1. For those of you who may have noticed my adorable little coffee cozie in yesterday’s post, I want to let you all know that it came from Little Bea Boutique!
She makes a ton of adorable things, including crochet coffee cozies. And lucky for you guys, she’s offering 20% off for STSL readers! Just use code STSL20 at checkout if you order from her shop!
2. We get to see our friends Joey and Kate tonight! They’re coming over with their little girl, Samantha, for what I guess we’ll call a “family play date?” Either way, we’re so excited because it’s been forever since we’ve hung out with them (aka, my pregnancy wasn’t even public knowledge!).
3. Ummm, did you hear the news?? Stitch Fix now carries SHOES!!
If you’ve already got an account, make sure to update your Style Profile with your shoe size. Then go ahead and schedule a Fix and request SHOES! They now have over 200 styles from brands like Dolce Vita, Seychelles, Franco Sarto & TOMS. Eeeek!
4. Soooo Target is having Buy One, Get One 50% off on all shoes this week…
My spring/summer shoe collection could use a little update, so I picked up a few simple pairs for myself including these sneakers, these flats, and these sandals (which, I swear, I buy every year from there!), along with a new pair of sneakers for Lucas (which we’ve now bought in a size 6, 7, and 8…he loves them!).
5. Have any of you guys tried these new Good Thins? I picked them up earlier this week and ended up eating almost 3/4 of the box in one sitting…and then I finished off the rest of them yesterday. So one box = 2 sittings.
They are SO good!!
6. For my fellow moms (and dads!) out there, I’m curious…do any of you have experience with balance bikes for your kiddos? We’ve been debating on getting one like this one for Lucas for Easter, but I can’t really decide if I should go that route or just get a bike with training wheels. Any feedback would be fantastic, thank you!!
7. Speaking of my Lucas…we had a little impromptu ice cream date yesterday. We originally stopped at Stewart’s for some milk, and then realized it was .50 cent cone day for St. Patrick’s Day. I’m happy to report, he gets just as excited about ice cream as his mama.
And just in case anyone thinks I let him have the whole bowl of ice cream sitting in front of him, don’t you worry. We’ve got about 3/4 of it left in our freezer right now. They were quite generous with their “one scoop” servings…which I certainly didn’t mind when I got my own cone of cookie dough, of course.
8. I’ve been daydreaming lately of warm, sandy beaches and swim-up bars serving endless amounts of sugar-filled, alcoholic mixed beverages. Rumor has it that our circle of friends may be planning an adult-only vacation in April of 2017…and I’m not gonna lie. That makes me incredibly excited! Mexico reunion!!
9. I’ve been stuck on this fun fact #9 now for at least a good 10 minutes.
10. So for that reason, I’m ending here!
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing! <3

Balance bike all the way! It teaches children the skills they need, how to balance and lean while biking. Our son (and most of his friends) when straight from a balance bike to a “real” bike and skipped training wheels altogether.

I’m with you, take me to a warm beach with cocktails! My husband and I are in the middle of planning a getaway and it can’t come soon enough.

Love Little Bea Boutique – Jamie is just so sweet! We actually just ordered 5 cozies from her. They are so cute!

We love our Strider balance bike! Audrey is so tall that we just had to get the extenders. Just a heads up — it took a LOT of tries before she really started liking it (but she’s a shy kid by nature and always needs extra time to warm up to new things). If you get it and he doesn’t like it at first, keep at it.

Yes to balance bikes! My 4 year is graduating to a regular bike this summer and the balance bike will get handed down to my 2.5 year old.
Erin says
I say no to the balance bike. They are great but not necessary. My daughter is 6 and starting riding a regular bike at 4. We never put training wheels on her bike either. We just went to a nearby park and she would ride down mini hills that were grass covered and learned to balance. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Must take a trip to Target. Awesome sale. Thanks for the “heads up”.
Monica says
It is so funny you mention the balance bike! We JUST YESTERDAY bought one for our daughter’s 3rd birthday next week! A co-worker of mine has grandsons who have and love them and has been telling me for almost 2 years to get our daughter one. :)

The good thins rock. I felt the exact same way about them!
Sara @ Oats & Rows says
Lucas is too cute!!
Shawna says
mmm those sweet potato thins look great. totally hear you on the beach life — i still am having problems recovering from being home from vaca over a week later. i think my next move needs to be to a beach.
Heather @ Life In Leggings says
Ahhh that vacation sounds dreamy. And I’m loving that photo of Lucas! It’s crazy how much “one scoop” gets you some places. Hey, the more the merrier I always say. ;) Happy Weekend!

Our son Jayson will be three in May, so he is very similar in age/size to your little man. We bought him the Disney Cars themed Huffy bicycle with training wheels through Amazon at xmas time (http://tinyurl.com/huffycarsbike) and he LOVES it. He zooms around on it like a maniac and I imagine we’re going to be ready for no training wheels by this summer, which is amazing for such a young age. I have since seen the very same bike we bought on Amazon at Sears in Colonie and I know you have an existing relationship with Sears so maybe it would come with a deeper discount for you. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Mmm shoes. Might have to go to Target again this week. Darn! I seriously have no sandals though and I’m moving to Hawaii sooo… need right?
I also had an ice cream date with my daughter yesterday but disclosed in my Insta pic of it that she got three “bites” which were literally like less than half a normal bite of mine total ;)
Rebecca Jo says
I’m such a cracker / chip person so I need to try those snack goodies!
I need to get to Target & take advantage of that sale before it ends. I’m sure the shoes are probably picked over. I may need to look online.

Balance bikes are GREAT! Like previous commenters, our daughters pretty much when straight to a regular bike after using a balance bike (heck, i would give you ours for free, if you don’t mind it being pink!). A friend of mine recently told me that they never bothered with a balance bike because they just took the pedals off of a standard bike and used that instead. Kind of wish we had thought of that too, since it seems crazy to invest in both. Good luck!

Definitely want to try the good thins! yum!! I am totally going to stop by target… I need some new shoes for an upcoming trip!!

Yes to balance bikes! We had our 2 year old on one and by the end of the summer he was on a two wheeler. I wish I had known about them for my older daughter. She was 4 and the little guy was 2 and they learned to ride a two wheeler the same day!

My husband and I got our son a balance bike for Christmas. He just turned two and is slowly getting the hang of it. He can sit on it and walk it along. I figured why not let him try, have fun with it and just be exposed to it. It’ll definitely take some time for him but he tries everyday and he loves the fact that he has his own bike!:)
Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! says
I love those coozies!! But I just tried to use the coupon code and it wouldn’t work :( Once it’s working, I’m definitely going to order one!
Jamie says
Hi Lauren!
I’m not sure what happened but the code should work now. So sorry for the inconvenience!! <3
Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! says
Okay great! I’m going to order now! :D

We love our Strider! We got it for our guy around 20 months and he has been in love ever since. He literally does it for 2 hours at a time sometimes and is hard to keep up with (he’s now almost 2.5). He has such a big smile on his face when we go out and he loves the freedom of it. I think it’s also taught him how to be cautious but without fear, how to take risks, how to control his body more and how to manipulate his balance and body to do what he wants. It’s by far his favorite activity and I also like that it keeps us active chasing after him and helps us explore new places/parks. Lots of fun!!

We are getting our 2.5 year old a srider! We have heard nothing but great feedback. Teaches them balance aND basic bike riding skills! In addition, it was invented and is made in my home state of South Dakota! Got to support local!

Hey! We got my daughter a Skuut Balance Bike this year for Christmas and she loves it! She just turned 3 last month. Seems like a good way for her to learn to balance without having to be overly cautious while doing it (since her feet are on the ground the whole time). They go on sale on Amazon every now and then.
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
Apparently, I need to go to Target ASAP! Have a wonderful weekend!

Balance bike all the way. My 4 year old used his Strider for two years before handing it down to his little bro. At 2, my youngest is now using it and loving it. IMO, it’s a lot more fun than a tricycle or bike with training wheels because it’s much smoother (and faster, eek). We have various scooters and other toys and the balance bike has always been the go to for them. It also transitions to a real home better. We have a bike with training wheels as well and I strongly dislike it as they make the bike clunky and awkward (doesn’t handle well with them on) and the center of gravity is higher with them such that the falls a kiddo takes are worse with them on.
Carolyn says
Balance/strider bike all the way. I have 4 kids and right now my youngest is riding the strider bike (she turned 2 in August) and she’s gotten good at it. My older kids went right from the strider to a regular bike and never used training wheels. It makes it so much easier for them to transition to a regular bike from a strider. We got my oldest a bike with training wheels and it took so much more work to get him on a regular bike because he didn’t have the balance. Of course some of it will depend on your kid and their personality. I’m checking out target now for shoes!

I just returned from a week in Mexico. We stayed at the Excellence Riviera Cancun. AMAZING everything. Would highly recommend checking it out. Adults only is the way to go!
