go wrong with Italian, right??
P.S., their garlic bread is basically straight up garlic. WOAH.
3. I’d say I’m about 80% done with my Christmas shopping, and I’m hoping to finish up the rest this weekend so I can just focus on wrapping. I ended up placing a last minute order yesterday on Kohl’s and got a few great deals, including this gift for Lucas. And I almost forgot to go through Ebates with my order…tell me you guys are using this by now?? Some of the cash back deals right now are insane!
4. This little guy also has a little bit of what his mama has but, man, it sure does not have any impact on his energy levels. This child is GO GO GO from the time he wakes up until the time he finally decides to lay down on his floor “bed” and fall asleep.
And, yes, he’s still sleeping on a (not in) sleeping bag on the floor these days. He wants nothing to do with his bed, which I’m finding so odd?!?
5. Have you guys heard of FLYJOY bars? I’m super pumped to be working with them in 2016, but I’ve gotta say, their bars are absolutely delicious. Especially the cashew cookie dough!
6. 3 Healthy Habits You Should Always Do Before Leaving the House ……interesting, since I do none of them (although I DO do #3 once I get to work). OOPS.
7. I still can’t get over the fact that it’s going to be near 50 degrees for Christmas this year. It just seems so…weird?!? Not that I’m complaining, because no snow = no problem with me!
8. We have new chairs for our kitchen table!!
We finally ended up ordering these chairs from Wayfair, which are in an awesome antique green/teal color. We really couldn’t decide on white or a dark wood, so when we saw these, we figured they’d bring a nice pop of color to the table/kitchen. Now hopefully by this weekend, we’ll have our finished bench, too!
9. We’re also considering possibly making a light fixture for above the table. Our cousins Brian & Mal recently made one which looks AMAZING! I recently saw this video for a little inspiration, too…
9. Loved this! 16 Ways Apple Cider Vinegar Will Make You More Beautiful – really makes me wish I had some in the house this week for my cold. Looks like it’s time to stock up. This one was a good read, too: 12 Tricks to Make Groceries Last Longer and Save Cash. I’ve been thinking about getting some sort of sealer like in #9!
10. Out of curiosity, I’d love to know what the battery situation in your house is like. Jay and I were talking the other day about how both of our dads had/have battery drawers that were ALWAYS stocked with basically anything you needed. Us? We’re scrounging around every time we need a stupid batter (which is often). We keep saying we need to create our own “battery drawer” but…well, you know how that goes.
11. We be bumpin’ over here!
Alright my friends, I’m off for today and heading to my prenatal appointment this morning! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing. <3

Still love that table! Hope you’re on the mend and have a relaxing weekend :)

It’s going to be 50 degrees on Christmas here in Michigan, too. So strange. I don’t miss the snow, but I’ve found it difficult to get into the holiday spirit without the visual que of snow.
Jenna @ Crazy Healthy Fit says
That’s so funny about the battery drawer, because my parents had one too! And we are ALWAYS running down the street to the hardware store when we need some.
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
I love your new kitchen chairs – They look great in your dining area! It is supposed to be 88 here on Christmas! We live in Florida but still – That is INSANE. Hopefully the snow-less holiday will make everyone’s travels a bit easier this year :)
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
We’re supposed to be getting some snow today and tomorrow so I’m a bit worried about it messing with the boyfriend’s flight to Colorado. I’m really jealous I don’t get to go with him and his son (and of course Ill totally miss them!) but I know he’ll be devastated if his flights get messed up. WE had 50 degree weather earlier this week and now it’s a high of 28 today…so weird!

Last week, I had the same type of cold as you. I have asthma and normally a cold goes to my lungs but this one was mostly in my sinuses. I didn’t think I’d ever stop blowing my nose!! The good news is that I feel a million times better this week so I have a feeling you’ll be back to yourself soon too.
We have a food saver and I swear by it!! It’s a bit of an investment up front but it saves so much money with not wasting food and you can take advantage of buying meat in bulk and packaging it in whatever servings make sense for you. We vacuum seal meat and a year later it’s still in tip top shape :)

My husband used to work at Radio Shack and we have always had a large quantity and variety of batteries in the house.
Christy says
Love your table and chairs, so unique!! We have a battery/junk drawer… My parents always did. These days we buy batteries in bulk at sams though so we have them on a shelf in our pantry too. My parents started gifting us bulk size packages at christmas when we had kids and it might be my favorite gift… We are always in need of them!
Monica says
Have you considered putting Lucas back into a crib for a while? (I know this is hard with a baby on the way who will presumably be using the crib.) I recently read that kids should be 3+ before moving from a crib. (Mine is almost 3, so I was doing some research). They mentioned crib climbing, but since mine hasn’t done that, I can’t remember exactly what they said… I think one of the things was putting them in a sleep sack so they can’t use their legs to climb. That said, my daughter is the ONLY one of her friends still in a crib, so it is just a thought, and every kid is different!
Courtney says
Ohhhh Monica, I’d LOVE to put him back in a crib! Unfortunately, he started climbing out about 6 weeks ago and would not stay in. We didn’t feel comfortable with him constantly climbing out so we converted to the toddler bed (much to my dismay!). He was fine in there for a few weeks, but for the past 1-2 weeks, he just wants the floor. It’s super odd…but he’s sleeping, so I guess we’ll just go with it for now!
Sarah @ Seriously Lovely says
Those chairs are really cool and look great with your table! I tend to always go with neutrals, but sometimes a pop of color is really what you need!
Taylor says
I absolutely love the teal chairs!! They go so nicely with your table. I hope you feel better soon!!
torry @ A World Without Wheat says
Hope you all start feeling better soon! Love the new chairs you got to go with your table!
michelle says
Check out Savingstar.com. Some of their % back are better than Ebates!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Those chairs look great with the table. I still can’t believe your husband made the table – it looks so good!
I hope you’re feeling better soon. Being sick is the worst.
Shawna says
omg that apple cider article!! ==> my boyfriend swears by it and uses it as soap, face wash, you name it — he has sensitive skin and it’s been awesome for him (and thankfully the smell doesn’t linger for tooooo long). :) i used to drink it but haven’t in a while — good reminder to start up again. table looks amazing and love the lantern light idea!
Amanda says
If you use Google Chrome as your browser, there is an Ebates app/button that you can install so every time you go to a website it tells you what the cash back percentage is. Saved 9% on the new UGG slippers that I just bought – Merry Christmas to me! :)
Kelly says
We have a “battery drawer” with just AA and AAA. We buy them at Costco (not sure if you have those on the East coast?) so we are stocked for a while. Those seem to be the most common one we need. We are finding we need a flashlight drawer :) Our kids are always stealing them to play with and we need them more than we realize in looking for stuff :)!
Koryn says
Yep, we do the same! We have a battery drawer with AA and AAA batteries… although, I think we may need to restock soon. Haha! :-) We also keep a flashlight in that drawer, plus I was gifted an umbrella/flashlight, which i also keep handy in my purse. I’m all for the battery drawer – such a time saver!
Sheena @ Paws and Pavement says
My parents always had a battery draw too but not us, well there is a draw but it’s not well stocked. I’m always taking batteries out of other things until I remember to buy more.
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
Dang, I’m sorry your week lost any productivity to a darn cold. That’s the worst! Oh my goodness, I forgot about Buca di Beppo- SO GOOD. Now I’m craving hardcore Italian food. Uhhhh their meatballs.
Have a wonderful, HEALTHY weekend, Courtney!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
My parents and my grandparents both have a battery drawer! Me… I have part of a pack of AAA’s buried in my desk. Ha.
I hope you get to feeling better this weekend, Courtney!
Angie says
Careful on the battery drawers! A friend of mine had one and burned down their house because of it. Batteries are not meant to touch each other. That’s why the packaging they come in has separators. They threw a screwdriver in the drawer one day and the spark of the metal caught the house on fire. We keep all of ours in original packaging now.

I live overseas therefore I order an insane about of items online! I have found Ebates to be my friend! I have received about $200 from them over the last couple of years! #winning
Don’t you love prenatal appointments! We have our 24 week today and I never thought I’d love going to the doctor so much =)
Julie says
We have a battery drawer, too. :)
