Hey, friends! How was the weekend?
Ours was good, but I actually don’t have all that much to show for it. On Friday night, Jay cooked an AMAZING dinner of chicken sausage, sautéed spinach and tomatoes over pasta with a garlic butter sauce. It was absolutely out of this world!
^^Having fun on Instagram stories still!
On Saturday, we headed out as a family to a party at Brian & Mal’s house to celebrate Brian’s birthday.
It was HOT (temp said it “felt like” 108 and humid) and unfortunately, it wasn’t working too well in our favor with the kiddos. Lucas hadn’t napped and Alex wasn’t feelin’ a nap in the heat (nor was I with rocking him around in it!) so we, sadly, had to scoot out after a couple of hours.
Such is life with kiddos sometimes, right?
Well, besides the very brief recap of our weekend, I’m popping in quick today to share something a little different and totally fun. And something that I think many of you may really be interested in!
For those of you with kiddos at home, I’m sure you know all too well about the importance of books (and how it seems like, no matter what, you can never have too many of them!). Well, I was just recently introduced to a company called Usborne Books and have decided that I’m going to be hosting an online party later this week…and I’d LOVE for any of you to join!
Usborne Books is the 2014 Children’s Publisher of the Year, offering over 1700 books for babies through young adults.
Before I decided to commit to the party, the lovely Molly (who had reached out to me from the company) offered to send a book for both Lucas and Alex to check out. And let me tell you – they are both HUGE hits over here.
Lucas’s book is one of their new shine-a-light books, which allows the kids to try and find the “hidden” picture through the back of the page. It’s been one of his favorite books to look through ever since we got it!
Alex’s book, 123 Counting, is also fantastic.
It’s perfect for young eyes (black & white with bright colors) and is also made accordion style, making it great for tummy time (which isn’t always a favorite over here…).
And Lucas has recently taken a liking to reading it to Alex which is absolutely adorable.
From what I’ve experienced, the Usborne books are totally impressive, fun, engaging, and educational, and I can’t wait to get my hands on some more to add to our library! (Usborne actually released over 100 NEW titles in July that are great for babies and school-aged readers, too.). I’m definitely planning on doing a little early Christmas shopping (my mom would be proud).
The online party is going to be this Thursday, August 18th at 8:30pm ET, and I’d love to have you guys join in! There will be some great demos and we’ll explore some best-sellers, newly released titles, and even have book recommendations personalized to YOU and your family. And better yet, you can join right from your own couch!
CHECK OUT THE BOOKS HERE!!!
If you think that you’d be interested in joining, please be sure to Facebook message Molly (https://www.facebook.com/mollyben.petsch) asking for an invite and you’ll be added to the party page (we’re only adding people to the party who WANT to be added, as opposed to being added without being asked). **UPDATE: Just be sure to message Molly with your email address so she can send you an invite via email!
Once you’re added to the party, be sure to RSVP for a chance to win a free book, too!
FYI: This is in no way a sponsored post and there is certainly NO pressure for anyone to join the party. I’ve invited many of my close friends and family and after talking with Molly, she said I could totally open it up to my blog readers, too! So if it’s not your thing, then no problem-o! I’m just really excited about them and looking forward to getting some more books for the boys!
If you’re unable to join the party but are still interested in checking out the books and/or want to order, you can absolutely do so!
CHECK OUT THE BOOKS HERE!!!
The party will be totally fun, informational and will have some giveaways, but anyone can shop anytime. So feel free to share the party link with anyone you think may be interested! And if you or anyone wants to make a wishlist, just register on the site and you can then make and save one.

I was introduced to Usborne in the fall and all of the books are a huge hit at our house!! The things to spot and shine a light books are great! My daughter (almost 3) has been obsessed with the things to spot books for over 6 mos. The mouse about the house and nibbles books are also great and the selection of flap books is endless. It’s so hard to decide what to get!!

Usborne books are amazing! My 2-year-old (soon to be 3-year-old, what?) LOVES his Big Book of Machines and Big Book of Dinosaurs. And the space book, and reading That’s Not My Duck to his baby sister and other ones I know I’m forgetting about here. Actually waiting on a new order I just placed too – they really are fantastic.
