Talk about a great weekend. Seriously! It was the perfect mix of fun (Saturday) and productivity (Sunday) and I’m typing this up on Sunday evening quite exhausted. But in a totally good way.
Saturday started off with a trip to the Children’s Museum at Saratoga for Lucas’s cousin’s 3rd birthday.
This is a museum that we’ve had on our “to do” list for ages now, but because it’s about 35-40 minutes away, we usually find an excuse not to make the drive. Well, I am SO glad we got to go because the place is amazing!
I didn’t take many pictures of the inside, but there are two floors filled with all sorts of different themed centers, activities, cars, trucks, and stores.
The upstairs wound up being Lucas’s favorite; between the fire engine above, and then him parking a seat at the “diner,” he was in heaven.
As if you couldn’t already tell. <3
We had so much fun!
The second half of the party took place in the party room, where the kids got to take part in a little craft activity. Our cousin, Carla, did such an amazing job of putting together the “Blaze” themed party for all the kids. I mean, how cute are the little smocks?!
Once the crafts were over, it was time for pizza and cake. And Lucas, surprisingly enough, actually ate the pizza. In the most interesting and amusing way possible.
After the fun of the party was over, we headed home so the little guy could go down for a nap. Thankfully, he did, so Jay and I were able to relax for a bit. I was originally going to take a nap, but I always find an excuse to do something else. So instead, Jay and Lucas napped, and I wound up catching up on some work on the computer. Including…a new About page!
This page is, admittedly, one that I just really never used to visit. And when I recently DID visit it and read it, I discovered that it not only said I was 30 (umm, that was 2 years ago…), but it didn’t even mention anything about Lucas?! So I made a few necessary updates and now feel like it represents me much better than the old page did.
So shortly after the boys were up from their naps, it was time for us to head out again to party #2. This time, the party shenanigans were a bit different from the morning…
Can I just say again how much I absolutely ADORE this group of friends and family that we have?! Seriously. They’re just the best.
Our friends Andrea and Steve both celebrate birthdays in March (which we also celebrated OUT last year!), so we got together to celebrate the two of them, along with some St. Patty’s Day fun.
There were plenty of drinks going down…and I’m pretty sure Jay made up for where I wasn’t able to participate.
Thankfully, Steve the master mixologist was there to make us preggos some delicious mocktails once again. And I’m pretty sure I had like, at least three.
Between all of us who were there, it’s a total boys club in terms of our kiddos. So throughout the entire evening, the five boys had a blast running around and just…being boys. I think this picture sums it up perfectly.
It was such a fun time, and I’m so happy that (most of us!) were able to get together. I wish we could all do it more often!
Sunday started out with an early morning workout for me, and by the time I came back upstairs, I was greeted to my two guy snuggled in bed watching an episode of Paw Patrol. Shortly after I laid down to join them, Lucas snuggled up next to me and gave his brother a little extra lovin’.
Sunday also turned into an “I didn’t even shower because the day got away from me and I was so busy” sort of day. The morning consisted of a little meal planning with breakfast (delicious bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, courtesy of Jay), followed up by some grocery shopping with my favorite little shopping buddy.
There was no nap for my buddy yesterday (weird timing with the time change), so it wound up being the two of us for most of the day while Jay worked his tail off in the basement.
I made another batch of these amazing muffins.
We cleaned the bathrooms, did loads of dishes…
We vacuumed, swept, dusted, and did about 4 loads of laundry.
We played outside, we jumped on the trampoline, went for a walk with his car, and we colored.
Eventually, around 6:30 or so, Jay emerged from the basement (oh hey, 7 hours later!), we ate some dinner, I gave Lucas a tubby, and put him to bed.
Then I headed downstairs to check out Jay’s handywork…we’ve got new lights!
That guy worked SO hard all day, and I made sure to remind him just how amazing he is. I really lucked out with having such a handy guy (because I certainly was not given the handy gene like he was) and I’m so excited to have our basement getting closer to being finished (even though it really doesn’t look like much has changed from pictures).
And now that I’ve finished typing up this post, I’ll leave you with a little picture of the Codeman, who I know you haven’t seen much of lately. He just looked too cute in the basement stairs and wanted to say hi.
Now it’s time to go veg out on the couch, catch up with Jay, and likely find some dessert to snack on. Whew!
I hope you guys all had an amazing weekend! Do anything fun or exciting?!

Weekends are crazy aren’t they? I have those I didn’t even share days way to often and I’m not even a mom yet! The about me page… also known as the page the blogger continually forgets about despite it being the number one read page for new readers at your site dun dun dun
I LOVE meal planning, it sets the tone for the whole week! Then again, I’m an RD so I guess that’s good that I love that sort of thing..

What a weekend! I took my Bruce to Disney on Ice and had such a blast spending time with her. And I agree, it’s so nice to marry a handyman! Phil has done so many projects and saved us loads of money.

The new About page looks great and love the refresh! Not to be “nitpicky”, but the first sentence should read “…I live in upstate NY…” Grammatically, the way you have it now implies you live in a city called “Upstate” when you mean to refer to the area of upstate NY!

Thanks Jill! I appreciate the feedback – just changed that! :)
