Well we’ve got one great weekend in the books! Baby sleep was so-so (although Friday night was AWFUL) and I even think we managed to go two full days without having to put the toddler in time out!
And even more fun, we got to spend the majority of Saturday celebrating at home with some great friends at our annual Friendsgiving.
Jay and I have always loved to host and celebrate with friends in our home. Since having kids, it’s definitely gotten a bit tougher (especially since #2 arrived), but it’s something that we still look forward to when we get the opportunity.
Everyone contributed to the food and drinks, which made for quite a spread.
And we had plenty of hands helping in the kitchen (thanks for the help on the gravy Andrea!).
There was plenty of food and delicious drinks to be had, that’s for sure!
I loaded up my plate with a little bit of just about everything (which was after stuffing my face with baked brie and chips and dip).
Most of the kiddos weren’t all that excited for the dinner (well, at least mine wasn’t…) but they were definitely excited about the ice cream and treats for dessert.
I mean, how could you blame them? There was some GOOD stuff.
Towards the end of the evening I was absolutely wiped, mostly due to the lack of sleep I had from the night before, and I passed out not long after everyone left and we put Lucas to bed. Thank GOODNESS that both boys did awesome (for now…) with the time change and they both woke up at 7am (what would have been 8am), so I think we all woke up feeling much more refreshed!
Sunday included some clean up and some putting together of turkey carcass soup.
I was going to just throw the turkey carcass away but most of the girls the night before told me that I needed to make soup with it…so that’s exactly what I did! I loosely followed this recipe and it was actually pretty easy. No turkey goes to waste with that!
Lucas went and hung out with my parents for a few hours on Sunday, leaving us with some time with the little guy. Daddy and Alex were having a little fun with Lucas’s Mickey car.
We all went to go pick up Lucas early in the evening and were greeted with homemade apple pie from my mom. Absolutely delicious, as always!
Shortly after, we came home and did tubbies/bed time with both of the boys. I poured myself a glass of wine, Jay and I enjoyed some of our turkey soup, and I got to work on this post and an Usborne Books party.
And now, it’s absolutely my bed time. Whew…if they’re gonna make us change the clocks then we should at least get like, an extra 3 hours just for more sleep. I know I could use it!
*For those of you who may have been looking for a meal planning post yesterday, sorry there wasn’t one! You didn’t miss much from this past week, but definitely be sure to check out the archives if you’re looking for ideas.
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Did you do anything fun or exciting??

Looks like a great weekend! Love your plaid shirt, where’s it from? Thanks.

I”m insanely jealous of your spread and party! I would love to host one but our house is so small. It reminds me of your old house- I don’t remember if you did this when you lived there? Maybe it can be done. I think I’d want to do it between Thanksgiving and Christmas because I’m just not a fan of Thanksgiving food (I know! What is wrong with me!) but give me all the Christmas appetizers ;) Hope sleep gets better! I remember 4-5 months being so hard with Annabelle. Between getting her to sleep and staying asleep, I was exhausted! I’m glad you and Jay had some alone time with the little man and Lucas had some alone time with grandma and grandpa.

My friends and I have been talking about doing a Friendsgiving, and I think that next year will be the right time! It looks like you had such a fantastic time!

Looks like there was lots of delicious food at your friendsgiving dinner. My dad always makes soup after Thanksgiving. It’s great to have another way to eat the leftovers other than just turkey sandwiches.

What a neat idea! Glad you were able to enjoy time with friends and that the kiddos mostly behaved. That soup sure sounds interesting. Might have to look into that this year! I still feel a bit groggy from the time change so I’m with you on the extra hours of sleep lol.

Friendsgiving seems like so much fun! My boyfriend and I are hosting this year. Now I’ve added bake brie to my list! Have you had it wrapped in a puff pastry with honey and pecans? Life changing.

I’m with Heather – I’d LOVE to host a big friendsgiving but our house is so small everyone would be sitting on the floor. Next house goals for sure! Looks like you guys had a great time with your “people”! So special!
