I’m coming back from a fabulous Memorial Day weekend (which was much different than last year!), feeling awfully thankful not only for those who gave us the reason to celebrate, but also for all that I’m lucky enough to have. I’m always so appreciative to be able to have some extra time with family!
I honestly didn’t spend much time at the computer at all, or snapping all that many photos. I guess that’s sort of what happens when the only pants/shorts you are comfortable in don’t have pockets to hold your iPhone? It’s all good though, because I think we can all usually use a good couple of steps back from the electronics now and then. But to summarize what I did capture…
It was HOT this weekend. Sunny, hot, and beautiful. And while I’m not sure I’m necessarily ready for the 90+ degree weather, it was welcomed and embraced. We broke out the water toys and ran more times than I can count through the mist setting on the hose.
On Sunday, we headed up to Saratoga Lake for the usual family party but, sadly, the weather didn’t cooperate very well and we all wound up being stuck inside probably within an hour of arriving. I guess we’ll have to hit up a boat ride on the lake another day soon!
On Monday, Jay and I both spent the morning doing our respective errands and whatnot; he headed over to help his mom at her house for a couple of hours and I took care of the grocery shopping with “the grumpy one.” I say that because Lucas was definitely a little off the past two days, and was much more prone to outbursts and meltdowns than he usually is. We even had a fun little romp at the grocery store which resulted in me having to leave behind my entire cart with purse at the register as the cashier was trying to ring me out just so I could run across the whole store to try and grab my toddler on the run. Which resulted in a car ride home full of tears because he couldn’t have a treat.
Yes, after that, we came home and nap time happened pretty quickly. And then I put my feet up and breathed a quick sigh of relief because, whew, he had wiped me out.
Thankfully, a trip to Nan Nan and Papa’s house always seems to turn his moods around, and that’s exactly where we were headed yesterday afternoon. And the pool was even open, so Lucas was totally in his glory.
He just adores his Papa (and his Nan Nan!) <3
As do we. Because they rock, and also because they always feed us delicious food. BBQ dinner, for the win!
And that’s about the extent of what I have from this past weekend! As far as the “baby watch” goes, there’s still not much to be watching for, so no news as of right now (at 9pm on Monday evening). My next appointment is tomorrow (where I’ll need another ultrasound to check for my fluid levels) so I guess we’ll see what’s happening at that point! I’m sure that whenever things do go down, you’ll likely hear first about it via Instagram, so be sure you’re following!
How was YOUR Memorial Day weekend? Did you do anything fun or exciting?

It looks like you picked the best way to spend a warm weekend. It was so cool here in Ireland. I think the hottest it got was about 65 or so, so I feel like I’m being a bit spoiled, BUT, I don’t mind summer weather either. That means that getting in the pool is really enjoyable. I love how Lucas seems to embrace the pool and loves his Nan Nana and Papa. I found your blog through BGB Community Courtney, and I love the name.

Thanks so much, Emily! I had never heard of the BGB Community, but I’m so glad you found me. I hope to see you around! :)

It’s always great to take a step back, even if it’s because of a lack of pockets, ha! The weather was gorgeous in Michigan and we enjoyed water time as well!

Having followed along for years now (I remember following your pregnancy updates while prego with him religiously), I just cannot get over how big Lucas is getting. I swear every post he’s looking older / like a young man!

That sounds like an awesome weekend! Especially the tantrums… haha I work at a preschool and deal with several all day long.I totally get it! I went on a couple day trips here in Michigan over the weekend. I went to the zoo, Greenfield Village, and The Henry Ford Museum! Got lots of sun!

Oh my goodness, the grocery store episode sounds awful, haha! I just know those days are coming!! How are you feeling these days?? Getting closer!!

Sounds like a great weekend, minus the super hot and then not so great weather! It was like that here too and I got super hot and sunburned one day and caught in a downpour the next.
Does Lucas really like that water table? I was thinking of getting one.
Courtney says
He does! I’d say he was a little more into it last year (this year he’s just more easily distracted) but I definitely think it was a good investment!

Oh, do I fear the days that Cheerios won’t work to quiet the grocery store blues!
Love the relationship Lucas has with your parents- it’s very similar to our boys’ relationship with my parents and I love watching it grow!

Looks like such a nice weekend (perhaps minus the grocery trip! lol). I was so excited to see that you also joined the Food Summit! Your blog was the very first one I ever started following on a consistent basis, which, funny enough, was the week you had Lucas! Looking forward to hopefully becoming virtual blogger buds! Xo
