Well, I didn’t have my usual photographer home last night to take my photo, so this week we have a snazzy iPhone pic.
Hey, it works…we can definitely still see the bump. Just don’t mind the messy bed and the window that’s currently missing trim and curtains. ;)
Baby Tooth is just over 35 weeks today and is about the size of a honeydew melon.
Here’s what Baby Tooth has been up to this week:
- Baby Tooth doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and weighs about 5 1/4 pounds.
- His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products.
- Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:
Weight gained: I was up two more pounds at my appointment last week, which is right about what the doctor said – about a pound a week.
Workouts: A little slower this week – I got one session of yoga in last Monday, and last night I also managed to get in a 30-minute workout with one of my prenatal DVD’s. I’m definitely starting to feel a whole lot less energy these days, so I’m not sure how many workouts will be happening from here on out. If I’m feelin’ up for it, then great. If not, I’m not pushing anything.
Symptoms:
- Low back pain, general pain in groin area
- Some light cramps
- Not super hungry most of the time
- Occasional nausea that tends to hit mid-morning and lasts for a few hours
- Constant bathroom breaks
- Easily out of breath
- Overall discomfort a majority of the time
Movement: All the time!
Food Aversions: None.
Food Cravings: Most carbs, fruit pops, and Greek yogurt. But honestly, it’s been pretty normal eating these days.
Sleep: Ughh…this past week included a few pretty awful nights and a few so-so nights. What I would give to have a ginormous, king-size bed that doesn’t have two big craters for where Jay and I sleep so I had room to spread out with my body pillow
Stretch marks? Belly is still stretch mark free! I can’t even believe it.
Miss Anything? All the same stuff as last week.
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: I feel like Baby Tooth may have dropped a bit this past week. He used to wind up in my ribs ALL the time, but lately I notice that there’s definitely some relief in that area…now the discomfort is definitely lower in my groin area. I’m assuming that’s a good sign?!
Belly Button in or out? It’s still in! Funny looking, but in.
Wedding rings on or off? On and fitting fairly well, although I have noticed a few days where my fingers are definitely swollen.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! And feeling so crazy excited, nervous, and anxious.
New Baby Items: Well, I finally found new curtains and blinds for the nursery, if that counts!
The color in this photo is totally off…the iPhone didn’t do a great job on this one.
I found them at Lowe’s and they were exactly what I was looking for – nice and simple.
Looking Forward To: Getting up the rain gutter bookshelves in the nursery, our final ultrasound next week, and hopefully squeezing in a few more date nights over these next few weeks.
I also can’t stop thinking about what my future labor experience is going to be like. I feel like I know SO many people who have given birth over this past year, and all of their stories are totally different. Will I go early? Late? Where will I be when the “real thing” really starts to happen? How long will it last?
The unknown is definitely proving to be exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time. Yikes!

Sounds like you and Baby Tooth are right on track! Excited to follow along for what comes next

The waiting game!! I know it’s hard not to be anxious….BUT, you’ve taken excellent care of yourself throughout this journey, and will have an amazing labor experience- I just know it ;) Excited for you!

My first pregnancy, I was induced at 35 weeks, so when I was pregnant with my 2nd, I had those “first time” labor questions. I made so many trips to my local maternity ward those last few weeks, thinking “this is it!” because I didn’t know what to expect, lol. Luckily, those gals are used to it and were very nice. When we eventually have #3 on the way, I look forward to being able to relax. After 2 basis with almost identical labors, I figure I’ll know what to expect, lol.

This is where I started getting very antsy and a little done with being pregnant. But you look incredible and you’re SOO close now!
Angie @ Pint of Goals says
Hang on there, and careful not to get too set on your due date. I am currently a week and a day overdue, and it’s driving me crazy! I thought I’d have my baby in my arms by now, but I’m trying to be patient.
You look great! It sounds like you’re listening to your body in regards to exercise. I also stopped working out besides walking around week 35.
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
It’s getting so close…you and Jay must be so elated! Yay!!

The curtains and blinds look really pretty, but I have a suggestion for you. My girl and lots of my friends’ babies like blackout blinds and sleep much better in total darkness. We bought the Gro Anywhere Blackout Blind (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blackout-Blind-Gro-Anywhere-Blind-/320603701920) because it has suction cups and you can travel with it. It’s not as permanent as other blackout blinds. It’s made a world of difference in my daughter’s sleep!

Ahh so close!! :) For me, it was such a weird feeling because I had been counting down for the whole pregnancy, and then all of a sudden, I was at 40 weeks, but still no baby! So it was a bit anti-climatic haha. ;) I was finally induced at 41 weeks. But just enjoy these last few weeks as a twosome with your hubby!

I think wondering about going into labor is one of the most exciting parts about pregnancy! It’s a world of unknown. :)
I’m glad your ribs are feeling some relief – however, kicks to the cervix are NO fun. Last night I seriously yelped because Baby A was kicking me quite rhythmically there. She must have flipped from last week because she had been head down.
Ashlee @ A Step in the Right Direction says
I was induced because of high blood pressure (twice, the first time he was not ready I guess). I was wondering if in my next pregnancy if I will know it is “time”. It is normal to start feeling anxious. Just make sure your hospital bag is packed because you never know when your dr will tell you to head to the hospital after an appointment – been there had that happen.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I feel ya on the anxiety of the labor and delivery, but try to just be excited. It’ll be YOUR story, and an amazing one at that. That’s the cool thing about labor and delivery – every story is so unique and different. Enjoy these last few weeks! It’s getting so close! :)

Ahh the painting looks great!!
Getting close pretty lady (:

I can’t believe how close you are! I can only imagine how excited/anxious/thrilled you must feel. Sounds like you’re doing great and staying healthy!

You are getting so close and look so good! I tell this to every pregnant woman I know, but have everything done and prepared in the next week. When my first baby arrived a few days after hitting 36 weeks I was completely not ready, we didn’t even have a changing table yet! With my second the doctor assured me that the first early delivery was very rare and unlikely to happen again. I told myself I was going to be prepared by 37 weeks no matter what! And then my water broke exactly at 36 weeks. He’s 10 weeks old and I’m still working on the nursery :)

So exciting! I can’t believe how fast your pregnancy has gone by, well I mean from my side maybe not from yours;)
Can’t wait to hear more baby posts from you. I can imagine at this point you get anxious, I’m pretty sure everyone experiences that feeling of the unknown, but everyone’s different and I bet your story will be amazing. Just think of the end product – your beautiful baby boy in your arms!

I can’t wait to see how the gutter shelves look in the nursery! It’s such a unique idea! Thank God for Pinterest ;-) I remember my mom telling me she avoided stretch marks by rubbing her belly with some kind of lotion. I forget the specifics but she didn’t get any stretch marks either, so she was really happy!
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
The rain gutter shelves are such a good idea. I’ve seen them floating around on the internet. I’m curious to see how easy they really are.

Courtney, I cannot tell you how much I’ve enjoyed following along with your pregnancy. I’m not married or even thinking of having a baby soon, but I look forward to your weekly updates. So excited for you and Jay! XO

That’s amazing! I can’t believe you’re already at 35 weeks… it feels like you just announced you were pregnant!

You look so cute!! I am excited for you!

I have been wondering the exact same thing about labor/delivery. I have had a handful of friends give birth in the last few months, plus of course heard a million stories from moms…actually most of them have been less than exciting to hear…I can almost say for certain that any of my friends that went in with any sort of plan at all, came out with a completely different story! My strategy: zero expectations for any of it. I’m going in knowledgeable, but not with a game plan, and I am hoping that my mind lets my body take control and do what I know it is supposed to. And the best part for all of us is: IT ENDS!! :)
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
He’s gonna be here before you know it! I can’t wait to see the weeks fly by and meet the little bugger!

This is all sooo exciting! I can’t believe you are almost done! :-)

Your baby bump looks so cute. Can’t believe he’s coming soon. I guess your bag is packed already. You never know. The curtains looks great, wanted to ask about the frame on the wall. What exactly is the wording, First Breath? Too cute.
Sarah @ A Refining Adventure says
I am so impressed by all that you’re able to do so late in your pregnancy! Go girl! The baby’s room looks precious. I know you must be so nervous/anxious, just not knowing fully what to expect. I know I would be. You are going to be a great mama!
