1. It has been a long time since I’ve had such busy evenings during the work week. I feel like all I want to do this weekend now is lay on my couch in my cozies. I’m so old…
2. On Wednesday, I had my company kickoff meeting/party which was a blast. The evening started with a meeting, followed by cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. There were also some casino tables to go with the “Speakeasy” theme of the party, but I didn’t wind up doing any gambling (there was no real money involved). Instead, I drank wine, ate food, hung out with co-worker friends, and let my wine buzz take me out to the dance floor.
Oh, and there were mini desserts, so of course it was a great night.
3. On Thursday, I had Girls’ Night which was MUCH anticipated! We haven’t really gotten together just the girls since we all went to see Gone Girl back in October. Umm…three months is WAY too long!
We all hit up one of my favorite spots, Bombers (which I‘ve been to numerous times), and enjoyed our fair share of burritos, nachos, and margaritas. Mmmm mmmm.
4. On Wednesday night, I went to bed craving donuts. On Thursday morning, I woke up still craving donuts. So on my way to work on Thursday, I got donuts.
Noooo, I didn’t eat them ALL…I did share some. But I didn’t let anyone touch my blueberry cake donut. ;)
5. A couple of weeks (months?) ago, I bought myself a new pair of Reebok sneakers, and I am totally loving them. I bought the YourFlex Trainette 5.0 and they are some seriously comfortable shoes.
They’ve been working out great for the workouts these days!
I also just recently bought Lucas a new pair, since he’s just about to outgrow his current pair.
I bought him these, and they are really just too adorable. Plus, I totally love how these don’t have full laces like his last ones. SO much easier to get on/off!
And, in case you’re wondering what the heck he’s doing on our kitchen floor, the child gets super excited when the heat kicks on from the vent under the sink. Hilarious.
6. Did you guys see the photo I posted on Instagram yesterday? I swear, T-Rex jokes never, ever get old.
7. Another good quote from my desk calendar this week.
Heck YES I do.
8. I feel like I’m totally in limbo with my workouts lately. Part of me winds up craving something super sweaty and intense, but the other part of me wants something with a little less impact and intense in a different way (like PiYo). Lately, I’ve kinda just been “winging” it when it comes to my workouts, but I think I may try to extend the whole weekly organization thing to include not just meals, but workouts too.
Right now, I’m thinking maybe I’ll aim for 3 days of more intense (like my T25 videos…OR, have you guys seen this Insanity Max: 30?! It seems, well, insane) and 2 days of something low impact like PiYo or yoga. What do ya think…do any of you guys plan your workouts for the week, or do you just go for it?
Alright guys, I’m off for today! Hope you all have a fantastic Friday and a fun weekend ahead! I’ll try to pop back in on Sunday with some meal prepping. ;)

What a fun week! I’d be on the couch this weekend too. For my workouts I change it everyday and literally write my workouts into my planner. That way I have variety and know exactly what I’m doing when the alarm goes off in the morning. It’s been a game changer!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
so much good food!!!!! and those shoes on lucas – baby tennis shoes are freakin’ adorable!
Heather @Fit n Cookies says
You might have already known about this but I just discovered Grokker.com It has tons of workout videos, and range in intensity. If you click the fitness tab at the top, you can filter by time and intensity. I personally think there are way more intense ones than I’ve found on any other free website, and there are plenty of less intense ones. You do have to sign up but you don’t have to pay anything unless you want premium.
Courtney says
I think I may have known about it, but I totally forgot about it! Thanks so much for mentioning it again, Heather! Definitely checking it out :)
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
Baby jeans are so cute! We have a vent in the same place underneath our kitchen sink, and I always stay there for a while when I get home from work :).
Courtney says
I’m with ya! It’s perfect for when I’m standing and washing dishes haha ;)
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
bahaha to Lucas. Too funny! And look at you, hot mama!
Courtney says
…insert woman in red dress emoji… ;)
Emily says
The donut part stuck out to me…you had a craving, listened to it, satisfied it, and moved on. This is my goal :)
Courtney says
Yes!!!
haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
He is SO big!! What a cutie!!! It’s so chilly here, that I’m loving the heat from the vents too. Hahaha!
Courtney says
I’m with you! It’s in the perfect spot for if I need to be standing and washing dishes ;)
Tamara @ A Side Of Dessert says
I love these posts! I did a similar one this morning too. It gives you a little glimps into people’s lives!
Gillian says
thats one thing I miss about working in an office.. coworker friends and free wine! working from home/coffee shops is great, but sometimes i miss the camaraderie of an office.. at least I have my crossfit box to make up for it :)
Courtney says
Yes, I love having fun co-workers to go to work with everyday! Definitely helps if I need to be away from my little guy ;) But yes, haha, great that you have your crossfit box!
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie says
After my first week back at school, I am so looking forward to some quality couch time this weekend! I started planning out my workouts this past fall and it has helped SO much! I can better figure out which days to incorporate certain workouts and I have been a lot better about working around my schedule too.
Bethany says
Those blueberry cake doughnuts are my absolute favorite too! And I don’t even really like doughnuts!
Courtney says
Aren’t they amazing?!?! I could eat one everyday, I swear.
Christina says
I also love those blueberry cake donuts!! I had a random question. I’m 15 weeks pregnant and have felt great. We just got married in October so my body was definitely in workout mode…. But since the wedding, honeymoon and now pregnant, I’ve eased up a lot. I walk a round trip of about 2 to 3 miles in my commute for work, counts for something right?! I’m wanting to add in some light weight lifting.. Possibly DVDs. I also have piyo which I’ve been modifying. What were your favorite workouts and which DVD did you think was most beneficial
To you?
Courtney says
Hey Christina! I wrote about some of my favorite workouts for pregnancy in this post: https://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/2013/01/29/new-workout-new-workout-gear/ (loved the Pilates one!) and there’s also a couple of my other favorites mentioned in this post: https://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/2014/06/19/fitness-like-days/
Hope that helps! :)
Allie @ Running on Peanut Butter says
I cannot get over how long Lucas is! Wow he sure is a growing boy. And nothing better than a blueberry cake donut! My aunt got me addicted to those over 10 years ago, and I swear they are one of the best DD donuts!
Courtney says
You’re not kidding! I swear, every morning I go in and see him it looks like he grew another inch lol!
Hilary says
Have you tried the 21 day fix workouts? I’m doing my second round of the program now, but i seriously love the videos. Plus, they schedule themselves for you! I
Courtney says
I HAVE tried them, and yes, they’re awesome!!!
Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork says
Hey now! No making fun of us people with short arms! ;-)
You know what I’ve found helps me balance my workouts? A really simple spreadsheet that I keep in my Google docs. I tentatively plan out the week, including off days, allowing for adjustments as the week goes, then put it in a spreadsheet. It helps me make sure I get in a variety. Here’s what mine looks like: http://wholehealthdork.com/2014/04/30/quick-tip-keep-an-exercise-log/
Super nerdy, but it has worked really well!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Lucas is so tall! Wow, he’s getting so big. :-) Looks like such a fun week. Your company obviously throws an amazing party. Yay for girl’s night and happy Friday!
Ashley Carole says
I have heard great reviews about Insanity Max 30. After doing month one of insanity over and over… I never finished the second month due to the amount of time each workout takes. I think that the 30 minute workouts would make it feel much more attainable!
Christen says
I totally love the DD Boston Cream donuts. They are my weakness (and were a huge pregnancy craving for me!)
Cassie says
I hear you on staying home and doing nothing all weekend. I do want to try to make it to the Lee outlets, but part of me would be fine just sitting on the couch for 3 days.
Have you tried Cider Belly Donuts yet? They’re on Pearl Street in Albany and would knock your socks off. I picked them up once after a meeting I had across the street. I think they’re open on Saturday mornings, as well. You gotta try them!
Courtney says
Ahhhh, I have not yet been there but I believe I know one of the owners! I definitely need to get down that way – unfortunately it’s nowhere near where I typically go, but I think I’m going to have to make a special trip! Thanks for the reminder ;)
Anna says
I would defintely recommend Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown for a low impact workout! It doesn’t have you jump around or do circuits but will still get your heart pumping and make you sweat! I was super surprised at how intense it was when I first did it. The DVD has 2 30 minute workouts on it and they both just use body weight. I got mine at target for $10 but sure you could find it on amazon!
Courtney says
Oh my gosh, yes! I actually own that DVD and had totally forgotten about it…great reminder! Thank you!!!
Emily R says
Lol, I feel that exact same way about workouts lately. I have made a 4 week rotation of workout DVD’s and HIIT youtube videos to keep me on track each morning I wake up. Alternating between hardcore and light workouts. It helps me stay on track ;0)
Happy Friday and hope you have a nice Restful weekend =0)
Lizzie @ The Magic Tree says
Holy crap, Lucas is big! When did he get so long?! <3
Courtney says
No kidding!!! LOL I have no idea…it’s happened out of nowhere…
Christine says
it looks like Lucas is mid-burpee in that picture! lol
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Well, it’s a good thing your body doesn’t know what it wants, because variety is good! Sounds like you had a great week. I hope your weekend is just as fun, but maybe a little less busy!
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed says
kids’ sneakers shouldn’t be allowed to have laces. PITA!!!
Dena says
Blueberry cake doughnuts are my FAV, too! I mean, it’s practically like eating fruit for breakfast, isn’t it? ;)
Shel@PeachyPalate says
You had a busy ass week! I’d of had to put my donut in a separate box to make sure no one touched it!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Blueberry cake from Dunks is also my favorite donut. And I crave it wayyy too often!
I also feel like I’m in limbo with workouts lately too, but I think that’s mostly due to being 7 months pregnant! I tend to not plan them because some days I just totally can’t do what I planned. I’m doing PiYo now but also want something more intense sometimes.
Jennifer Lattin says
If you are looking for a new workout program/regimen, http://www.Fitnessista.com is starting her Winter Shape-Up on Jan 26th (I believe). She does a 4-week program which can be repeated for a total of 8-weeks. As you know, her workouts are great!!!
Marielle says
Omg a blueberry cake donut?! I don’t think I’d share that with anyone else either, ha! Have a good weekend!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I tend to have much more success when I plan out my workouts for the week. Even if it’s not too specific, just “M: upper body strength + a walk, T: lower body + a jog” etc. Just to have some sort of plan in my mind helps, but I also like to go with the flow some times, especially when I know my days will already be full to the brim.
Jenn@Mark My Miles! says
I love those blueberry donuts. Saturdays our little family hits up Dunkin donuts for coffee and donuts before story time. I look forward to it every week and refuse to switch up my order.
Sara says
I’ve been doing max 30 and it is so so good!!! It is more challenging than T25. Similiar to Insanity but shorter! I highly recommend getting it! :-)
Mandy says
Insanity Max 30 is NO JOKE!!! I’m on week 2 of it and it seriously kicks my butt (in a good way) :) Love that you do it until you max out and you try to beat your time every workout. Love that little personal competition :)
Kat says
I like to plan my workout for the week on Sunday. Usually I try to have at least one strength/weight lifting day and one day devoted to cardio. Then the other days I try to mix it up with pure barre and yoga!
