Thank You Chris Powell

Good morning! Welcome back to this lovely thing we call Monday. Did everyone have a great weekend?? I’ll tell ya…I mean, my weekends almost always seem to whiz right by, but this weekend in particular seemed extra quick. So much going on!

So Jay and I stayed up late (by my standards) last night to watch the whole episode of Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition. I really enjoy this show because I love getting to watch the contestants continue to make progress over the course of a full year, and see just how far they’ve come…

Alright, well actually? I really just like watching the show for the opening introduction when Chris Powell is jumping rope and boxing shirtless.

Okay okay, I’m kidding. Sort of. I like to watch him, but I really do like watching the show too. Winking smile

During last night’s episode, Chris gave one of his fitness tips on how we (the viewers) should get up and moving during the commercial breaks. I’m typically too lazy to ever even bother, but I was apparently feeling a little spunky last night, so I forced Jay to do some exercises with me. We both did four commercial breaks of 15 crunches, 15 push ups, and 15 squats, and while it may not seem like much, it definitely adds up!

So Chris Powell, if for some odd reason you have to be reading this, thank you so much for getting my butt moving last night and giving me two hours worth of inspiring, quality TV eye candy.

Despite a later bed time, I knew I have a busy day ahead of me today, so I made sure to be up early enough to get my workout taken care of. Today’s plan consisted of:

I have no idea if it’s because of how I slept or what, but my shoulders were screamin’ during that yoga workout. In fact, they’re STILL super sore. I think I need a good, quality neck massage…Jay? Chris Powell? Winking smile

Tooooootally delicious breakfast happenin’ today.

I whipped up a basic batch of oatmeal this morning and layered it into my empty jar of Justin’s honey peanut butter. I say layered, because I actually took the time to add some granola in between…check this out.

A layer in the middle + a layer on top was absolute perfection. I always get so bummed once I eat all the granola off the top and then still have at least half a jar/bowl of oats (or yogurt) left.

The same thing goes for ice cream cones with sprinkles. Jay and I always say that there needs to be a way to somehow get the sprinkles right in the ice cream. That way you still get to love them the whole time, and not just for the first five minutes of licking them all off so you don’t spill them down the front of your shirt.

Gotta jet…time to head to work!

Question for the Morning:

Do you ever get up and moving during commercial breaks while watching TV?

Blend Retreat: The Final Recap

Well, we’ve finally made it to my final recap of the Blend Retreat. I still need to work on putting together a recap of all the fun that was happening here in NYC yesterday, which will hopefully happen later today. But for now, let’s talk Colorado.

I honestly can’t even begin to tell you what an incredibly awesome weekend it was, and I’m SO glad I made the last minute decision to attend (after being easily persuaded by Ms. Alyssa). The people were great, the sponsors were amazing, and the swag? Oh man, it was out of this world. I realized that I actually never took any photos of our swag bags, but Jillian did – feel free to check out our spread of goodies!

Before I forget, I need to backtrack a bit…do you guys remember when I told you I had the chance to meet the one and only Justin himself from Justin’s Nut Butter? Well, here’s my proof!

Maddy from Love Grown had taken this photo before we started our tour and I had totally forgotten about it until I saw it over on Lindsay’s post. (Speaking of, her recap post is awesome, so feel free to check it out – she did a much better job of capturing scenes from the whole weekend than I did!).

I should also add that when I received that awesome box of goodies from Love Grown, this little gem happened to be hiding out in there…

Oh yes. It’s just like a Snickers bar, but better. And healthier. And it was thoroughly enjoyed last night while hanging out with Jay after work. I have yet to see them anywhere, but you can bet that I’ve got my eyes peeled for ‘em.

So now…on to the recap! On Sunday, we all had another early morning wakeup call for bootcamp, which was led by the Chobani Fit team.

The bootcamp had us broken into groups and completing a number of different stations of workouts that ended up hitting the whole body. It was a bit chilly on Sunday morning, so I was glad that we got things moving quickly.

Once we were finished bootcampin’ it, we were treated to another delicious breakfast spread, sponsored by Chobani.

Fresh fruit, vanilla CHO, Love Grown granola, half a cinnamon raisin bagel with PB&J and some more yummy coffee. Filling, delicious, awesome.

After breakfast, the group gathered around for closing ceremonies and a raffle where I’m pretty sure there were enough giveaways for everyone to win something.

I ended up winning a Chobani Fit hat and bag, but never took a photo. Woops. But I did finally get a chance to meet my wonderful and awesome Chobani friends!

Once the raffle was over, everyone headed back to pack up, said their goodbyes, and before I knew it, I was on my way back home. I shared a cab to the airport with Alyssa and Jillian, and since we all had a little bit of time before our flights took off, we decided to grab something to eat…

I’m starting to think I may have a problem?

Alyssa and I opted for a fro yo “lunch” of sorts to help get us through our travels.

Hey, sometimes it’s just necessary, mmmkay? Winking smile

From there, the rest is history – I made it back home safely and I now have a full weekend full of amazing memories with some incredible ladies.

I’m already looking forward to going back again next year.

A great, huge, enormous, big ‘ol thank you to Janetha, Lindsay, and Katie for making this happen! Smile

Touring with Love Grown Foods

Alright. Let’s talk about one of the most awesome afternoons EVER right now.

On Friday, after arriving at the airport and meeting up with this gal, the two of us found a few other of our Blend Retreat friends and were quickly greeted with a snazzy pick up service, in the form of the Love Bus!

A few of us Love Bloggers had been in contact with the wonderful Maddy for a few weeks leading up to the event, and she most graciously offered to not only be our “chauffeur” for the afternoon, but also to bring us to visit the “Love Pad.”

This girl has more energy than I will ever have in my entire life. She is seriously just amazing, and the passion she has for her product only makes me “love the Love” that much more.

So our crew boarded the bus and began our trek from Denver to Boulder…but, of course, with a couple fun pit stops on the way.

First up: The Love Pad!

Maddy brought us to the place where all the “love” happens, and it was honestly just so cool to be able to see all the “behind the scenes” things that we don’t typically get to see as consumers.

One of my favorite parts? The fact that the main focal point in their office was this awesome ping-pong table, which they actually made themselves using empty granola bags. Umm, I want a ping pong table in my home office…

Maddy also showed us the evolution of the Love Grown Foods bags; at first, they started out buying bags in bulk and would manually place the stickers on each and every bag. Now, they have their bags specially designed. So cool.

We also got to see their production room, which I’m sure you’re wondering why the heck it looks so empty? Well, the company has been doing SO well, that they are actually in the process of moving to a larger facility that will be producing their granola in much larger quantities. I’ll talk more about that in a few…

The Love Bloggers! Alex, Sarah, Me, Alyssa, Bobbi, Lindsay, Brittany, and Maddy.

Before leaving from the Love Pad, Maddy was so kind to give us all an amazing goody box filled with things from some of their favorite Colorado-based companies. Again, these folks are just incredible.

They made Alyssa and I quite happy. Winking smile

We boarded the bus again, goody boxes and all (plus a creeper shot of me in the mirror there) and headed to our next destination.

Our next stop before heading to the Retreat brought us to the new facility where Love Grown Foods will be processed, Fresca Foods.

While we weren’t able to bring cameras into the facility, we had the opportunity to get a tour of the whole facility which was just awesome. Have you ever watched “Unwrapped” on the Food Network? Yeah, it was just like that…

We got to see where and how the products are tested, which was so neat, but we also got to see the production of a few different companies, including Larabar and Justin’s Nut Butter. We had the opportunity to try a Larabar fresh off the line (it was so soft and gooey, just like eating a ball of nut butter, honestly) AND we even got to meet Justin himself!

He happened to be at the facility that day, checking out a new piece of equipment they were bringing in to speed up the production of his nut butters. He was such a cool, down to earth guy, and it honestly took all of me to not be screaming “oh my god, I love your nut butter.”

Would that have been weird? Maybe…ahh well.

So after our tour of Fresca Foods, we were off to our final destination for the weekend…

Chautauqua Park!

More info to come! Smile
