Coming off of a holiday weekend is always just a little bit tougher, if you ask me. But hey, here we are, so we might as well make the most if it, right?
So did you all have a fabulous holiday weekend? We didn’t do all that much in terms of being festive (I was reminded of this as we were out to dinner and noticed all of the kids around wearing cute little red, white, and blue outfits…which we were not…oops), but we did have some fun! And because it’s a little bit later as I’m getting to typing this, I’m going to keep things simple with one sentence per picture.
He loved the diving board enough to bounce on, but isn’t quite ready to jump off of it yet…which is fiiiiine by me.
Not exactly the way I planned to start off my Friday morning…thank goodness Jay was in a car just behind me AND for the nice state trooper who stopped by to help us change the tire.
We got to check out the house on Friday and they’re going to start painting this week…eeeek!
Made Kristen’s sangria and it was absolutely as good as she says.
Fresh bagels with peanut butter and bananas is never a bad way to start off a day.
Little poppers fireworks (I’m sure they have a formal name…which I’m not sure of) are apparently a riot to toddlers.
We always order a meal for Lucas that we’ll like too, since it’s a 50/50 shot on whether or not he’ll ever eat it…we ate about half of it.
We had a craving for Dinosaur BBQ and it tasted awesome, but man it just did not settle well. Blech.
Running around on the playground is a great way to blow off steam after we made him sit out at dinner with us.
I’m still waiting for the family selfie (is that an oxymoron?) where Lucas actually decides to smile.
I love Lucas’s face in this picture, but I’m jealous of how tan Jay looks in it too.
Does swinging on swings ever get old? I don’t think it does.
Mannnn, I have missed this lady…Sarah and I have a long overdue dinner date on the agenda hopefully soon!
Strawberry beer sounds super interesting/iffy, but it tastes quite delicious.
I conveniently forgot my bathing suit at home so dad had to go in the lake with Lucas.
The boys in Saratoga Lake! Oh, and I think Lucas forgot how to use his neck with that life vest on.
First ride on the jet ski and he loved it!
One of my favorite things about holiday weekends? BBQ food, of course!
I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m one of the only posts you read today that actually doesn’t have a picture of fireworks, but to be honest, they’re just not my thing. We had a HUGE display of them a couple of houses down, so we watched out of the corner of our eye while we “festively” watched a couple episodes of House of Cards. Hey, what can I say? I choose HOC over fireworks! But even without the fireworks, it was a really nice weekend with lots of fun spent with family.
Hope you all had a great weekend, too!
Looks like you guys had a great weekend! You are not alone on the fireworks!! We spent a low-key night at home watching OITNB, and it was so nice not to battle traffic, crowds, etc. lol I figure we’ll do that once we have little ones running around. Have a great day.
there is nothing that says Fourth of July like BBQ and time in the water. We missed the fireworks since our little guy goes down early. But HOC is a great alternative!
We did have a fun weekend and we are always pretty festive with it. But hey your weekend looked great, as well!
If you don’t see fireworks, is it really the Fourth of July? I’m just kidding! It sounds like you had a great holiday weekend. The picture of Lucas in his life vest is too funny now that you pointed out the neck thing.
I can’t believe how quickly your house is coming together! I feel like it was just yesterday that you were posting photos of an empty lot!
Swinging on swings absolutely never gets old! And I’m really not a fireworks person, either. I finished up Orange is the New Black instead. I’m pretty content with that :)
Looks like you had a lot of yummy food this weekend too! Your american flag cookie cake was a huge hit. No one could stop eating it. Definitely need a little sugar detox this week :)
I remember seeing the progress being made on our house, which is just a track house. It was so exciting. I can’t imagine how much more exciting it must be to see something built that you helped design!
I’m confused, I clicked on the link to Kristen’s Sangria (hoping for a recipe — that looks yummy), and it linked back to your post from July 3rd. Did I miss the recipe link in that post?
Gahhh, you’re right! Totally did the wrong link…I linked to it in this post! https://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/2015/07/02/the-one-thing-you-need-to-make-this-4th-of-july/ Thanks for heads up, just made the change :)
Thanks! I’ve been sangria crazy this summer!
Sounds liken an awesome holiday weekend! Lucas is too cute in those life vest pictures!
Looks like you had a great weekend!
I love seeing southern beer represented in NY. :-) The strawberry is too sweet for me, but I love pretty much every other Abita beer.
Looks like a wonderful fourth!! I should have hit up the pool this weekend, I’m regretting my laziness! And that lake water looks so nice!!
Mason was about 2 when he started to say “cheese” and give a fake smile when I asked for a selfie. Now he is getting better, but sometimes he still gives me that cheesy smile when I go for a photo lol
Oh girl, I need some sangria in my life! haha Maybe next summer. :)
I haven’t quite gotten Ethan to “smile” in pictures yet, but sometimes I tell him to “show me your teeth.” Sometimes it’s cute, and sometimes he just looks angry. Worth a shot!
A sentence per pic can be difficult when a picture is ‘worth a thousand words’ ;). Also, swinging will never get old… it is a hobby I share with toddlers and elderly people!
That beer sounds delicious and SO perfect for Summertime!
Aw, it looks like you guys had a great weekend… well, minus the flat tire. Family selfie oxymoron… hahah! I love it :)
Low key holidays with families sometimes are the best! HOC new season does not come soon enough….
I love fireworks, but I know not everyone shares that sentiment. Lots of pool time is always a great way to go!
We enjoyed the afternoon at the pool too! It was my daughter’s first 4th of July, and I really hoped to get her out to see the fireworks, but decided that it wasn’t worth her being tired/cranky on the 5th because it was her 1st birthday! We did get festive with our red, white and blue outfits though.
Worst fear with driving = flat tires. I had one the first year I started driving. In the dark. A police man came over to help me and ended up breaking off the tire iron with his foot (he was jumping on it to try and loosen the lug nuts). Omg, I was like… WHAT NOW MAN!?
Anyway, still getting used to the whole State Trooper thing, and then local police here! I still don’t officially know what a trooper is. Are they higher up than city police? Lol :/
