Well, I think it’s safe to say that our day to day lives over here have taken quite the turn since I last checked in here on the blog, huh?
We went from being excited about longer days and warmer weather, to very quickly being confined to our home for who knows how long.
Our (mine & Jay’s – ICYMI, we work together now) office building officially closed over the weekend and we’ve been told that we should anticipate being home for quite a while. We are SO incredibly fortunate to be able to continue to work from home in the roles that we’re in, and I’ve been thinking so much about those who are in different and more difficult situations.
As of right now, Lucas’s school is closed for the next 2 weeks and Alex is also home with us as well. There are many rumblings from others in our area who are assuming that the schools will wind up closing longer than just 2 weeks, but I guess all we can do it play it by ear. Nobody really knows what the heck is going on anyway, right?
Sooo, it looks like we’ll be kickin’ it by ourselves as our little family of four over here for the unforeseeable future. And while there’s a big (huge) part of me that tends to keep focusing on the inconveniences, and the fear, and the worry, and the challenges ahead, I’m really trying SO hard to focus on the silver linings.
Like having a little extra time to cook myself a legit breakfast.
And being able to hopefully work a little bit more with Alex on his letters, because if I’m being 100% honest…we definitely do not spend the kind of time with him on his letters & numbers the way we used to with Lucas. #secondkidprobs
And, sure, I’m probably going to want to pull my hair out at least once a day while trying to get my job done AND tend to two children, helping them get schoolwork done and essentially be their teacher (I suppose that old teaching career is going to come in handy now!).
But these are the days that I’m also always reminding myself to not wish away, because they’re the ones that are going by in the blink of an eye. So yeah, it’ll be tough. I’ll be stretched thin (hell, we’re ALL going to be stretched thin…). But we’re getting an opportunity to really have some quality moments and togetherness, and THAT is something I’m okay with.
Even if it means I need to pour an extra cup of coffee in the morning or enjoy a few extra glasses of wine in the evenings. Because, I can assure you, I most definitely made sure to have plenty of both on hand!
I have no idea what our days are going to look like, but I do know that Lucas really does thrive on a schedule (and making his own) so I’m honestly not all that worried about his day to day. This was a schedule he made for himself a couple of weeks ago when he was home not feeling well. <3
With a little combination of the school work that has already come home, as much outdoor play as possible, and whatever screens are necessary to help us get through our work days, I’m good with it.
Alex is not quite as into those schedules just yet, and is more content with hopping on mom’s lap during a Zoom meeting, so ya know…we’ll just have to roll with that and see how it goes.
So for these next few weeks, I really have no idea when I’ll be popping in on here. Maybe nothing will change. Maybe it’ll be less frequent, maybe not. I will likely be sharing a little bit more over on Instagram though, just because it’s quick and fun. So if you’re not already following me over there, feel free to! : )
I know every single one of you reading this right now is also likely being affected in one way, shape, or form, so we’re all in this together. And my heart goes out to all of those who have been more directly impacted by the virus itself, or its aftereffects.
Stay safe, stay home (when you can), and be kind. <3

I giggled at the letters and #secondkidprobs. I have 3 and we are living proof that if you slack on #2 and #3, it WILL balance out. Ours are just as smart as the first despite the fact that we didn’t put quite the amount of effort in with them. I mean, we put effort in, it just changes….

Lucas’ schedule is adorable!

Lucas’ schedule is awesome. I used to make schedules for long 8 hour car rides, though I found I never really stuck to them well, but I am definitely a schedule maker and planner. Unfortunately I don’t have the ability to work from home and it’s our fiscal year end so we will see what happens but so far our office is open. I can’t imagine the struggle of trying to find a sitter for kids right now because the schools in my area closed for a month, until April 13!! Just trying my best to stay safe and healthy and mostly go to work and home which isn’t too out of the ordinary during the week for me anyway.

Good luck with everything. You are lucky to be able to work from home.
I am an independent contractor, so right now I can’t work. And I don’t get paid.
It’s really scary

Wishing everyone well! My husband works in a warehouse so they are still working, but don’t have to worry about being in contact with the general public. I am a stay at home mom, so that was an easy transition for us with Claire’s school being out for the next couple weeks. I hope you all stay safe and healthy!!!

Oh my god, Lucas’ schedule. I wish I had his discipline.
