1. Have you guys hearrrrrrd? Dunkin Donuts now has almond milk!
Pretty sure that calls for a latte today. Possibly of the pumpkin variety? Or something like that because, you know, it’s that time.
2. So I had been holding off on pumpkin drinks until #1 up there, so we’ll see about that. But that doesn’t mean I’m not diving in to my stash of fall candles!
This one is one of my favorites from Yankee Candle, but have you seen some of the scents Bath and Body Works has this season? Oh myyy.
3. I did a little baking again this week…who am I?!
Can’t wait to share this one with you guys. It’s a total winner and perfect for fall.
4. Totally cliché here and keeping the pumpkin theme going, but I absolutely, 100% need to make this Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow from Sally’s Baking Addiction.
Hey Mal – I think this has your name written all over it, no?!
5. I noticed that all of the fall beers were out on store shelves by at least mid-August, but I would not allow myself to have any until September hit. So on September 1st, I enjoyed my first Octoberfest of the season.
Mmmmm.
6. My mom was wearing Dolce & Gabbana The One the other day and I am absolutely in love with it. I need to try it on myself to see if I like it on me, but if it’s anything like Light Blue, I’m sure I’m gonna love it. I used to wear that perfume allll the time back in the day.
7. I’m so bummed the show Mistresses is over for the season! I am obsessed with the show, and with the way the season finale ended on Monday?! Gahhhh! I can’t believe I have to wait until the beginning of next summer for it to come back. But on the flip side? Nashville starts in just a few weeks, AND I’m also kind of excited to see the show How to Get Away with Murder. Previews are lookin’ good?!
8. So I’ve suddenly gotten bit by the “I must DIY everything in sight” bug. It started out because I really want to recreate a wall in our kitchen to look something like this…
Or maybe this…
Or maybe this…
And now, I have not only found myself addicted to the blog Shanty 2 Chic, but I also want to do just about all of the DIY projects she has listed on there. It’s bad…especially since I’m not the most crafty person on the block. But we’ll see what I can put together, because I’m at least determined to get that wall done! If you have any tips, feel free to send ‘em my way.
9. So have I ever told you guys about the super crappy skin condition I have? It’s called Keratosis Pilaris and basically, it makes my arms look like cucumbers. It sucks and it’s gross. I’ve been to the dermatologist for it (since it got a lot worse after pregnancy), and they pretty much told me I’m SOL. Blah.
10. Okay so I’ve never been that into them, but all of a sudden, I feel like I absolutely need a pair of TOMS. It started when I found a pair of the Metallic Burlap Women’s Ballet Flats online and realized that they didn’t all look the same. But then I kept browsing and found these and these and I feel like, man, I kinda think I need them in my life? What do you guys think…do I need them?
Okay friends, I’m done for today! What’s good for the weekend? Any good plans on the agenda??
Erica House says
I snagged 4 of the Fall candles from Bath and Body Works already. Pumpkin Cupcake is always my #1 but Harvest Pumpkin & Pumpkin Cinnamon Bun were both SO good!
Brynn says
I’m so happy to see almond milk at at least one coffee shop. It’s about time! Also, I have those Toms and LOVE them!
Kim@ FITsique says
Lol I love that the first half of this post is pumpkin related :) Secret: I never gave up my pumpkin obsession over the summer. I still included pumpkin in almost all of my meals and even had a pumpkin ale in AUGUST!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
All the pumpkin in this post makes me veryyy happy!
Torry @ Working on a Dream says
I love my TOMS – I would totally tell you to get a pair. My best friend is getting married next weekend and she bought a pair in yellow to wear with her wedding dress!!
Courtney says
OMG how adorable is that?!? I love that!!
haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine.com says
looove this fall post. and hooray for almond milk! i’m headed there asap!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
I spy pumpkin bread!!! I’m thinking I need to make pumpkin ice cream soon!
Kari @ Kari On says
Those Tom’s ballet flats are adorable! I think they might need to be added to my wish list as well. They look perfect for fall. Also, my sweet tooth has been a little out of control lately so I am looking forward to that recipe! Happy Friday :)
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
I’m psyched that Dunkin Donuts now has almond milk! I never go there for their lattes because both regular milk and soy milk bother my stomach. Now I can get one!!! Yay!!!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I wish I liked DD coffee because I love that they now carry almond milk…I hope Starbucks jumps on the almond milk train.
Amanda B says
Get the Toms you’ll be glad you did. I bought an adorable green print one that I had to have and never liked Toms, but they’re comfy and practical!
Katie H. says
I wore a hole through my first pair of Toms- my new ones just arrived. Love them!
I’ve heard good things about these products for KP- pricey but might be worth a shot!
http://www.dermadoctor.com/conditions/keratosis-pilaris
Hope all is well!
Courtney says
Thanks Katie! I’m gonna look into that stuff. :)
Good to know about the Toms! Would you say they’re true to size??
Katie H. says
I’m usually an 8.5- with my first pair I ordered an 8 (they didn’t have half sizing and it was recommended to size down) and they fit perfectly (maybe a little snug at first but they stretch). With the new sizing I ordered an 8.5 and they are def true to size!
Michelle says
Try any lotion with lactic acid for your KP. It takes a while, but it helps.
Courtney says
Thanks, Michelle!
KATIE @ RUNNING4CUPCAKES says
Yes for the BBW fall scents! I haven’t let myself go in there yet because I know I’ll want to buy them all! And I have a pair of those TOMS and LOVE them. And I love that idea of hooks and pictures for the kitchen!! Also, Advocare just came out with an amazing new skin line – I think it might help your arms. . . the face wash has a little bit of a scrubbing beads in it but not too harsh for everyday use – but helps to break down that bumpy skin. Just a thought.. . happy Friday! Enjoy that latte this morning. :)
Brittany says
I have Keratosis Pilaris as well and coconut oil has done WONDERS for it. I had always used moisturizer with no success but the coconut oil makes it SIGNIFICANTLY less bumpy. I apply every time I get out of the shower, just be careful putting on your shirt after because it WILL leave grease marks.
Courtney says
Oooo, maybe I’ll try that after some dry brushing? Good tip, thanks Brittany!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Yay, I love all your fall-related things. I got a PSL at Dunkin with almond milk this morning and it was AMAZING! Def worth the 50 cent upcharge for the milk.
I was all crazed about TOMS for a while too. I got some for my birthday last year and can no longer wear them. They are THE most uncomfortable shoes :( I got burlap ones though, so I think they are tighter material than the regular fabric ones. The 7.5 was slipping off, but the 7 is like SKIN tight. Just make sure you get pair that actually feels like it fits!
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire says
I was SO happy when I got that email! I need to get to Dunkin ASAP now and get my hands on some pumpkin coffee! I haven’t let myself get one yet but I think it’s time. Also, the new pumpkin Chobani is the PERFECT yogurt for overnight oats. Or anytime, really.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
So I used to have minor keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms, but I started dry brushing daily (http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-7955/why-you-should-start-dry-body-brushing-today.html) and mine completely disappeared as long as I keep up with the dry brushing. Maybe give that a shot? It could help!
Courtney says
Thank you so much for sharing that, Sam! Just found a body brush on Amazon that I think I’m gonna buy, haha. Hopefully that’ll work!
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie says
Oh my goodness, that Mistresses finale! How are we supposed to wait until NEXT summer??!
Courtney says
RIGHT?!?! Gahhhhh!!
Julie says
I used to have that same skin condition, but it disappeared after we had our water softener/filtration system installed. (We’re on village water, so it was also really nice to get rid of the chlorine-taste.)
Courtney says
Oh really? That’s interesting…never really thought about that. Hmmm…
Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats says
So many things to tell you!
1. DD + almond milk = game changer.
2. Also *completely* addicted to Shanty2Chic and now want to redo everything in my home.
3. TOMS – DO IT!! I resisted for so long because let’s be real they’re not the cutest shoes in the world but they are so. comfortable. you won’t even care! :)
TGIF!
Courtney says
Hehehe…
1. Totally agree.
2. Glad I’m not the only one.
3. I’m sold!! Would you say they’re pretty true to size??
I owe you an email! ;) xoxo
kristin @ W [H] A T C H says
i had not heard this great news from DD! game changer.
karleen says
ok…if DD can convert to almond milk, SO SHOULD STARBUCKS! Ugh, we don’t have DD on west coast yet, and starbucks should get with the times! just sayin…
Jessica says
I used to love the DG Light Blue scent too :)
Random, but I just bought a bunch of hand soaps from Bath & Body Works and I swear the “Crisp Morning Air” one smells exactly like DG Light Blue!
Happy Friday!
Courtney says
Oooooo, get out. Really?!? Totally need to hunt that down!!
Stacey M. says
I too have been considering buying myself a pair of TOMS shoes for a while now … I really do like the look of the flats they have now, and I also like the crochet look ones. If you do end up buying a pair, please share! I would love to know what you purchased, how you like them, etc.
Looking forward to your new pumpkin recipe … I’m sooooo ready to start baking with pumpkin again once it cools down. It’s supposed to reach 90+ degrees in Upstate NY today … but I think I’m OK with that for now because who knows how many nice days we have left this year.
I’ve checked out a few DIY projects on that Shanty2Chic website, but now I’m thinking I need to go explore it a little more. Those ideas you posted are really nice. I’m sure you’ll be able to give at least one of them a go … it would look great in your house!
Have a great weekend Courtney! :)
Courtney says
Thanks, you too Stacey! :-D
Erika says
I have KP too! It used to bother me so much growing up – not sure if it is less now or I don’t care anymore. It looks better when i’m tan…also have gone to the dermo and there is nothing they can do about it.
Courtney says
I totally agree that a tan helps, haha. If only I could have one all year-round ;)
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Someone is ready for fall… ;) I love it! It just needs to get a little cooler around here, and then I think I’ll get in the spirit a little more. I’m already sad we’re missing out on fall in Utah this year, so I’m trying not think about it too much.
Love what you’re eyeing for a DIY project! I’ve been thinking about doing a shelf with framed photos on it too. I like that look. We’ve been doing some DIY stuff around here lately, and it’s been so fun. It’s cheaper too (well, some of it).
And YES! You absolutely NEED a pair of Toms. ;) I have a few different pairs, and they’re so comfy and really perfect for fall. There’s so many cute new patterns that I want another pair. I’m trying to restrain myself…
Courtney says
Ok then I am definitely buying a pair! Would you say that they’re pretty true to size?
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
That probably has to be my only complaint about Toms…I find that the sizes kinda vary depending on the pattern/material they’re made out of. I usually wear an 8 in flats and an 8.5 in tennis shoes and boots, and I wear one of those sizes in my Toms too. I have one pair of Toms that are too tight in an 8, but then they stretched out as time went on so I just kept them. The other pair I ordered in a 8.5, and they’re borderline a little big, but they’re a different material than my other pair so I think that’s why. Wow, long comment, but I guess what I’m trying to say, is yeah, order what you probably normally wear in a flat if you want them more snug otherwise order them in a half size larger if you want them a little roomier. You could always exchange them if the size doesn’t work well, of course.
Jamie says
Toms are definitely worth the price. They’re like a little hug for your feet!
Try Amlactin lotion for your arms. I get those bumps too and it’s really helped me. You can get it at Target/Walgreens/Etc. It’s about $20 but it definitely works if you use it everyday.
Courtney says
Oh awesome, thanks for the recommendation!!
Kelly says
Yup Amlactin works for the bumps! Not sure if you have the redness and the bumps (ugh – I do!), but the redness doesn’t go away. Be patient with the lotion.
Courtney says
Ugh, yes…I have both :( But I’ll give this a shot! Thanks again :)
Claire says
I love D&G The One! They have another perfume in that collection called Rose The One, which has a slightly lighter/fresher scent but is otherwise very similar. You should check it out too:)
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
I have KP on my arms too! It usually gets worse in the winter, but the last 2ish years, it seems to have gone away mostly! Yay!
Alaina says
Hey, Courtney! I am a Dermatology PA and have a lot of patients with KP! I’m sure you’ve tried a ton for it and it is very stubborn, however, I typically recommend AmLactin Ultra for my patients. It’s a super thick cream that should be applied twice daily, one of those times being after bathing. Putting a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom at night while sleeping can also help, since this typically stems from dryness. Thus, no exfoliation recommended despite what rumors suggest! Anyway, just figured I’d throw it out there in case you hadn’t tried it! Thanks for being one of my favorite bloggers! :D
Courtney says
Alaina! Thanks so much for the feedback!! So is this the cream you recommend: http://www.amazon.com/AmLactin-Triple-Action-Hydroxy-Hydrating/dp/B007FZR99I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=amlactin+ultra+hydrating+body+cream
And so you’re saying that something like dry brushing is actually not a good idea? Oh goodness, so much info today, haha!
Alaina says
Yes! That’s the correct cream! They have a lot of different forms of the AmLactin but the Ultra is the one I’ve seen the best results with. Also, yes, using a loofah or some other exfoliative device, especially while showering, will actually dry out the skin more. If this is truly KP, then these bumps are not pimples and so putting toners and such on the area is not a good idea. ;) Contact me at any time if you have more questions!
Dana says
I loved this post! (I mean, I love all of your posts, but this one in particular was fun and spot on!) We learned a new medical condition; Got a recipe and a picture of a recipe we are soon to get (which looks pumpkin-y (pumpkin-y?), meaning I’m already like it!); A little DIY action, fashion, and the latest on TV! I feel very well rounded! Haha : )
Thank you for the post! Have a good weekend! : )
Courtney says
Hahaha, and this is a great comment. Thanks Dana, you too! :)
Julianna @ Julianna Bananna says
we just got our first Dunkin out here in LA and i’m soooo stoked to try it! i’ve never had DD (minus coffee beans from the grocery store) so we’ll see if it lives up to the hype.
i’m also obsessed with a billion DIY projects i want to do right now since i just moved into my apartment and want to make it look homey.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Courtney! I am in need of some pumpkin in my life. I just found out that Chobani makes pumpkin yogurt, so I’ll put that on my shopping list. This weekend I’m getting pre-and-post-natal certified to train clients, which I’m quite excited about. Have a good one!
Rebecca says
I have a 1.7oz bottle of The One that I got for a gift, but the scent doesn’t suit me. I only used it a couple times, I think I still even have the box. Let me know if you want it, I’ll sell it for $20 + shipping!
Jennifer says
I have KP too and it is such a pain! I found that Bliss 24 Heaven healing body balm really helps a lot. And it smells great :)
Have a good weekend!
Amanda says
I also have KP and I recently read a good post about it that I of course can’t find at the moment! I got a prescription lotion from my doctor (kindof like Eucerin). Basically he said not to exfoliate too much, part of the issue is due to lack of moisture which is why its worst in the winter, followed by the summer. I’ve heard that coconut oil or even vaseline is good for it, and some people say that cutting gluten or dairy helped. Which I don’t think I’m willing to do! HA!
Morgan says
Hey Courtney-
I have KP and use this stuff from sephora: http://www.sephora.com/kp-duty-body-scrub-P147925. I use the lotion too! It works really well on my arms (that’s where I get it). They might be able to give you a sample at the store and then you can see if it works for you! Hope that helps, good luck!
Koryn @ High Heels & Healthy Alternatives says
Loved this post and ALL things FALL…even though I still miss spring/summer. Haha. I may have to ban myself from that DIY blog (for now) though… I already know I’ll want to take on WAY too many projects all at once, and right now, my current focus is cooking more wholesome, home-made foods for me, hubby and the kiddo. One thing at a time. ;-) Def. gotta hit up DD for a latte or something next time I see one… it’s only right since they finally have almond milk! Yay! Lol
Amber Schumann says
TOMS sale on Zulily starts next week! The perfect opportunity to get them since they are on uuuber sale. And don’t forget to get a pair for the munchkin too :)
Angelyn @ Everyday Desserts says
yes, you need TOMs! they’re the best!
Nicole says
What’s worked best for my KP is daily doses of vitamin B and Omegas. I noticed a huge difference in less than a month. I also exfoliate every time I shower and make sure to lotion up. A great lotion for it is Amlactin. You can get it over the counter and there’s also a prescription strength.
Heather @fitncookies says
I just started Mistresses last week and I’m done with season 1! I didn’t know it was a summer show. I was rushing to get through so I could see this season but I guess I have a whole year now, darn.
ellie | fit for the soul says
Uh-ohhhh beware of that DIY bug, it’s highly dangerous and contagious! :P That third wall (the vintage one) is really cute!!! And I can’t wait to see what that dessert you made is all about. Looks so fluffy and moist…
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Go for the Toms! I love mine. I think it is so cool they will have almond milk! I am really surprised they beat out Starbucks on that one. Have a good weekend!
carrie says
Mistresses season finale was soooo good!
My Starbucks has coconut milk so maybe almond isn’t too far behind.
Hillary says
Those Toms are SUPER cute!!
Fiona says
Oh geez, this post really sings to me!!! I’m so bummed Mistresses is over but I am loving that the Networks finally decided to put good tv on through the summer instead of making us wait 3 months for new seasons to start! Can’t WAIT until Nashville starts-obsessed!
And your DIY projects! Trust me it is worth it to try! We just did a wall mural with our wedding pictures on this randomly large wall that just didn’t ‘fit’ any normal pictures in our living room and at first my husband was NOT into the idea but once they were all up it looks amazing and is a great way to show some awesome photos ! Do it, you’ll never look back!
I’m so looking into that blog, luckily my husband loves DIY projects (I supervise) and I bet I can convince him to make a few of the things on there ;)
Hope you have an awesome weekend! It’s rainy here, so catching up on my guilty pleasure-Bachelor of Paradise..
Sorry for the long post! Have a good one!
Jennifer says
Hi Courtney, I am sooo excited that my mom won the photo contest, thank you so much for the opportunity.
But I did want to talk about KP, which I have too on my arms, for years…bummer I know but when I worked at the spa I finally was able to get it under control. The product is Glytone and they have a KP kit, it’s amazing!!! Comes with a wash and a lotion and both have Glycolic acid. I use it just twice a week. Plus I did microdermabrasion on my arms which also seems to help.
Hope this helps, have a great weekend!!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
I definitely need to see if my Dunkin’ offers almond milk! PS – I tried their pumpkin pie donut yesterday and it was delicious!
Leigha @ The Yooper Girl says
Definitely get TOMS! I have 3 pairs and they’re SO comfy. The sizes can be a little weird though.. I’ve found going a half size smaller works for me. BRING ON THE PUMPKIN!
Emily Ann DeMarco says
Crazy question. Is that your diaper bag on the hook in one of the pictures?? I have had such a hard time looking for a cute one. I must know where you got it from if so. Btw, love following your blog!! Especially through pregnancy.
Courtney says
Hey Emily! Haha, that’s actually not my house (or bag) – it’s a picture that I pinned on Pinterest ;)
Thanks for reading along!
Kristen @ Vitamin K Girl says
I was the same way about Toms! I was so not into them and then one day I just had to have them, and now I completely adore them. Also, Whole Foods just got Toms coffee and it is DELICIOUS, plus each purchase helps support clean water projects around the world.
Shannon says
Those Bath and Body works candles are amazing! I want them all.
Kari F says
I am obsessed with TOMS right now too! I don’t have a pair but I saw the cutest charcoal metallic pair on a friend of mine and now I WANT THEM!
Lauren @ LaMaLu says
SO excited about the almond milk! That’s my fave!
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen says
I can’t believe Dunkin has almond milk!?!?! Seriously….my day has been made :)
Kristen says
Not sure if someone posted this already – but Zulily is having a big toms sale on Monday & Tuesday! I got every pair of Tom’s I have at least 50% off from them!
Kristin M says
So glad to know I am not alone with my crazy KP skin condition! I have had it forever and have tried everything….even prescription strength lotion that was nasty and expensive. I’ve noticed that my probiotic has been helping a LOT!! It’s getting much much better.
Thanks for a great post with all things Fall as well….wish we got an actual Fall here in Texas.
Hayley says
Sounds like you need to find a new dermatologist! Mine prescribed me Desonide Lotion .05% for KP and it has worked perfectly.
Elizabeth says
I have KP as well! I use a scrub in the shower of equal parts coconut oil, white sugar, and honey on it! Good luck!
