Hello to you all and happy Wednesday! It’s been a little while since I’ve done a Day in the Life post, so I figured today would be a fun opportunity to do a little of that along with some WIAW (thanks for hosting, Jenn!). So let’s get to it!
5:15am – First alarm goes off. Snooze, of course.
5:45am – Hear the alarm going off again…definitely don’t remember hitting snooze another time. Roll out of bed, toss on workout clothes, put in contacts, then head to the basement.
5:50am – Workout time! Today’s workout was T25 Gamma (Rip’T Circuit), which I always love because it’s all upper body…and I just love me some upper body workouts!
6:25am – Chug some water, hop in the shower, brush teeth, do makeup and hair, get dressed.
7:10am – I’m greeted by Lucas, who is dressed and ready for the day thanks to his daddy. He is always SO happy and chipper in the morning…not quite sure where he gets that one from, but we love it.
7:25am – Head to the kitchen to round up the “stuff” for the day: Lucas’s breakfast and lunch, my lunch, my coffee, and my breakfast. I blend up my shake in the blender and Lucas is ecstatic. The child LOVES this contraption…and I think he gets equally excited because he knows I’m going to give him a bite or two of peanut butter.
7:45am – Out the door! I sip on my chocolate peanut butter Shakeology as I’m driving. It’s so good.
8:05am – Arrive at the sitter’s house, but Lucas is way more interested in his laptop and tells me “No” when I ask him if he’s ready to go see his buddy. Yes, we have learned “no” over here, and it doesn’t even bother me (yet) because it sounds SO adorable when he says it (<– I know that will come back to bite me soon enough…).
8:15am – Get to work, do the usual morning routine of checking emails and tickets, and finish up breakfast and coffee.
9:00am – Meeting with my boss. A very good meeting, and got my morning started off on the right foot!
11:00am – My 2nd meeting for the day. Luckily, it’s a quick one and we’re done in about a half hour.
11:45am – I start to get a little hungry but since I know I need to head out shortly on lunch, I snack on some Almond Nut-Thins + peanut butter to tide me over a bit.
12:00pm – Run out to the post office to mail out some stuff, stop quick at the bank, then get back to work in about 20 minutes. Since I still have time left and it’s absolutely gorgeous out, I take a quick 20ish minute walk around our building.
1:15pm – Time to get back to work and break into my lunch. I prepped a couple of salads on Sunday and was super grateful for taking the time (I’d been slacking a bit the past couple of weeks) because it was quite delicious. Lots of veggies, dried cranberries, feta, grilled chicken, and honey cornbread croutons.
Work, work, work!
2:30pm – I’m craving a little something sweet so I grab the orange I remembered I threw last minute into my lunchbox that morning. Oranges have been SO good lately, don’t you guys agree??
3:30pm – Done with work for the day! Time to go pick up my little man.
3:40pm – Arrive at the sitter’s house. He’s having a blast but gets so excited when he sees me. My heart melts. :) Talk a bit about his day with his sitter and then we’re off.
3:50pm – Lucas and I make our way on home, but on the way, I make a drive-by past our lot to see what kind of progress they’re making. As of right now, the foundation is IN! Framing is set to start later this week, too, so things are moving right along. YAY!
4:00pm – I almost forget that we need to make a quick stop at the grocery store for tonight’s dinner and a few other things! Realized it just in time, so we head there, grab what we need, then make our way home. Lucas says “Hi” to just about everyone we pass by.
4:25pm – We’re home, finally! I do the usual routine of unpacking lunches, putting other stuff from the day away, and/or whatever dishes were cleaned in the sink to be put away. Then Lucas and I play with some cars (with Cody, too!) while we wait for daddy to get home.
*The pic above is from Monday, but same thing happened Tuesday too ;)
5:00pm – Jay is home! We chat a bit about our day and get some things ready for dinner and our dinner guests.
5:30pm – Grandma and papa arrive! Because Jay and I had a late softball game that night, we asked my mom if she’d be able to watch Lucas. And since my dad would be coming to the game with us as well, they drove up together and we planned dinner. Win, win!
6:00pm – Time for dinner. We keep things simple and have cheeseburgers on the grill, along with some pasta salad that my mom brought over. All on paper plates too, to make clean up that much quicker. Heck. Yes.
We all hang out for a while after dinner and play with Lucas, who is forever keeping us entertained.
7:15pm – Jay, my dad, and myself all get ready to head out to our softball game. It’s a later one tonight (7:45pm) so while I’m bummed to miss bedtime with Lucas, I’m super thankful my mom is available to jump in and help.
7:45pm – Time to play some softball!
We had an awesome game, we won 33-10, and I ended up getting 5 hits during the night, including one that went over the left center fielder. I guess all those workouts are paying off?
9:15pm – Game is over. We hang out for a few minutes but not too long since it’s late, I need to pee, and I’m hungry.
9:30pm – Arrive back home. Get the scoop on Lucas (he went to bed fine, didn’t last too late as I expected), then my mom and dad head home. I dig into some strawberry greek yogurt covered pretzels from NatureBox that are freakin’ DELICIOUS.
I think I could have easily eaten the whole bag. Luckily, I kept that in check a bit…and by a bit, I mean maybe I ate half.
9:45pm – Change out of dirty uniform, hang out on the couch for a little while with Jay and chat about a few different things before I realize what time it really is. Thankfully, I’m working from home tomorrow (likely today if you’re reading it on Wednesday) so I don’t have to worry about packing lunches and all that jazz.
10:15pm – Come in to the computer to type up this post. And now that I’m done, I’m getting ready for bed and getting some SLEEP. I’m pooped!
Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

Garrett’s Popcorn Winner
Congratulations to the winner of the Garrett’s Popcorn giveaway, Chrissy!
Chrissy: “I would love to win and give this to my sweet mama. Her mom, my grandma, just passed away on Easter and I know this Mother’s Day will be a tough one. Also, my family’s favorite snack has always been popcorn and M&Ms, and this is like the fancy version. Perfect!”
Congrats, Chrissy! Please email me at sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com so I can get you your goodies!
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely says
Those yogurt covered pretzels! YUM! Anything sweet and salty always gets me. How exciting that your new house is moving right along! I remember in the beginning it’s really exciting because you can see SO much change. When they get to the electrical, plumbing, etc it seems to slow way down because they’re changes you can’t see from the outside. I know y’all have to be so exciting to get it finished and moved in!
Enjoy your work-from-home day today!
Jenn@Mark My Miles! says
Yay for the softball win! Our little man says “No” too and I find it cute now but think this may change in the future. Have a great Wednesday!

I miss Nature Box so much overseas! Their snacks are perfect! Now if only they sold them in pre-portions packs THAT WOULD be genius!!
Molly Laufer says
We actually just launched several snacks in 1oz. portions that you can get 10-packs of. And stay tuned on the international thing :) Let me know the next time you’re back in the states so we can make sure you get some snacks to travel back with you!!
Danielle @ Little Mama Big Life says
I thought “no” was super cute at that age too! I’d often laugh when he said it, which has likely backfired on me, because its not so cute now at 3! :)
Linz @ Itz Linz says
looks like a great day! i need to get back on an outdoor softball team – that is always so much fun when it’s nice out!

Hi Courtney! Long time reader, love your blog :) just curious I see as of recently you discreetly throwing in shakeology/beach body stuff into your blog posts. I don’t know why but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like you do a really good job keeping sponsored posts authentic and at a minimum but the recent influx of shakeology references is feeling very “sales” like. Just my thoughts!
Courtney says
Jen, thanks so much for the comment. I was actually re-reading today’s post this morning and was thinking the same thing. I will, of course, still be mentioning it because it is something that is a part of my daily life, you know? But I totally get what you’re saying, and am certainly keeping things like that in mind for future posts when I may mention them. I never want to come off as too salesy. So again, very much appreciate the comment, and thanks for reading! :)
Irene says
What a professional and thoughtful response Courtney. I had the same thought as the original poster and appreciate seeing you acknowledging and incorporating feedback from readers. Obviously this is your forum to use however you see fit but as a longtime reader I would be disappointed if your blog changed dramatically in tone. Keep up the great work!
On an unrelated note, did you make the cornbread croutons? If so I’d be really interested to see the recipe! Sounds amazing.
Courtney says
Thanks Irene! :)
Haha, no, I definitely did not make them myself. They’re Texas Toast brand, and they’re flippin’ delicious! ;)
Lucy says
Ugh Jen you have no problem about other things like NatureBox or any restaurants that she doesn’t get paid to plug. I think Courtney is doing a GREAT job at blogging and Indicating what she is selling. She could very well just say “worked out at 6:00 and it was great!” or “had a delicious smoothie on my way to work!” and people would say she’s too vague. Some people like to read what products she uses. She ALSO indicates sponsored posts before you read them, so it’s your choice to take it what it is or skip the parts you feel are too “salesy.” Great job Courtney!
Britt@MyOwnBalance says
Oh boy! I’m so scared of the day my son learns no. He already shakes his head back and forth!
Marielle says
Good job on getting your workout done early before work! I’ve always been an evening workout person but now that I have a little kiddo, I think that will be changing!
tiff @ love, sweat, & beers says
What a busy busy day! Sounds fun though. :) Lucas is such a sweetie! Ethan has been saying No too now, which is cute… kind of.
Ashleigh says
Strawberry yogurt covered pretzels??!!! That would be trouble. I’m totally obsessed with regular Greek yogurt pretzels, this takes it to a new level! Good for you only eating half the bag ;)
Very exciting stuff about the new house! It’s so fun to drive past and see the progress. Have a great day!
Amanda @ Slimplify Life says
Love that you can work out in your basement!
Nature Box goodies are like crack and I literally cannot stop!!!
Liv @ Healthy Liv says
I LOVE Trader Joe’s yogurt covered pretzels! So yummy. And I love Day in the Life posts- shows how nosy I am, I guess?! :) Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Love your Day in the Life posts! What laptop toy does Lucas have? My little boy is the same age, and I think he would love that for car rides. Thanks!
Courtney says
Thanks Jennifer! It’s from LeapFrog and he loves it! http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-My-Own-Leaptop-Green/dp/B0038AJYSS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430922809&sr=8-1&keywords=leap+frog+laptop+for+toddlers

I love your day in the life posts they are so much fun to read and see what you do day to day. Thank you for sharing!

Those snooze buttons are dangerous! Feels so good to hit them and then so bad when you wake up an hour later. But that is why I love quick and efficient workouts!
Shawna says
are the Shakeology shakes good? i’ve been doing Medifast shakes for so long, but always looking to try out new options. i miss playing softball or any organized team sports, for that matter!
Courtney says
I’ve never tried Medifast so I’m not sure how they’d compare, but I think the Shakeology is awesome. Shoot me an email if you’re interested! sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com!
Heather @ Life In Leggings says
I have that Rise & Grind jar too, so cute! I love that you guys play softball together, that seems so fun. Also, Lucas is the cutest!
Mindi says
Hey Courtney!
I’m new to your blog and just wanted to say I love this “Day in the Life” post. Your little guy Lucas is adorable. All of my kids will be out of school for summer soon and I’m working on coming up with some kind of summer schedule for us to make things easier and this is inspiring. Thanks for sharing about your day. :)
Courtney says
Thanks so much for reading, Mindi! Hope to see you around :) (and good luck with the summer schedule!)
Allie@livelauheat says
i provide behavioral therapy to children diagnosed with autism and one of the first things I learned was to tell them what they’re going to do instead of asking yes or no questions. Like, we’re going to go see your buddy now…let’s go! So you don’t invite that no. He might still say no but at least it’s not a legit answer to your question. I work with the cutest little doll of a girl and it’s hard not to melt even when she’s being defiant and not listening to me…so I totally understand ha. Anyway just something I’ve learned that may help :)
Courtney says
That is really interesting, thanks Allie!
Julie says
That pic of Lucas in his carseat w/ the little scowl on his face just cracked me up! So cute!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Oh it’s still getting dark there pretty early on! We have brightness till about 9pm now… Lucas is so cute in the trolley! He looks so big!
Ashley Renee says
I envy your determination to get up in the morning to work out! It’s always SOOO much easier to hit snooze and go straight back to sleep. I think I might need to switch up my workouts to something a little less intensive so I won’t be worried about making noise for the apartment below me. Do you the T25 workouts involve a lot of jumping and stuff? I can never decide if I should purchase them because I don’t want to buy them and not be able to use them without sounding like an elephant.
Courtney says
Hey Ashley! Some of the T25 videos do involve a bit of jumping (especially in the alpha – first – phase). But it also totally depends on the video…some are more weights focused where there’s really not much jumping at all.
That said, my go-to videos for when I need something quieter (but definitely still want to feel the burn) are the PiYo series. They’re awesome!
(Plus, your comment about not wanting to sound like an elephant was also awesome) ;)
Ashley Renee says
hahahahahha thankkk you! I have a significant fear of sounding like animals when completing physical activity. In high school my (then) boyfriend’s sister made fun of me for “running like a cow.” apparently I run loudly!
In all seriousness, I’m really more concerned with being inconsiderate. I’ll definitely have to check out the PiYo ones! I’ve heard the name before but never checked it out. Thanks a bunch!
xoxo

How’d you do your hair in your drive-to-work picture (sippin’ on your shake)? I like it. :)

I love reading day in the life posts of moms lately- the planner in me is loving it!

I’ve been snacking on a lot of oranges, too! They’ve been so sweet and delicious! Nice job at the game!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
That is so exciting that the foundation is in! And amen to oranges being amazing. I can’t stop eating them!
lauren says
I’m super jealous of your ability to get up before Lucas. Ugh! My 21mo IS my alarm at least 6/7 days a week. He is awake between 6 and 6:30 am, but I’ve finally gotten myself running regularly with him in the stroller (he hated it last summer) and I’m using the elliptical when I don’t get out there in the am. Getting my son ready, going for a run, and then getting myself ready makes mornings VERY interesting.
I’m looking for an easy/quick circuit I can do or a video that would get me a full body workout in a half hour or less. I want to tone up a bit and do something that will complement my running – but I am not ready to buy a whole set like T25, if T25 even fits the bill for what I’m looking for. Do you have any suggestions? Body weight exercises would be the easiest, but I have a terrible set of adjustable weights (with plates) I can use.
Also, YES, the oranges are really good right now! They’re actually as good as clementines, which I usually choose instead.
Courtney says
Wow Lauren, props to you for getting out with your son. That’s not an easy task going through everything that you do, so WAY TO GO, MAMA!
As for the workout suggestions…T25 really is an amazing program, as is PiYo (it’s actually a great complement to running b/c it’s toning + stretch). But if you’re not interested in a full program like that, I have a bunch of older circuit exercises on the blog that shoulf fit the bill! Some are bodyweight, some are dumbbells: https://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/workout-log/circuit-workouts/
Let me know if you have any other questions!
lauren says
It is tough. I cannot believe how much time I didn’t know I had pre-kid! Hah.
That first high intensity circuit looks perfect! And I’ll see if any friends have Piyo or T25 and will let me borrow a disk. I can’t imagine I’d do it more than twice a week, so I definitely want to try it out.
Thanks!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
ahhh lately I’ve been craving *something* covered pretzels…I was thinking chocolate but yogurt would definitely do the trick ;-) and it’s been too long since I had a burger! Might have to remedy that one soon.
