How ‘bout we start this morning off right…let’s talk cookies.
You guys already know that I’m a huge fan of sweets.
So when the lovely Allison from Goji Gourmet reached out to me, asking if I’d like to try some of their Goji Berry Cookies, I may have done a happy dance…or five.
Let’s just keep that between you and me though, mmmkay?
According to the Goji Gourmet website,
Goji Gourmet is committed to using Superfoods such as almonds, oats, oranges, ginger, honey, and walnuts to ensure that your sweet snacks still contribute to your overall well-being.
Our mission is to provide preservative-free (no icky chemicals!), low-sugar (we love antioxidant-packed buckwheat honey instead of refined sugar), low calorie and carbohydrate, nutrient-packed treats for you and your family to enjoy anytime of the day!
In addition to their many varieties of cookies, Goji Gourmet also offers a number of other goji berry products, ranging from raw juice and super chews, to candles, t-shirts, and mugs.
So what are Goji Berries? Did you know that goji berries have…
- 8x more antioxidants than pomegranates and 10x more than blueberries
- 500x more Vitamin C by weight than oranges
- 13%+ protein
- more iron than spinach of steak
- a natural aphrodisiac(!)
Within a few short days, I had a box of Goji Berry Cookies in my possession, and I couldn’t help but dig right in. I mean c’mon, they’re cookies for heaven’s sake!
I was sent four different varieties to try:
- Goji Cherry Cacao
- Goji Almond Oat
- Goji Ginger Walnut
- Goji Chocolate Chip
Right away, I noticed the small size of these little gems, which I suppose could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it.
But after checking out the nutrition facts, I’d say it’s definitely a good thing.
Knowing that I could eat 8 cookies and be within 200 calories made me want to sing to the high heavens. I mean, not that I would or anything, buuuutt….
My first bag of choice was the Chocolate Chip, and I was immediately surprised by the soft, chewy texture of these cookies. I guess I was anticipating more of a crispy, crunchy texture, but this was definitely a welcomed surprise, seeing as though I love me a chewy cookie.
The flavor was just what you’d expect from a classic chocolate chip, with the added flavor burst of goji berries. This bag has since been depleted of its stash. Woops.
The Cherry Cacao was my next flavor to try. I really enjoyed the sweetness of the cherry matched with the richness of the cacao flavor, and again, the soft and chewy texture.
For my own sake, I am saving the Ginger Walnut cookies, since having four (well, now three) open bags of cookies would be trouble. But by far, my favorite cookie out of the group is the Almond Oat.
The almond flavor is prominent enough to delight any almond-loving fan such as myself, but subtle enough to allow the flavor and texture of the oats and goji berries to shine through too.
In a word, it’s superduperknowckyoursocksofffantabulous.
So now that I’ve hopefully got you all craving cookies…how about you try your hand at winning some?!?
