Three cheers for a great weekend!
The weather this weekend wasn’t all that great, and we were left with a good majority of our time inside OR under the gazebo outside, since getting fresh air is always a plus.
After a somewhat lazy day at home on Saturday, Jay and I were lucky enough to enjoy a date night out on Saturday night!
Goodness gracious, I really need to relocate this mirror if I’m going to keep taking these outfit pics…
We actually left the house not totally sure of our plans for the evening, but we eventually found ourselves back at Druthers.
It’s no secret that we kinda sorta love it there, and when going back and forth between trying somewhere new or sticking with something tried and true (oh, I’m such a poet), we wound up with the latter. I mean, the beer is just too good (The Dare is my favorite – it’s a sour beer and THE best!).
Side note, we joked that it looked like there was a dog walking around the rim of my beer here…anyone else?
Of course, we can’t step foot inside Duthers without ordering their beer cheese pretzels.
And then to add a little balance, I rounded out the meal with some greens. They’ve actually changed the menu since we were last there, so I went with their Strawberry Fields Salad (+ grilled chicken) and it was incredible.
Seriously, the marinated strawberries? Out. of. this. world.
After dinner, we made our way over to the mall because our original plan was to go and see a movie (Deadpool 2). We had a little time to spare, so we walked around a bit and actually stopped into Express. I seriously swear about 75% of my wardrobe used to be from Express back in the day.
I tried on a few tops but ultimately didn’t love anything enough to purchase (although I did really like that top above). Jay, on the other hand, snagged a couple of t-shirts and some sunglasses.
By the time we were done in Express, we both realized we were kind of tired and neither of us would likely (sadly) not make it through the movie without falling asleep.
Sooo, we nixed plans for the movies and did the next best thing.
Ice creeeeeeam from Cold Stone Creamery.
I honestly don’t remember the last time I was there…I’m actually thinking it had to be pre-blogging days (so 8+ years?!). But this was incredible. Sweet cream ice cream, caramel, hot fudge, cookie dough, and chocolate chips.
I could certainly eat that everyday!
Our Sunday got off to a fun start, with a trip out to pick some strawberries with some neighbor friends.
Fun fact: Alex is actually the youngest one in that pic above, by a good 5 months. : )
We headed down to our favorite apple orchard, Samascott, and they had SO many strawberries ready for picking. We could have been there all day!
The weather started out perfect for picking, too; not too hot and not overly sunny, but by the time we were ready to leave, the humidity really started creeping in and it was quite sticky!
Nonetheless, we managed to leave with all sorts of fresh, delicious strawberries AND sugar snap peas.
The rest of the day was pretty quiet, thanks to more rain creeping in for most of the afternoon. I read a little more of my book (3 more chapters left, SO good!) and even felt myself dozing off a bit on the couch, which is pretty rare that I even get that opportunity.
Thankfully, the rain let up at least for a little while, so we were able to get two antsy boys outside to run off some energy and play in the yard.
And the new sandbox!
Now it’s back to the grind once again. : )
Hope everyone has an awesome week ahead, and I need to wish a very very special and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mama today!! Hope you have a great day, mom! <3

Hi Courtney,
Long time reader, first time poster. I think its awesome that you guys hang out with your neighbors so much! Just a friendly reminder not to exclude those without kids! My husband and I don’t have kids and we get left out of the circle a lot. Kind of a bummer!
Courtney says
Hey Ashley! Aww man, that IS a total bummer, I’m sorry you get left out. Not cool! We love hanging with everyone, kids or no kids :)
