Jay and I actually didn’t have any plans of going out any evenings this weekend. Our days were full of a bunch of different activities like birthday parties and going through our taxes, to name a couple, so figured we’d keep our evenings low key.
But then there ended up being a last minute organizing amongst our group of friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays, so we were able to snag my MIL as a sitter, and we were off!
Our first stop actually landed us back at City Beer Hall, which we were just at a couple of weeks ago, but we love it so I was excited. Jay and I got there a little before everyone else so we headed to the bar to get a couple of drinks.
As everyone started to arrive, we continued to hang out at the bar until our table was ready, and also made sure to grab a couple of the free pizzas. Duh.
One of the birthdays we were celebrating was Andrea (top left, but most of you probably know that by now, whose birthday is later this week), and the other was Erica’s husband, Steve. Always gotta love a good excuse to celebrate birthdays!
The only thing missing was the delicious dessert we had to celebrate her birthday a couple of years ago…that thing was GOOD. And I also can’t believe that was two years ago.
For my dinner, I ended up ordering the same thing I got the last time we went because it was that impressive.
Hoorayyy for great friends!
Once we were done with dinner, we all decided to keep the fun going and headed down to Stout for the live band that was playing.
It had been years since I’d been there, but they had a great band playing, so we enjoyed listening to them for a bit (while simultaneously getting bumped every 30 seconds by people walking by…I’m so old. And totally over the bar scene, apparently).
But right before we were getting ready to leave and the band was on a break, we heard them play our favorite song from our Mexico trip(s) and it totally made up for it. AND it made me miss Mexico in a seriously bad way. Taaaaake meee baaaack!
I got pretty lazy on the picture taking for the remainder of the weekend, and I also got pretty lazy on the food prep front, which I’m positive I’m going to regret once the work week starts. But it was just one of those weekends, ya know?
I did, however, snap a couple quick pics while we were at my friend Heather’s son’s 1st birthday party. Mostly because there was blue cake and it was delicious.
Lucas also had fun doing his craft and playing with the gazillion toy cars they had.
But other than that, that’s all I’ve got for ya from this weekend!
We’ve got somewhat of a busy week ahead, so here’s hoping I’ll still get some time to pop in and say hello.
Have a great week, my friends! xoxo

Nothing like a night out with friends! I love going out and dancing- it’s been a while since I obstained from rocking the preggo belly on the dance floor and newborns don’t really allow much time for that. But hopefully soon!

That cake is an incredible colour! I can only imagine what ones mouth would look like after eating that! :)

That cake looks amazing! It is definitely a shock when you realize you’re over the whole bar scene thing. I’m like, “am I really that old?”. I noticed that recently at a few concerts that are standing room only – I prefer the 21+ area that overlooks the general floor now instead of being as close as possible to the band.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cake so blue! Funky! :)

How fun! I’m so glad you guys got to enjoy an unexpected night out with friends! Sometimes those are the best ones. <3 Haha, don't worry… I feel old and way over the bar scene too these days. I say you and I forget it and catch up over wine and apps instead ;)

I’m not a huge meat person, but that quinoa and lentil burger sounds fantastic! Not to mention the melty cheese on top…

Fun! I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday this weekend, but sadly I had to leave the hubby at home to watch Ethan. I’m glad he didn’t mind, but it would have been more fun to have him there.

That sounds like such a fun night out with friends! Always so appreciated once in awhile as a parent ;)
We had a gender reveal party this weekend with family & it was such a blast!

I’ve seen a lot of little kids with blue mouths after eating cake with blue icing – I can only imagine after such a blue cake! But it looks really fantastic. And your burger looks great! Veggie burgers can be hit or miss, but that one sounds pretty excellent. Glad it was a good weekend!

You are SO lucky to have family nearby! We live 1.5-2 hours from our families, and we never, ever go out! We had a (pricey!) babysitter for a while, but she was super rude and got pregnant and stopped babysitting. I guess we only have 15 years or so until Harlow can stay home alone… lol.

I am way over the bar scene – everything happens so late! Lol. But sometimes you just have to roll with it. Here’s to a great week!

i still have to check out City Beer Hall sometime soon, as another friend from Albany posted a pic of him having brunch/mimosas there this past wknd! you should check out the Speakeasy below — i went a little over a year ago (first date with the boyfriend, actually!) and it was super cute. drinks are great — reminds me of a speakeasy you’d find in NYC.
