Soooo, did anyone fall for any good April Fool’s pranks yesterday?!? I was on high alert all day, so nobody was able to pull any fast ones on me. I did have fun, however, watching and listening to some various pranks/jokes playing out throughout the day. Sometimes they can get pretty darn funny!
*****
Yesterday was a bit shorter of a work day for me, since I had my 24 week prenatal appointment towards the end of the day. The appointment, which the doctor had already told me was a “boring” one, was pretty quick but anytime I get the chance to hear Baby Tooth’s heartbeat is never boring.
The doctor we saw yesterday actually used the doppler for a bit longer than normal, so we had lots of extra time to hear his strong beating heart. We even got to SEE him moving, which I talked a bit more about on this morning’s Baby Tooth update. So, so exciting! And everything is right on target and looking great, so I’m feeling awesome about things.
After our appointment, we headed home and put together dinner fairly quickly, thanks to some leftovers from the freezer and a quick batch of bread.
Back in January when I made the Cooking Light Potato Soup, we wound up with a bunch leftover so I decided to freeze it for another time. Well, yesterday was that time. While the soup reheated on the stove, I cooked up a few pieces of turkey bacon to crumble on top (YUM).
And I also baked up another loaf of our favorite Cheesy Italian Quick Bread. I subbed in half whole wheat flour this time, and it still turned out just as delicious. Can’t. Get. Enough. Of. This. Stuff.
Of course, there was also some dessert to be had, which was enjoyed after dinner while watching The Voice.
When there’s a basket full of Easter candy in the house, there’s no way it can go ignored. It just wouldn’t be right.

Questions for the Morning:
I’ll stick with my question above – any good April Fool’s jokes/pranks you fell for and/or heard?
What’s the best joke/prank you’ve ever pulled?
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
You keep talking about that bread. I’ve got to make it now! It looks sooo good.
That must be so exciting to hear your baby’s heart beat and see him moving! I can’t even imagine!
Jennifer@knackfornutrition says
Boring is certainly a good thing! But that is so exciting you got to hear his heart beat!! :)
Andrea @ Andrea out loud! says
No good ones this year! A couple years ago though me, Torrance, and my father in law played a trick on his dad’s friend… we listd ALL of his stuff in the newspaper classified for sale… vehicles, boat, jet ski, motor home, camper with his phone numbers so he got calls all day long. It was hilarious at first and he didnt know what was going on.. but after the 3rd day I started feeling really bad for him!!! he got nonstop calls!! haha
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire says
I’m not good at pulling off pranks at all, but one of my clients told me a hilarious story yesterday. Her younger sister had a pony when they were growing up, and one year when her sister was just 8, their parents woke the two of them up screaming and said, “You have to go find your pony! He got loose overnight and must have wandered away!” She said her sister burst into tears and was hysterical, until their parents burst out laughing and yelled April Fools! I thought it was hilarious although I’m sure I would have been crying just as hard if I were in her shoes. They got their parents back good a few years later though!
Melanie @ Beautifully Nutty says
Freezer leftovers are the absolute best—fast and tasty! Your dinner looks awesome!
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
No April Fools jokes around here! I’m one of those “not fun” people who hates April Fools Day, and most people in my life know it!
alyssa - life a la wife says
I have got to try that bread!!
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie says
I have to try that quick bread, looks so so good! And you look adorable!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Soups are one of my favorite things to cook for the sole reason of how well they freeze and reheat. It is like they were just made the day before!
And seriously..how can you NOT eat those Reese’s peanut butter eggs? They are the best! :)
Danica @ It's Progression says
Every time you post about that bread I make a mental note to try it–it just looks so good!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Growing up, I always got my parents with the rubber band around the sink spray nozzle trick. It was an evil one but they fell for it every year!
Kathryn says
I didn’t fall for any AFD pranks, mainly because, like you, I was on high alert and I just don’t believe any major announcements on that day. There was one going around on Facebook that made me sad, cuz it was one of those that kinda hurts. Let me explain. I, and many many others, and HUGE fans of Firefly, which only had one season. For years, Browncoats have been trying to get Firefly back on the air. Yesterday, someone posted a story saying they were bringing it back. Of course it wasn’t true, but it kinda hurt the heart.
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
I couldn’t imagine hearing your baby’s heartbeat ever being boring… IT’s great to hear that things are going so well with your little guy :)
I managed to avoid getting pranked, mostly because I was on super high alert. I didn’t even take any tea/coffee from anyone, fearing the classic salt-instead-of-sugar approach. I did manage to pull a good one on my mom, though… convincing her that I fell slipped and cracked my head open on the corner of a shelf. Lol actually now that I think back on it, it was kind of mean – I didn’t mean to give her such a scare, but at least I fessed up quick and didn’t give her too much of a scare.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
I stayed on high alert all day…nobody pulled anything on me!
I’m definitely going to make that bread the next time I make soup for dinner. it looks so good!
Lauren says
The voice is so good this year! Okay, and was it just me or was the former country music star horrid? I felt like I was listening to karaoke!
Lisa says
I was definitely on high alert too, no one pulled anything on me thankfully!
It’s great to hear the baby is doing great:) That for sure can’t get boring.
Amanda T says
I LOVE that bread!! I’ve made it several times, and each time it came out awesome
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl says
This prank was pretty funny…
A teacher at the school I work at brought in a baking sheet with brown “E’s” {made out of brown paper} covered with tin foil. She told her class that she had made “brownies” for them. Needless to say, they were a bit disappointed when she uncovered the baking sheet and they saw that it was brown paper E’s not brownies!!
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
I didn’t get any jokes played on me, but I did pretend to quit blogging and some people got fooled by that one hehe! Glad to hear baby tooth is doing well!
Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns says
No jokes on me yesterday :D That was nice for a change lol I guess the best joke I ever played on someone was my friend, I told him I was pregnant and he kind of freaked out.
Karen says
Happy April to you!! My husband got me really good with a prank. He sent me a letter from the heating & cooling guy saying that we owed $3,300 and my husband hasn’t paid or has been able to be contacted. I was so mad at the HVAC guy then Bob showed me the “fine print”…this is a joke. April Fool’s Karen. Man, he really got me this year. Now I have to find something to do to him..:) Any suggestions?
Erin @Axell's Kitchen says
I told my husband (at the time boyfriend) I was pregnant a couple of years ago. And I wonder why he thought I was joking when I really was pregnant and told him and he didn’t believe me!
Amanda, RD- The Nutritionist Reviews says
I work as an RD at a nursing home and the staff played a prank on me telling me that the sprinkler went off in the freezer (AKA huge disaster). I started running toward the huge walk in freezer and then quickly figured out that they were joking. Too funny!
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit says
I spy leftover Easter candy, yum! We’ve got some of that floating around & I’m loving it. Why does holiday candy taste so much better?
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I was on high alert too–b/c I usually fall for ’em. So nothing too exciting. I saw a few “i’m engaged” “I’m having a baby” ones–but they were all April Fools.
Yay for quick dinners!
Gracie says
I was like the town fool yesterday, haha. I fell for my best friend/business partner telling me we got a huge new client we’ve been after for months…was such a let down! I even fell for a fake proposal on the Today Show and nearly cried, ha!
Sue says
I almost woke up my 16 year old daughter yesterday telling her that the High School had called and said that since they had used up all their snow days, they were going to be cutting their Spring Break short and that she had to get up for school. I decided not to do that though because she wouldn’t have spoken to me for a long time!!! She likes her sleep too much.

Karen @ Runner Girl Eats says
I fell for everything. I am so gullible! I tried to pull one off on my fiance but he saw right through it. Guess I’m not a prankster!
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
We’re totally on the same page this week, I just pulled out soup from my freezer this morning to have for dinner tonight! haha
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
Ahhh you have me craving baked potato soup now, particularly from Corner Bakery! I love Panera’s but Corner Bakery takes it ooonnne tiny notch up. And I agree that any time we get to hear the heartbeat it’s just so exciting! But I definitely have to admit that seeing an ultrasound is the best!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
The vegetarian restaurant I worked with posted a pic on Facebook of a “lamb” stew…so many people fell for it!
Sara @ fitcupcaker says
Ive had way too much Easter candy myself, oh boy! I froze half of it!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
I HATE April Fool’s Day! I was so thankful it was a day off of school so none of my students had a chance to trick me!
Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate says
Mmm, bacon sounds like the perfect addition to that soup!
