Hey guys! How was the weekend? Do anything fun and exciting?
We had a few fun and festive happenings over here…trying to soak up these last few days leading up to Christmas as much as possible!
On Saturday evening, we headed over to my parents’ house to watch the Jets game. They had a few other friends over, too, so it was a fun little party.
Lucas, of course, had a blast getting to play with his Uncle D and Carissa (aka, “Garsh” to him, ha!).
As per the usual, there was plenty of delicious snack food to go around, including some of my favorite garbage bread.
As well as some surprisingly delicious crockpot chili, courtesy of my brother. ‘Tis the season for this stuff, right??
We put Lucas to bed at my parents’ house, who kept him for the night, and Jay and I headed home once the game was (finally) over around 11:30pm.
Having Lucas at Nana & Papa’s house meant we got a beautiful Sunday morning of sleeping in. Ohhh, it was great!
I got in a BODYPUMP workout (first one in quite some time now) and it felt SO good.
Every time I do the DVD workout, I still miss taking a live class and always debate on whether or not I’d want to go back. Ahh, maybe some day!
I ended up running into my dad at the grocery store a little while later, who happened to have Lucas with him, so that was a fun surprise! Of course, Lucas wanted to be with me as soon as he saw me, so we did a quick switcheroo of the carts and I finished up my shopping with him.
Once we got home, I told Lucas we’d be able to make our gingerbread houses soon and he was so excited. We had to wait for daddy to get home though, so someone was getting rather impatient.
Finally (really, only like, maybe 30 minutes later…which I’m sure seemed like an eternity for him), he made it home. And since Lucas decided to protest his nap again, we got to making our houses.
I’m not sure what Lucas liked more…decorating the houses with the candy or eating the candy.
The activity entertained Lucas for probably a whole 10 (maybe 15) minutes, so I’d say it was a success! And although I wouldn’t go entering us in any sort of decorating contest anytime soon, I’d say we did alright!
Even though somebody had to go and chow on one…
Caught red handed!
With our couch jumper in action in the background.
We rounded out our Sunday evening with a fun trip to the Capital Holiday Lights in the Park! I was so pumped because I really thought Lucas would LOVE all the lights. But, as I suspected would happen, he wound up falling asleep on the way and slept through probably two thirds of it.
He even missed out on the big Santa!
Ahh well, whatcha gonna do, right?
He eventually woke up and this may have been one of the few smiles we got from him, but I’ll take it.
We headed into the lakehouse to see if Santa was there (which he was), but Lucas wanted no part of any of it. Sooo, we packed it up and headed on home. He at least found a few light displays on the way out that he seemed to enjoy, so I’ll say it was a partial success.
We’re all still working on battling through what is (hopefully!) the last of these colds we’re all sporting…but other than that, it was a really fun weekend, and I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in some more holiday festivities before the big day arrives!

I think it’s so fun to see all the different places to see lights in different cities! St Louis has a few awesome ones, too!

The picture of Jay eating the gingerbread house and Lucas jumping made me laugh! But it’s also a moment that show fun, laughter and live in your home. What a great weekend!

Your houses are so cute! Love having festive family time! The day after Christmas is all about PJs and family movies!

The Christmas are so pretty, I think part of decorating gingerbread houses is “testing” the candy. You wouldn’t want to put any defective candy on there!

When you said SOMEONE ate a gingerbread house, I totally expected it to be Lucas. Too funny!!! Then seeing him couch jumping in the background totally cracked me up! Looks like you have 2 “little” boys on your hands. :P

Ugh, nap protests are the worst!! At least there was gingerbread fun there to help pass the time. :) Looks like a great weekend!

I have that exact same gingerbread house kit. It definitely wasn’t easy putting the pieces together with that super sweet icing! Your houses look really good though!
