Well, I don’t know what it’s like where you are today, but it’s a beautiful tropical paradise over here today!
The sun is shining, the water is warm, the birds are chirp…
HAHA, yeah right. Who am I kidding? Here’s my real “tropical paradise”…
Don’t we look super excited about it? ;)
It may not be a tropical paradise, but it certainly is a Winter Wonderland.
I’d say we’ve probably got about 12-14 inches of snow out there, but unfortunately, Mother Nature did not play by my rules with this storm…
You see, there’s only 2 times when a snow storm is acceptable:
- BEFORE Christmas.
- On a day where I can at least get a “Snow Day” out of it from work.
Double fail on this one Mother Nature!
I guess we won’t be grilling anytime soon. ;)
So as you may have been able to tell from above, shoveling was a big part of our morning. I really despise shoveling, but I try to look at it as a bonus workout. Hey, whatever gets ya through, right?
Workout(s)
After finishing up Workout #1 for the day, I headed on down to the treadmill for Workout #2: A mish-mash of mostly running + some walking for 40 mins, totaling 4 miles.
Breakfast
All that hard work this morning definitely worked up an appetite! Lucky for me, I’m on vacation this week so I had time to make Pumpkin Oatmeal! :-P
And to make things even better, I have lots of homemade pumpkin bread in the house…what better oatmeal topping is there than that??
So did you guys check out that adorable little spoon???
I’m in love!! It actually came as a set with this monogrammed coffee mug that I got for Christmas from the hubby. He did his best to try to find me a replacement after breaking my Anthropologie mug…
I think I like this one even better. It’s so cute! He said he was able to find it at Kirkland’s, and I’m not surprised. Kirkland’s is a GREAT store. :)
And that mug of coffee you see there? Yes, it was wonderful because it wasn’t just any ordinary coffee…it had 1/2 a packet of this French Vanilla hot cocoa mix added in.
It was phenomenal. :)
Now it’s time to go tackle the living room…as much as I love the holidays and the decorations, my home just doesn’t have enough room to hold the contents of my kitchen throughout every room AND all the Christmas decor. Time to make some space!
On a side note, I’m pretty excited to announce that I’m actually going to be eating a real dinner in my house tonight. Thank you, slow cooker! I’ll be sharing it with you all a little later this evening. ;)
Question for the Day:
How long do you keep your decorations up after the holidays are over?
Stefanie says
That cup is adorable! :)
Honestly, I barely put any decorations up this year! We always spend the holidays at my parents house, so I usually just help my Mom decorate!
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
I’ve never seen more than a few inches of snow at a time (I’m a Florida girl, what can I say? But I will be moving to the North in a few years!), but it doesn’t look fun.
I love the cup! It’s super adorable.
We really don’t put up too many decorations, but they come down about 5-7 days after Christmas.

When I was little I made my family leave our tree up until my birthday- on January 27!! One year we actually kept it up until Valentine’s day. Now we take it down the second week in January. The needles always got SO dry!
Courtney says
We’re almost birthday buddies! My birthday is January 30th :)
Allison says
I’m keeping my decorations up until the 2nd week of January. Well, mostly just my tree and nutcrackers, because my fiancee is deployed over Christmas! no worries because he comes home really soon and we’ll celebrate Christmas when he does :)
Your new mug is fabulous!
Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) says
I was going to take down my holiday decorations today but it didn’t happen. I usually keep them up until New years though.
Shayla says
I love to keep mine up until after the New Year!
By the way, I wanted to let you know that my sister and I made your Turtle Graham Bars and they were phenomenal!! So delicious and they were our #1 hit at our Christmas Eve party! Everyone loved them and raved about them! I still have some leftover and enjoying a few at night for a sweet treat! Thanks again! :)
