Earlier today, I had to head over to the dreaded DMV to finally turn in my license plates from the ‘ol Chevy Cavalier. I’ve sort of been putting off the task since we sold the car last week, but I was beyond disbelief when I realized that I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. No joke. That never happens at the DMV, does it?!
I was more than excited to be home and walking through the door less than 20 minutes later, but I was not so excited to see what I walked in on…
Oh Cody.
Cody and I have had issues with him jumping up on the counters before. But clearly, he has no concept of boundaries today.
I immediately yelled at him laughed my face off and took pictures from my cell phone and reminded him again that counters are not for kitties. Sheesh.
Lunch
My appetite is a little off for some reason today, so I decided to keep things light to start for lunch.
I mixed 1 cup of plain Chobani with 1/4 tsp raspberry extract, which may have been the best idea, ever. It was an awesome way to add a subtle hint of flavor without the added sugars.
I then topped my “raspberry yogurt” with an abundance of berries, Fiber One 80 Calorie Honey Squares, and some Love Grown Foods granola.
I also snacked on some leftover carrots & celery from last Friday’s pizza order.
This has left me pretty satisfied for now, but I’m sure I’ll be in need of a snack a little later.
For now, time to go switch over some laundry and head out to the pool for a bit.

Question for the Afternoon:
If you have pets…what “naughty” things do they like to do? Do they get in trouble? Or do they “get in trouble?”
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Our dog loves the furniture but she knows it’s not allowed so she’s sneaky and only does it when we’re gone. We now have to “Ginger-ize” the house (her name is Ginger) before we leave which includes putting ottomans on top of the couch so she can’t jump up and closing the doors to all bedrooms to make the beds off-limits. Then we put random things like tv remotes on the remaining chairs in the house and we’re good! Quite the process but worth it to not have to vacuum hair off every surface when we come home!
Lisa @ Sunny Seed Stories says
DMVs are getting fast these days! I went a few months ago and was hardly able to sit down and reach for my phone to distract me before I was called. Now that’s what I call efficiency. :)
Corey @ Family Fresh Meals says
My cats ALWAYS nap on any clean clothes I leave out….. leaving them nice and hairy for me. ARG! It is funny, cause as I am typing this, I look over, and see my cat Dante snuggled up on a pair of fresh & clean yoga pants I just laid down on the couch. DOH! heheh
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Oh, Cody…his crazy antics always make me laugh! Hope you had a great holiday weekend, Courtney!
Silvia @ skinny jeans food says
Cody says “But granite countertops are nice and cool when it’s warm outside. Give me a granite cat bed then…” ;-)
Jen says
I woke up this morning and my jade plant was on the floor, again, with dirt everywhere….i wonder who did that in night…my evil cat!
Amanda says
I’ve got two cats, Squeaky (8 year old overweight tabby) and Benny (9 week old black kitten). Well, they love going on the counters. Not necessarily for food, but more that it’s high up and they can see everything and it’s cooler.
Mostly, though, I have to monitor their feedings. They’re both on special diets- Squeaky’s on “healthy weight” food and gets only a certain amount and Benny’s eating kitten food. I have to make sure Squeaky isn’t eating Benny’s food. Sometimes, they’ll switch bowls as soon as I put them down!!
Also, they love wires, string, cords. We have a little squirt bottle and we spray them whenever they’re playing with something they shouldn’t be!
Freya says
Haha, my cats used to have counter-boundary issues too!
My horse likes to sneak out of her stable, one step at a time, to get to the grass…but she is such a beautiful, good girl and if i actully say no, she stops immediately. It’s hard to tell something off when they are SO friggin wonderful though!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Ha, that pic of your cat on the counter has me laughing! I definitely would not be able to keep a straight face if I walked in on that.
Krissie J says
Aki is ALWAYS on the counters. Usually when she hears you coming towards the kitchen she jumps down and darts out at full speed because she knows she’s not supposed to be up there. Such a bad kitty. She likes to raid the sink, too.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
What a naughty kitty! Charlie is not so naughty, just needy. He alwaaays has to be by me!
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl says
what a pretty bowl! so holiday friendly! I still like the Red, White and Blue thing, even after July 4th. Love how the candy is half-priced too ;-)
Cody is adorable. I think mischievous pets are the best! The mischief adds the character! I remember when my beagle puppy Rip was little, he was cute and cuddly, but it wasn’t until he started getting all “bad puppy” on me that he developed his true character. Like most dogs – food was his weakness. If I left food out ANYWHERE, he’d find a way to get to it. He also magically broke out of several crates. Teeth of steel…
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Omigahhh girl I HATE the DMV! You are too lucky. Cody is a BAMF.
Meaghan says
I don’t have any real boundries for my cat because luckily she’s never been the type to want to jump up on counters etc. But she does have boundries with my boyfriend. She likes to hide in our closet and sleep on his clothes (never mine!) and it drives him crazy.
Khushboo says
Looks like domeone still has 4th of July fever ;)
Courtney says
Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing ;)
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
How cute! I would have had a hard time not laughing, too! :)
Lindsey says
My cat is constantly getting in trouble, jumping on counters, trying to steal food – her favorite is muffins/cupcakes and tuna, weird I know. Eating my flowers on the deck…
She is good when it comes to only scratching on her post – thank god!
She does get in trouble sometimes (I am weak) but when if I give her crap she comes after me – like revenge! She will chase me down the hallway till my husband tells her to stop. Brat!
Bethany says
My dog always lays in the window sill, a 57lb dog. Its so funny but so bad!! Haha
Angela @ Pinching and Packing says
My dog pretty much runs the house, and I think he knows it! He has a problem with going #2 in the house, but I just can’t bring myself to yell at him because he’s so stinkin cute! I dred the day I have to discipline an actual child!
Cait @ Urban Fencepost says
My puppy will do anything to get at paper products – especially the toilet paper!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I have two gerbils and I’m not sure they’re really capable of naughtiness! They’re always trying to climb up me or into my clothes if that counts :)
Jessica @ Stylish Stealthy and Healthy says
My dog Hendrix is a door frame eater. It’s ridiculous. You’ll be upstairs and all of a sudden hear this weird sound and there he is. Eating the door frame. I’ve tried hot sauce but guess what…he likes that too. Oh well at least he’s cute :)
Courtney says
Oh my gosh! Really?!? That’s crazy!
Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health says
Aw, Cody is cute- even when he’s doing something wrong haha. My animals definitely are mischievous- Mia (the dog) likes to tear apart shoes, and Cooper (the cat) loves to be on the table and counters and he likes to knock things off of them and then Mia will eat it. Sometimes they get in trouble, most of the time though, they “get in trouble”. They are just too darn cute to get mad at :)
Chocolate, Cheese and Wine says
I wish I had a pet – oh wait, does my boyfriend count ;)
Courtney says
Bahahaha ;)
Erica says
my dog likes to go in the shower and bite on shampoo bottles or shreads the toilet paper that’s on the extra tp stand.
Alison @ The Peacock Diaries says
Awww, he looks adorable! I like that he made a little nest for himself, as if to say, “I’m going to make myself REALLY comfortable”.
My dog is pretty good with boundaries, but every so often I walk in to find her standing on the coffee table. What the heck?!
Kelly says
It depends on what happened. I really think that pets and children are a lot alike in that they will test their boundaries to see what you will let them get away with. I have always had the best success when punishing a pet immediately after the incident occurs. If it something I don’t catch them in the act of doing then they don’t really seem to understand why you are so angry with them.
Sarah @ Food and Love Diaries says
My dog will find ANY napkin… seriously he pulls them for crevices unbeknownst to me.. and shreds them to teeny tiny bits. Drives me nuts!
Brenda says
I’ve seen a lot of bloggers use extracts lately. This may be a really stupid question but, I don’t think you’ll judge me so I’ll ask! What exactly IS extract?
Courtney says
Haha, Brenda…that’s a REALLY good question! I actually had to look it up for myself, and here’s what the ingredients are:
WATER, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, ALCOHOL (20%), EXTRACTIVES OF RASPBERRY, CITRIC ACID, FD&C RED 40, AND NATURAL FLAVOR
Amber @ Stop and Smell the Wildflowers says
Oh gosh, where to begin. With five dogs there are always shenanigans going on around our house. The worst is probably our lab who a) is obsessed with water and sits and barks non-stop when someone is watering the garden, and b) loves to pull up all the flowers in the garden when we forget to shut the gate. She has also chewed up two of our TV remote controls. :/ But she’s so cute and she hates to get in trouble. She’s got the puppy dog eyes down!
Laura says
hahah Cody is so cute!! :D
I love mixing plain chobani with a tbsp of raspberry jelly, or any jelly really. I also add grapes. So good!
Shayla @ The Good Life says
Finally got caught up on blog reading! Looks like you had a wonderful weekend of sweets just like me ;)
Although my tummy is feeling way off too from all those treats! :(
I’ll have to try adding extract into my yogurt, great idea since I’m trying to lessen my splenda consumption!
We don’t have any pets but we hope to get a doggie soon!
