Today we’re talking spring fashion trends!
I swear, the temps hit 40 degrees earlier this week, and all of a sudden, spring fever has hit. Hard. Granted, I was ready for spring like, four months ago, but that’s another thing.
I’ve seen a lot of stuff floating around lately about all of the big “trends” that are said to be happening this spring in the world of fashion and I’ve gotta admit…there is some seriously CUTE stuff! Here’s a look at 5 of my favorite spring fashion trends…
Shirtdresses
First and foremost, it’s important to note that I am very much a proponent of making sure that the shirtdress is worn properly… i.e., if you’re sporting a shorter shirtdress, toss on a pair of leggings. Most shirtdresses that I’ve tried on are a bit on the shorter side, so if I wanted to make them work for work, then they’re not going to be worn solo. Feel me?
I love this shirtdress from Target for its simplicity.
You could do SO much with this, and style it so many different ways by playing with accessories, layers. and shoes. Things like a scarf, jewelry, an open cardigan or denim jacket, sandals, or booties could bring this dress in a ton of different directions. Versatility is always an awesome thing.
Some other adorable shirtdresses in different styles?
- Levi’s Women’s Denim Shirt Dress
- Maison Jules Long-Sleeve Dot Print Shirtdress
- Utility Twill Shirtdress
- Ace Delivery Print Shirtdress
- Old Navy has some great shirtdresses available, too!
Yellow
After an exceptionally long, dark, and downright frigid winter, I am really looking forward to brightening up my wardrobe. This season, “they’re” saying that yellow is THE color, and that’s a-okay by me. Usually, I’d prefer to dress up an outfit with some fun pops of yellow. Maybe it’s a hot pair of pumps, or a fun bag, or even a bright skirt that’s muted with a neutral top and shoes. Either way, I’m diggin’ the yellow.
Some favorites:
- Kate Spade New York Secret Garden Stud Earrings
- Topshop ‘Milo’ Split Back Sleeveless Top Topshop
- Longchamp ‘Mini Le Pliage’ Handbag Longchamp
- Green Thumb Neon Yellow Maxi Dress Lush
- BCBGeneration ‘Treasure’ Pointy Toe Pump
- Alfani Classic Pencil Skirt Alfani
Flats, Slides, and Sneakers
Now this is one trend that I can absolutely, 100% get on board with! Comfort is where it’s at, so knowing that the “in” style this spring doesn’t have to mean 4-5 inch wedges (not that they’re not adorable, but you won’t ever find me wearing them!) is, well…comforting.
- Mad Love Lydia Loafers via Target (in LOVE with the white lace and black and white ones!)
- Bucketfeet offers some really cute sneakers (you may remember the pair I purchased, and am dying to wear this spring!)
- Old Navy has some super cute sneakers and sandals right now
- Ida Footbed Sandals via Target
- Shae Ballet Flat via Target (comes in 6 different colors, including some really pretty spring colors, too)
All White
File this one under the category of “I love it but would never dare DO it.” Between having a toddler and being continuously told “you can dress her up, but ya can’t take her out,” thanks to my incessant spilling, I think it’s safe to say that this is one trend I’m likely going to avoid. But that doesn’t mean I still don’t love the look! I say, if you can rock it, DO it!
Some cute looks I love:
Bold Florals
Honestly, I love a good floral print any time of year, but there’s something about wearing it in spring that makes it that much more…festive? Some of my favorite floral prints come paired with a dark backdrop, like navy blue. I feel like it gives it a more sophisticated, polished look. I don’t know, maybe I’m full of it. But here are a few more favorites:
- Rose Print Peplum Tank via Express
- Elbow Sleeve Floral Blouse via Target
- Bea Bold Floral Print Box Pleat Skater Skirt
- Steph Floral Midi Bodycon Dress
- Floral Shift Dress via Old Navy
- Floral Button Front Shirt via Old Navy
So how about you guys? Are you on board with any of the spring fashion trends above? Any other ones you’re looking forward to this spring?

I’ve been loving aallll things white lately, too! I lean much more toward a simple, sleek style, so I think the cleanliness of the all white look really draws me in. Being tall, I also love flats! A trend I’ve been loving is the long, flow-y shirts. So flattering and so comfy!
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
I am loving all of the spring fashion too, especially the white trend! Although I’m with you on the white… with a baby on the way this May, I’m not sure that would be the best fashion choice for me at this point ;)

im a big fan of the white look and like to wear that all summer long. Yellow pops are so fun in the spring, the scream “we are over the winter!” This year I’m looking to add some cute florals and skirts since I was preggo last summer and couldn’t shop much.
Linz @ Itz Linz says

I love yellow so much!! I’ve always been a huge fan of the color because it is just so bright and cheery. I have a great yellow dress that I can’t wait to wear!

Love the floral patterned tops and the all white look, but like you, I’d be petrified to wear all white! I just *know* I’d spill something on myself, or sit in something gross before the day was over. I do also like the shirt-dress look … not sure if I could pull it off or not, but I might just have to give it a try.
I am sooooo looking forward to wearing spring fashions again. I’ve been over this cold and snowy winter for about a month now, and with the 40+ degree temps this week, it almost feels like spring. Love it! Before you know it, we’ll be cruisin’ around in flip-flops again!

The Floral thing just reminds me of that part of “The Devil Wears Prada” where Meryl Streep is talking about the Spring Line, and someone suggests florals. “Florals? How original. Come up with that yourself?”
She’s terrible, but that scene cracks me up, because of course!
I can’t wait to break out my Spring clothes, and see what’s what (I have a smaller closet than I used to, so now I’ve split my clothes into fall/winter-spring/summer to make things manageable).
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Can’t say I am on board with yellow yet, but I LOVE all white! I had the hardest time finding white pants last summer though. All of them were so see-through. I hope I can get some this summer.
tiff @ love, sweat, & beers says
Spring spring spring! I’m so ready. I like the yellow too, probably because it matches the only thing in my yard that’s blooming – daffodils! Those pumps are gorgeous, and I like the Target dress too. I got one in the fall that’s a 3/4-sleeve gray t-shirt dress. Love it with a scarf!

I’m gonna be honest here… ANY fashion that doesn’t involve a parka, hat, mittens, bulky sweaters… I’m going to be on board with. I’m SO over winter in MI.
Autumn (@Beautifully Gray) says
I can’t wait to start dressing for spring! think I’m most excited to trade in my big chunky winter scarves for light, printed ones. Hopefully warm weather comes soon!
Mabel @ Ma Bella Vita says
I love all these outfits! So stylish and they look super comfortable (minus the heels maybe, Im more of a flats girl). White & yellow are such spring colors!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
I love these looks! I can’t wait for dresses and floral skirts, and I’d love to find a great pair of white pants and flats/slides/sneakers. I totally wish I could pull off yellow because it’s so bright and happy, but my fair skin and blonde hair totally work against me there ;)

i dig the all white look for Summer, especially for nights out in the city — white can definitely be glam, esp with the right shoes and jewelry. nice alternative to all the black we usually see, esp in the cold months. i’m a fan of yellow if it’s incorporated into the outfit well (and if it goes with your skin tone — can be hard to wear! i steered shy of it til my mid-20s actually, bc i thought i couldn’t wear it, and then i read an article in a fashion mag saying yellow looked best on girls with dark hair and light eyes and suddenly had the confidence to wear it — talk about believing what you read??) — the yellow pumps are cute. i always love BCBG. and yes to big florals. yes, yes, yes.

Yay for yellow and white! Yellow is (one of…besides orange) favorite color! But white is so beautiful and CLEAN!
Jessica @ Prayers and Apples says
Yay! I’m so obsessed with white!! :) But I’m like you, I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to do allllll white lol
Julia @ LordStillLovesMe says
I think spring may be my favorite time for fashion! I am all about florals and dress; so much so that I wear them year around. Spring (and summer) are the only times that it is actually acceptable though, so I eagerly go full force!
I always see shirt dresses on other girls at my school, but I cannot see them working on me for whatever reason! However, I agree with you on the yellow! I love yellow on everything! It’s a great way to spice up an otherwise neutral outfit. Plus it is such a joyous color.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I’m totally digging the floral prints too. I just bought a top from Old Navy last week that has a really pretty floral print and just screams spring – love it! I do love the flats and slip-ons because I’m all about practicality, but I can’t really get behind the Birkenstock looking shoes. Just not my thing I guess. I’m sure they’re super comfy, but I don’t love the look of them. And yes to white! Like you, wearing all white is totally unpractical at this phase of my life (or probably any phase of my life with how clumsy I can be at times), but I do love the look. White skinnies is about as far as I go, and even then, I almost always manage to get them dirty or spill something on them.
Nikki says
I’m loving the white and the bold floral prints. I never thought I would but they all look so fun!! It’s been in the 60’s in NC this week, hopefully it’ll stay this way!!
Katie says
I’m with you on the florals on a dark background. I especially love a bigger print, bright floral on navy. So pretty. I love the all white look too…very chic…but at the same time not very “me.” Now all we need is the full on Spring weather!!
