This weekend was just all sorts of awesome. So much so that I realized as I sat down to type up this post that I really don’t have too much to show for it. But that’s okay! Sometimes we should all take some time to step away from the cameras and whatnot to just…enjoy life.
And enjoy, we did! And, of course, I’m still going to have at least some pictures for you…
Because, well, I write this blog and all.
The big highlight, besides the absolutely GORGEOUS weather we had up here in NY, is the fact that we had some new toys to enjoy with it…including the new swing set! It was finally finished in the middle of last week, thanks to the help of Jay and my dad (they worked so hard on it…probably took a good 8-9 hours of total time for them both to get it put together!), and Lucas was quite excited to be able to have his friend Kaura over to play on it.
We had our friends (and former roomies!), Kanika and Shaheen, and their daughter Kaura over for a little outdoors play date and BBQ, and it was SO great to be able to catch up with them again. It had been a couple of months!
We kept things simple with some hot dogs and burgers on the grill, along with some french fries, green beans, and potato & mac salads that Kanika and Shaheen brought over. It was all so delicious and totally had me in my happy place. Spring and summer time grilling is where it’s at!
These two agreed.
And better yet? Our friends know us so well and even brought dessert. But my big question for you guys is…do you call these black & white cookies or halfmoon cookies?!?
When we weren’t with friends this weekend, we were totally busy working away around the house. Jay and two of our amazing cousins, Brian and Mike, spent almost a full day working entirely in the basement. The bad news is that they missed out on the awesome weather (and we missed daddy!), but the good news is that we have a ceiling in the basement!
Now I’ll be able to help Jay with the walls during the week, and we’re hoping to chip away at that in the evenings after Lucas goes to bed. We’re motivated to get it d-o-n-e!
I also took advantage of the beautiful weather and got a little blog work done during nap time.
And I think the most exciting part of Lucas’s weekend was the fact that we turned our sprinklers back on for the season. He’s been asking for them ever since we winterized them last fall, so the fact that they were back was a pretty major deal…if you couldn’t already tell.
Being able to sit out on the front porch with these two guys with the sun shining and the birds chirping?
It honestly doesn’t get much better than that. <3
Things I didn’t do this weekend that I’ll likely regret come the week? Food prep, a full grocery shop, and laundry. Oh, or workout. But hey…ahh well. We were too busy having fun.
How about you guys? Did you have a great weekend? Do anything fun or exciting??

What a great weekend, I mean sprinklers are cool! What a sweet face. Our weekend was the same; the weather was by far the standout and we enjoyed as much of it as possible!
