Another couple of weeks, another bumpdate! And, comparing to last week’s pictures, it looks like baby grew a bit?!
Then again, maybe it’s just the birthday cake.
HERE’S WHAT BABY HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- Baby is about 11 inches long and almost 1 pound.
- He’s starting to look like a miniature newborn! His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums.
- His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.
- Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
- He’s sleeping in cycles — about 12 to 14 hours per day.
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Weight gained: I haven’t checked since my last appointment, so I’m not sure. I do have another appointment scheduled for the 10th, so I’m sure I’ll found out then.
Workouts: Pretty good! With Lucas having been sick last week, I didn’t get to as many as I usually do, but I’ve still been loving barre workouts and anything with weights (check out this post for more details if you haven’t already!).
Symptoms: A few this week:
- Some round ligament pain and sciatica pain, but that doesn’t seem to be as bad this week as last.
- I also realized I’m experiencing another similar pain/sensation as before around this time: a weird sensation/pain in my upper stomach which wraps all the way to my back. It’s almost like a super full feeling in my stomach, and my upper back just feels like wicked sore
- Frequent sensations to need to use the bathroom, but not having to go nearly as much as I feel like I do.
- Filling up quickly at meals.
- Itchy belly on and off, which sometimes results in red marks that look like they could mimic stretch marks in weird places. But then they go away, so who knows.
Movement: Yes! They’re starting to become a bit more frequent and obvious, which is so fun. Nothing from the outside yet, though. This is one thing that I’m scared I’ll forget the sensation of long after my preggo days are over…it’s seriously just the. coolest. thing.
Food Aversions: Nada!
Food Cravings: Cake (I’m sure a birthday had something to do with that!), blueberry cake donuts (damn you, Dunkin…), avocados, red meat, and graham crackers are a few that stick out.
Sleep: Not too bad. I usually wake up at least once a night to pee, but other than that, I can still get comfortable pretty easily.
Stretch marks? None (yet?), but I do have the lovely spider veins.
Miss Anything? Yes, I miss wine. Have I mentioned that at all yet? ;) Other than that, I’m doing pretty well.
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: Hmmm…well my birthday was fun, but that’s not really pregnancy related! I also feel like my boobs are huge (compared to what they usually are), which is also always fun while it lasts. We are working on picking out paint colors for Lucas’s room and the nursery, and hoping to have those done in the next couple of weeks, so that’s been exciting. We’ll likely be transitioning the crib and dresser into the baby’s room then, and giving Lucas a big bed and a different dresser. We’ll see how it goes, but my money is still on him sleeping on the floor.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Depends on the day. This past week was tough with Lucas being sick. I honestly felt a bit of “mommy burn out,” which left me feeling just wiped. Lucas needed me, and only wanted me, and it was a constant battle/struggle to do anything other than have him attached to me. Obviously, he wasn’t feeling well so I was there for him and felt terrible…but man that can all take a toll on you! I also go through occasional bouts of sadness, like when I’m out shopping and see some really adorable little girl outfits. That feeling has subsided a lot since finding out we’re having a boy though and, honestly, I get more and more excited by the day to meet him and for Lucas to have a little bro. I can just picture them 2, 3, 4 years from now…ahhh, my heart melts. <3
New Baby Items: Just these PJ’s that I got from Target on Sunday.
Looking Forward To: Our next appointment! At our last ultrasound, the tech couldn’t get all of the images she needed (little guy wasn’t cooperating), so we need to go back on the 10th for a follow up ultrasound. You mean, I need to lay there and watch my little guy on the monitor AGAIN? Aww man, that’s rough… ;)
Question for the Moms:
What are/were some of your favorite things about pregnancy??
Brynn says
I miss the itchy belly and kicks, so sweet! Your bump is so cute and you look gorgeous. Pregnancy looks good on you!
Courtney says
You’re so sweet, thank you Brynn!
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
I feel proud of myself this time around for knowing that round ligament pain is NOT pain in your elbows and knees hahaha.
Courtney says
LOL Colleen :)
Presley @ Run Pretty says
Over half way there!
I had the same back pain this time. Guess we’re just getting old. ;) Hope yours goes away soon!
Jen says
Have you thought about putting a twin mattress on the floor? That might get him off the floor. Also, my son got really excited when we let him pick out his own bed set. Target had a construction one he loves!
Courtney says
We actually did talk about that and may give that a try, too. And funny enough, I just bought the construction set comforter at Target!

Since I’m going through my first pregnancy, I’m enjoying a whole bunch of ‘firsts,’ but at this point in my pregnancy hearing the heartbeat has been the most satisfying and joyous feeling in the world. I am REALLY looking forward to feeling the baby, though!
Becca says
I had that pain as well and it ended up being my gallbladder! It went away with cutting out sugar, carbs, and grease. It sucked, but they did not want to take it out while I was preggo, so it was a super healthy last 3 months of my pregnancy! ha!
Courtney says
Oh man, really?? Did you have to get it taken out afterwards? And cut out sugar?! Nooooooooo! lol
Daisha says
First off: congratulations! I haven’t been on the site in a while, so I’m just now seeing your exciting news! Wishing you and yours all the best!
I miss the movement during pregnancy. Matthew was awesome: he would stay still during my Turbo Kick classes, then get active once I was at home, resting on the couch :) It seemed inconvenient at the time, but that movement is the best validation in the world!
Courtney says
Thanks Daisha! Haha, that’s too funny :)

“Mommy burn out”! Yes. I am 36 weeks with my second. And I have to say…dealing with a 2-year-old already requires so much patience…and it’s so hard to muster it when I’m tired, uncomfortable, and anxious! Then I feel so guilty when I’m like “OK, please just can we not make everything so dramatic and hard?!?!” I’m sure I’ll be totally well-rested and have so much more patience with a newborn ;)
Kristin says
My favorite thing is definitely feeling movement. This one is doing some serious rolls and kicks/punches. I had hopes that my second would be a little calmer than my first, but at the rate this kid moves right now, I don’t think that’s in the cards for us! Feeling a little person move inside of you, something only you can feel and understand, is such an incredible thing. This is our last baby, and that’ll be what I miss the most!
Totally feel ya on mommy burn out. I had that last week when we were snowed in for 4 days (the south doesn’t handle 18 inches of snow very well). We were all losing our minds! A glass of wine would have been very nice… :)
Julie says
Thank you SO much for being honest about feeling a little sad about having a second boy. I think I would feel the same way (not pregnant with second one yet). It’s totally normal, of course, but you are really a hero for sharing that it’s common to feel disappointed. It doesn’t mean you’re not excited for a boy, it just means you are still letting go of not having a girl, and that’s okay! Luckily you have friends with girls and can spoil them with cute outfits!
Bethany says
Love this bump updates! You are cute! I am 30 weeks pregnant and feel kinda selfish that I am ready to meet our little man! I know the worrying will never go away, but the thoughts to make sure he is moving enough and just not being able to see that he is okay is starting to get to me. Plus the I am started to feel more tire (which is a foreign feeling to my normal hyper self). I am also ready to be able to wear ‘my clothes’ again! I feel like I’ve been lied to with everyone telling me maternity pants are amazing! They are not!

I had those lovely spider veins as well. I miss the movements. They were great!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
You are adorable, mama! Over halfway!
