Aaaaaaand we’re officially in the third trimester!!
Seriously. Sooo, so crazy!
Baby Tooth is just over 28 weeks today and is about the size of a Chinese cabbage or an eggplant.
And there he is from the front.
Here’s what Baby Tooth has been up to this week:
- Baby Tooth weighs 2-1/4 pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels.
- He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes (aww!)
- He may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb.
- He’s also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:
Weight gained: According to my appointment yesterday, I’m up to about 19 pounds, which equates to about a pound a week since my last visit…aka, right on target. Woot woot!
Workouts: This past week was a bit lighter. I was able to do a Pilates session and a yoga session (each about 45-50 minutes) and I did get in two brisk walks on my lunch hours which were probably about a half hour each. I totally still count those…we were pushin’ it!
Symptoms:
- Sore stomach muscles, and occasionally sore legs/groin area.
- A couple Braxton Hicks contractions.
- Minor low back pain.
- Burping…sorry. It’s gross. Just being honest.
- Many, many trips to the ladies room.
Movement: All day, every day. And he’s certainly growing because I feel him from one side all the way to the other.
Food Aversions: Still pretty much the same…no shrimp or hot coffee.
Food Cravings: Cheeseburgers, sandwiches on rolls (in case you couldn’t tell from this weekend), fruit juice (I bought an orange pineapple juice over the weekend…YUM), peanut butter, yogurt, berries, and ice cream. Basically…I love it all.
Sleep: So-so this past week. I had a few nights where I was really having a hard time getting comfortable and/or would wake up frequently during the night. Those nights were particularly rough on the low back pain. I’m planning on buying myself a body pillow today, actually. I tried getting away without it, but I think it’s time.
Stretch marks? None yet!
Miss Anything? I kinda sorta miss my old energy and stamina. Not that I’m feeling super tired or anything these days – in fact, I feel pretty good! – but it’s little things like being able to do a pushup without feeling like I’m going to die. Sometimes I wonder how I’ll ever get that back…I know it’s totally possible and amazing women do it all the time, but damn, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be easy!
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: A woman that I work with offered to make us a baby blanket/quilt after I was telling her about my issue with not being able to find one I love. She showed me a sample of what she makes yesterday and it was beautiful. I am SO excited! I just need to go pick out some fabrics, so fingers crossed that I’m able to find something.
Baby Tooth continues to put on an excellent show for us almost nightly, so we have a blast watching his moves in there. We think he gave Jay a “high five” the other night.
Belly Button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off? On, but I do notice that my fingers get a little swollen overnight sometimes and they get tight.
Happy or moody most of the time: Definitely happy! I’m so excited to be entering into the third trimester already. I feel like these next couple of months are just going to breeze right by.
New Baby Items: I received my third trimester Baby Bump Bundle!
(In case you missed them, check out my first and second trimester bundles as well!)
This month’s bundle came filled with some more pretty awesome stuff including new flip flops (will be perfect for that July heat!) and Udder Cover reusable breast pads,
An Udder Cover, which will be perfect for nursing
A springy, fun green nail polish (which you saw last weekend) from Knocked Up Nails,
And some Body Buzz Post Recovery Cream & Perineal Spray from Bella B.
Definitely lots of fun stuff in the third trimester bundle, and I love how they really do hand pick items that are perfect for each trimester.
BumpBundles Discount Code Offer!
From now until May 8th, Baby Bump Bundle is offering 15% off any bundle including BumpBundle, BabyBundle, and even a subscription for all three BumpBundle’s. Just enter code 154STSL at checkout.
And just a heads up…if you want to order now but want to wait to send it later (like for Mother’s Day), that is definitely an option. Just say the date you want it to arrive in the comments of the order along with a card message.
Looking Forward To: Seeing how this third trimester treats me. I consider myself very lucky thus far with my pregnancy, so let’s hope that it continues into these final weeks! This month we also have a few different classes coming up (breastfeeding and childbirth) so I’m interested to see how they’ll go.
Question for the Moms:
Did you take any classes (i.e., childbirth and/or breastfeeding)? Did you find it to be helpful?
Sherri says
Yay for the third trimester! I am so jealous. I’m just over 6 weeks behind you.
I’m actually going to a La Leche League meeting in a couple of weeks. They have chapters all over the US (and the world) offering information and support around breastfeeding (best part – it’s FREE!).
I think you’re in Albany County – here’s a link: http://www.lllusa.org/NYE/Albany/albany.HTM

I can only hope I look half as good as you do when I’m pregnant! You look great and so happy. You don’t have that “I’m getting huge” look AT ALL. How do you do it? ;)
Love the nail polish, the name is hilarious.
Katie says
I took the breastfeeding class & it was so great! It was about three hours and I felt so much more confident walking out :)
Sara @ fitcupcaker says
You look great, and those walks definitely count as exercise! Ive never seen the baby bump bundles. they are so neat!
Jessie says
Yay for hitting 28 weeks! I am actually overdue, 41 weeks today, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little man.
I took a breastfeeding class at the hospital we plan to deliver at and found it to be very useful, as did my husband. And we also took the Bradley method series of classes because we are hoping for a natural delivery and those were great.
Have fun with your classes and good luck to you in your third trimester!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Looking fantastic as always! Love hearing about your baby tooth updates; also a MASSIVE fan of pineapple and orange juice! Great combo and makes for an amazing smoothie!
Erin @Axell's Kitchen says
I took Bradley classes and LOVED them. Even if you are not planning on having a natural child birth (I ended up not) they teach you so much good info about not just the delivery process but breastfeeding and post birth as well!
Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes says
You are glowing! I can’t wait to meet your little guy!
Karen says
We did take a childbirth class and I found it rather helpful. My hubby and I would make fun of all the breathing exercises but in the end, it really did help when the contractions were pretty intense. BTW, cutest Mommy-to-Be ever!!
Jennifer says
I love those breast pads! I never used the disposable kind, I had 4 or 6 pair and I washed every couple days.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Look at you and your eggplant!! ;) I’m glad you found someone to make you the quilt. Perfect!!
I haven’t looked into any classes yet, but I probably will do a breastfeeding one. I’m also lucky that John’s cousin (the one I was telling you about yesterday – ha!) is a lactation consultant, so I’ll have her on call all the time. ;) I don’t know why, but I kind of want to go into labor and childbirth blind. Call me crazy, but I don’t want to have any sort of expectations. I never thought I’d be so nonchalant about it!
Katy @ HaveYouHurd says
I felt the same way – ha! I think that’s another reason I wasn’t big into reading pregnancy books. It was just TOO MUCH information. I don’t really want to know about every single thing in the entire world that can go wrong – no thanks. The classes I took didn’t cause information overload, they just taught me the basics which I appreciated.
Jana @ Happy Wife Healthy Life says
I can’t believe you are already in the third trimester! I am so glad everything with the baby and you are going perfect!
Awesome that you found someone to make your quilt! The handmade ones are always the best, and much more special! :)
Lauren @ Confessions of a First Time Mom says
LOL @ the burping…I’ll never forget how much burping went down while I was pregnant. Let’s hope Jay doesn’t mind it as much as my hubby did! That Baby Bump Bundle is REALLY cute! All very useful things (except I personally preferred the disposable nursing pads. Not so environmentally friendly, but I found them more comfortable than reusable ones, which itched me). I took a class that covered the whole gamut – labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and caring for your little one in the first few months. It was all really helpful, except the labor part, which of course you forget in that moment when nothing is going according to plan.
Jessica says
We took the childbirth class through the hospital and we found it to be very helpful — just knowing what to expect (everyone is different but it was nice knowing the stages of labor, etc). Also, we like the fact that we were going into it with more knowledge about the drugs, testing, etc. You look fantastic!!!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
Congrats on entering your third trimester! How exciting! I give you tons of credit for continuing an exercise regime throughout your pregnancy. I think that is so awesome! BTW…your outfit is super cute!
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
Hooray I’m making it to the third trimester! That’s so exciting!!!! Keep enjoying every second, it will be done before you know it.
The husband and I went to the hospital’s childbirth class. I didn’t feel that it was all that helpful but maybe the ones in your area could be. However, I *loved* listening to podcasts while I was exercising! I learned so much and I would have been lost without them! I highly recommend listening to PreggiePals…. they are the best!!!!!!!!!! :)
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
We took a childbirth class, and I really enjoyed it, but it definitely wasn’t Cody’s favorite thing ever. ;) I found that I knew a lot of what they taught us, but it was nice to ask a few questions and learn things a little more in detail. I skipped the breastfeeding class, and I don’t regret it at all. We had great lactation nurses that helped in the hospital.
Britt says
Nice updates!
Please be sure to do a progression post/slideshow after you have baby tooth!! That would be neat.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Yay for the 3rd trimester!! Exciting stuff!
I can’t wait for my baby to ‘move’ & I can feel him/her! I also can’t wait to find out the gender this week. wahoo!
Katy @ HaveYouHurd says
We’ve taken 3 classes through the hospital so far and we’re signed up for one more this weekend. So far we’ve taken Infant CPR (2 hour class), Prepared Childbirth (three, 3 hour classes), and Breasfeeding (3 hour class). I’ve really enjoyed all of the classes we’ve taken and I’ve learned a lot in all of them. I hate reading, so I haven’t gotten into all of the books I have. It’s easier for me to learn from someone I can interact with and ask questions.
The final class we have this weekend is called Home with Baby and it’s a 2.5 hour class that goes over the basics of life with a newborn!
michelle says
You look awesome:-) So glad you enjoyed all your BumpBundle’s! And thanks for sharing the discount code!!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
1) I can’t believe you are already 28 weeks pregnant.
2) I can’t wait for someone I know to get pregnant so I can get the Bump Bundles delivery for them! :-)
Miranda @ Miranda Runs says
Oh my gosh you’re getting so close <3
Colleen Kingery says
Um… you look DARLING! Congrats on entering the third trimester! It’ll fly by so hold on! Love the stuff that was sent to you in your third bundle!!!
We took classes – actually have one more next week. We took Breastfeeding (which I HIGHLY recommend if you are anything like me and a tad scared of the thought, but really want to give it a shot), Infant First Aid and CPR (another great class!), Healthy childbirth (which pretty much walked us through everything to expect from touring the hospital, pain medications, what to do to relax, breathing and birthing positions, etc. It was a 4 week class and very informative). Next week we are doing a newborn care class since hubby and I are clueless about things like swaddling and bathing. Overall, both of us have said many times that all of the classes were great and eased a lot of our worries.
Bek @ Crave says
Ahhh so close! Love the update :) Don’t worry you’ll get back to your pre-baby fitness abilities in no time :)
Reghan says
You are so cute! It goes so fast! My son is 8.5 months and already all of this seems so far away :( So much fun though!
I had a pretty easy and great pregnancy BUT in the last 10 or so weeks I had terrible, terrible carpal tunnel (which I normally don’t have) but it’s very common in pregnancy and I’d wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning with my hands numb in pain and completely asleep. SO painful but I guess things could have been worse! That is one thing I hope doesn’t return when I get pregnant again!!! haha I hope you have smooth sailing from here until the birth :)
Lindsay @ fuel my family says
I thought breastfeeding was the best class I took. It was more helpful than the birthing class!
Jamie says
Courtney you look so cute!
I have a question, I’m sorry if this is a little personal, just wondering if you took pre-natal vitamins when you were trying to conceive? Hubby and I plan on trying soon in couple months, I’m wondering if I should take them now or wait till we have something brewing haha :-)
Courtney says
Haha, that one’s definitely not too personal ;)
I did start taking them probably about three months before we started trying. It certainly doesn’t hurt…plus your hair and nails will totally thank you for it!
Sylvia says
So buying them this weekend! :-)
Nicole says
Its so great to be actually able to grab a second to come on and check your updates out. My daughter surprised us a week early and we couldn’t be more happy. Pregnancy seems like a distant memory! Wait til you see how fast your body bounces back! Its amazing! Enjoy it girl. Goes by fast!
