Well, I’m officially another year older since we last chatted!
Last Thursday was my birthday, and while it didn’t entail anything elaborate or spectacular, it really was a great, great day.
I started the day off nice and early with a 5am workout at Anatomie with Tal. It was a leg day, and woah baby, was it a whopper.
But it most definitely helped set the tone for a great day, and I finished feeling strong and happy. Those workout endorphins, man. They’re just the best.
After arriving back home and getting ready for the day, I soon after discovered a little treat waiting on my front porch from my neighbor, Ashley.
My good friends just get me. <3
Then the boys and I hung out for a bit in the morning until it was time for Lucas to get on the bus for school, and then drive Alex over to preschool before heading to work.
From there it was basically just a regular work day, although I did have to run my first meeting for a new project I’m working on,which was pretty exciting. And I think all went fairly well, so I’m calling it a success.
I also wound up getting some flowers delivered to me at work, which actually came from one of my coworkers! Aren’t they beautiful??
Oh, and in case you’re wondering which coworker it was that sent them to me…that’d be this guy.
Yep, Jay and I officially work together now. Crazy, right?! The new job I had mentioned a couple of times before was actually for the same office I work at, and it’s been pretty cool/weird seeing him there everyday. I’m excited for him and all that’s to come!
So since he was right there in the office, I made him bring me out for a birthday lunch.
Mmmmmm. The cobb salad from Jimmy Casey’s is seriously one of my absolute favorites. SO good!!
And then I arrived back to the office, only to be greeted with more birthday treats, courtesy of my coworker/friend, Kaila.
Are you sensing a theme here at all yet? ; )
Once my workday was over, I made my way back home to see and spend time with the boys.
It’s official…the boys are just too big for me to hold them now for my annual birthday photo I make them take with me!
And then after Jay got home (we work different hours and do not commute together!), we toasted with some champagne…
And he made us a totally delicious steak and fettuccine dinner.
As if all of that wasn’t enough good stuff for the day, Jay also surprised me with my absolute favorite cake in the whole world…
The Oreo Cream Cake from The Cookie Factory (yes, same place as all of the cookies you saw above) is just a dream. And I honestly wasn’t expecting it, because I had told Jay not to worry about getting it, since I didn’t want the whole thing in the house to keep picking at. But honestly, I’m definitely not mad he still got it anyway.
It really was just a great, simple day, spent with my favorite boys in the world.
Sooo, here’s to being another year older!

Great post! Happy Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day! This post brought a smile to my face and is a great way to start the day. That’s great news and so exciting that your husband is now working in the same company and location! Also, that cake looks incredible!

Where is your sweater in these photos from? I love it!

Thanks! It’s from Old Navy!!

How fun that you work together but separate, I am assuming you work a part-time schedule (but could be wrong) with the hours. I am lucky in that I get to work from home which makes my job a little more flexible for drop offs and pick-ups. Happy belated birthday. Mine was last Tuesday :)
Courtney says
Aww, happy belated birthday, Blair!!

Looks like a wonderful birthday! Could you please share how you motivate yourself to get to a 5am workout? What time do you go to bed, do you eat beforehand, etc….I’d love to start but don’t know how!

I’d also love details on this! Waking up early is such a struggle :/
Courtney says
Thank you, Steph!!! Perhaps I’ll have to put together a blog post for the early workouts?! :)
Steph says
Yes, would love that!! :)

Happy Birthday!! If the cookie factory was near me, I would definitely be requesting birthday treats from there. I usually make a cookie cake for myself for my birthday.
Courtney says

Glad you had a great day and congrats to Jay on the new job!
Courtney says
They’re definitely a local company, although I believe they’ve started selling in some nearby states? Unfortunately, probably not in Canada…but maybe, eventually?! :) Thanks for the birthday wishes, Pam!

I was laughing about all the cookie factory cookies, then you end the day with the cake – they love you too, I’d say.
