Hello, hello! How are you all doing so far this week? Good? Great?!
Since I already had yesterday’s post scheduled to go live, I didn’t really get a chance to update you all on the weekend. So I figured I’d go ahead and do that today, since I’m sure you’re all waiting on the edge of your seat for it.
Where is that sarcasm font when you need it?
Date night on Friday night for Jay’s company party! I wore my same Target dress as I did for my company party, but paired it with knee high boots and a scarf.
Jay took full advantage of his built in designated driver and may or may not have been drinking out of the award he and his team are holding there. I missed being able to just drink the good stuff out of a regular glass.
Sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches are always a delicious breakfast option. Even better when they’re made by someone other than yourself (amiright?!).
Our bedroom and Lucas’s bedroom both have all sorts of paint samples on the wall currently. Good news is that I think we have our colors narrowed down to just one or two per room, so we’re getting somewhere!
Saturday was a lazy day for all of us, and we all stayed home in our PJ’s or cozies all day. Oh, and Lucas is still keeping us on our toes for where he decides he wants to nap these days.
One of Lucas’s favorite things to ask (usually right when I’m about to do something else/leave the room/start cooking dinner/etc.) is “Mommy, snuggle couch?!” Usually I’ll come back and he’ll sit with me for about two seconds, but this weekend, he gave me some extra snuggles which I adored.
We rounded out a chill Saturday with a quiet night on the couch and some popcorn (not usually a big craving of mine, but had to have some). Cody is obsessed with popcorn, and came running up to the couch as soon as I opened the bag.
We break off little pieces with no kernels and he goes to towwwwwn on them. Seriously, since when do cats like…popcorn?
Sunday morning, I met up with a bunch of our girlfriends for a “style party” at the LOFT. My friend Christina won it, so we were all invited in and got an additional 20% off on top of their current sales!
Girfriends + shopping + extra discounts + mimosas + baked goods? Best. morning. ever.
My selections are fairly limited currently, with the growing bump and all, but I did score a cozy grey shirt off the clearance rack for about $10, along with this cardigan and the necklace shown (which I can’t seem to find on their website anywhere?!).
Sunday afternoon, we headed over to the open house at Lucas’s soon-to-be preschool come the fall.
The place was packed, and Lucas had a blast checking out all of the new toys and sliding down the big slide you see back there.
Turns out, preschool is tiring! Enough so have him actually nap on his “floor bed” (aka, the only place he still sleeps at night).
We tried a new dinner on Sunday night – Cheesy Skillet Gnocchi + some big side salads. The gnocchi dish was good, but a little too salty…we’d definitely cut that way down next time if we made it again.
And that’s a wrap of our weekend!
How about you guys? How many of you were snowed in?? I’ll be honest…I’m super glad it missed us! :)

Style party, pj day and a date night- what a weekend! At one point we had five shades of blue on our wall trying to pick the perfect color. It is one of life’s greatest challenges!
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
We got 20″ and I haven’t been out of this house since Thursday afternoon. I.am.going.CRAZY.
On a more positive note, I think you guys are doing such a great job with Lucas and his bed. As a new mom, I tend to get worked up when things don’t happen the way I want them to, and I’ve been trying my damndest to take a more relaxed approach to things. Maybe the location of his bed/nap hasn’t ever frustrated you, but what I’m trying to say is, you guys are great parents. I hope that when Jack is that age and doesn’t want to sleep anywhere but on the floor or in his glider, or won’t eat foods unless they’re a certain color, or any other quirky situation that will *absolutely* arise, that I’m as good about it as you guys are! <3

You are so sweet, thanks girl! It stressed me out for a little while (kids are supposed to sleep in beds, all cozied up under the blanket!?!), but I figured hey, he’s sleeping, he’s safe, and he’s fine. So we’re just rolling with it for now :)
Taylor says
Looks like you guys had a really nice weekend! We didn’t get any snow and I am so happy about it. Have a great week!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
low key weekends are the best! :) we went to a football party on sunday night at my parents’ and it was catered by a sandwich shop (snarf’s) and we came home with A TON of leftovers – sandwiches all week for the win! :)
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I should admit I was a bit jealous of the snow…just because I like any reason for a snow day to stay home from work. ;)
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
My cat loves popcorn too! and cheerios… lol
Hilary says
So weird our cats totally do that popcorn thing too haha
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Preschool already?! Gah, cue the emotions! The snuggle couch thing is too adorable!
Courtney says
You’re telling me!!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
When my parents bought their house about eight years ago, we had a good two-month period of patches of similar colors on all our walls so my mom could figure out which colors she liked best in all the lighting. I honestly thought it was the craziest thing at the time (I was in 6th grade), but it makes a lot of sense. I’m glad to know other people do it, too! And the “snuggle-couch” thing totally made my heart melt. So sweet!
Jenna @ Crazy Healthy Fit says
My husband was in Las Vegas for a Bachelor Party, so my mom came to keep me company for our snowy weekend. I was so happy that she came since we were stuck in the house all weekend.
I’ve never been one to test paint by putting it on the walls, I always just pick one and go with it. I feel like I’d end up buying 5 buckets of paint and then only using one!
Courtney says
Haha, luckily they make mini sample cans, so you don’t have to get the huge buckets of each color ;)
Beks says
My cat, Henry, LOVES popcorn. So did my old roommate’s cat. Like, obsessive-trying-to-take-the-bag-away-from-me-obsessed. I feel like it’s only boy cats that like popcorn, though. My girls never seem interested.
Skigirl0891 says
Hey girl! Two things:
1) you MUST get the Home Depot paint app that lets you take a pic of the room & see the wall color!
2) this is coming from a good place, just a thought, microwave popcorn is soooo bad for you from a chemical standpoint (carcinogen), & I know you are pregnant, so I wanted to let you know in case you already didn’t!
Courtney says
Thank you! I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I had microwave popcorn (months? a year?!), mostly for that reason so I do try to keep it in moderation. ;)
And I’ll definitely have to check out that app!
Kristen says
I had to laugh when I saw your son sleeping on the ground! My son did the same thing until he turned 3. They’re funny!
Courtney says
Haha, glad to know he isn’t the only one! I often wonder how long this will go on for! What was the turning point for your son?? Did he just one day change his mind??
Kristen says
I SO wanted him to sleep in the crib that converted to a toddler bed because it was cute, just his size, I’d bought bedding and bedroom accessories that matched and the list goes on…but I finally just decided to buy a full bed for his room and bought a rail thing for one side. We shoved the other side against a wall so he would feel safer and we laid with him to get him used to it. He slept on the floor for a solid 18 months though before that worked! Kids are funny! I’m totally with you on if they’re sleeping, that’s all that matters.
Erica says
Aww I can’t wait for our preschool days! He looks so excited to start his.
Ruthie Hart says
Lucas looks SO TALL!
Amy says
I slept on a “floor bed” until I left for college, I think. Once I got married I kicked the habit….so be patient with Lucas. :)
Olivia @cravebalance says
That snuggle picture of Lucas is adorable! Such a cutie (: I got about 3 inches of snow. Wasn’t too bad and it was a perfect laid back weekend not leaving the house!
Monika says
My cat loves popcorn too! But then again, my cat will eat anything ;) #streetcat
Bethany says
My cat comes running for the ice cream! Loves it!
