I know I just blasted you with all sorts of bump pictures in my post on Tuesday, but I can’t believe it’s seriously already been 3 weeks since I last posted a bumpdate, so I’ve got to get this out there today (not only for you guys, but for myself too!). Because time is a-flyin’!
Baby is just over 27 weeks today and is about the size of a head of cauliflower. And just for fun, here’s a little comparison to where I was at 27 weeks with Lucas!
HERE’S WHAT BABY HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- Baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14-1/2 inches long with his legs extended.
- He’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals.
- He’s opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers (aww!).
- With more brain tissue developing, baby’s brain is very active now.
Big brother always needs to be in on the action!
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Weight gained: Not sure, but I’ve been pretty consistent at about a pound a week. I have an appointment today, actually, so I’m sure I’ll find out.
Workouts: Going well! I’m still averaging about 4-5 workouts per week, including a mix of strength training, light cardio, and barre. I have noticed that some of the workout I’ve been doing have sections that are starting to get a little tougher to do, but overall I haven’t had to make too many adjustments yet.
And P.S., isn’t the workout top adorable? For Two Fitness® sent me this Sweating for Two Racerback Tank Top to review and I just love it!! (long time readers may remember that I also have a Training for Two tank from For Two Fitness® too).
These pics were from about 25-1/2 weeks along!
The tanks are great, and are made of a super soft and lightweight fabric and stretches and hugs the belly perfectly. They have basic neutrals and bright colors that pop, and I think their slogans are perfect for pregnancy announcements, and for feeling great in your ever-changing body. I wear these two tanks ALL the time when I work out lately! Thanks, For Two Fitness®!
Symptoms:
- Still some stomach discomfort, which varies from day to day and comes and goes randomly.
- A bit of a bloody nose…so gross.
- Ravenous one day then not much of an appetite the next.
- Some Braxton Hicks contractions
- Starting to get tired more easily
Movement: All the time! He’s a mover, just like his brother was. And he seems to really like to get active around 9-10pm at night, usually when I’m laying down for bed.
Food Aversions: Not many that I can think of?
Food Cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary, but a few, including carbs, blueberry-lemon, red meat, cookie dough iced coffees (hehe), lemonade, cereal, peanut butter, melted cheese, and vanilla yogurt with chocolate chips.
Sleep: So-so. Things are starting to get a bit more difficult in the movement department and I usually wake up 1-2 times per night to pee. I think I’m going to have to break out my body pillow soon!
Stretch marks? Nada. Just the veins.
Miss Anything? Being able to bend over with ease, a waist, wine (no surprise!), regular clothes.
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: Nothing out of the ordinary, really. The most exciting things I suppose have been making progress on our basement so we’ll finally have a playroom for these little guys and can clear some of the toys out of the living room.
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but starting to flatten out a bit.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and emotional, not so much moody. Some days I think, ok awesome, I’m ready to be a mom of two! I’m ready to tackle the newborn stage again! And then other days I think…holy hell, how I am I going to DO THIS?
New Baby Items: Diapers! My parents surprised us with three big boxes of newborn and size 1 diapers last week and even though they said it “wasn’t anything exciting,” I beg to differ. Not having to buy diapers is basically like winning the lotto. Well, okay maybe not that great, but still…
Looking Forward To: Meeting him and being able to figure out a name!! Also looking forward to moving the furniture into his room and getting Lucas set up with a new bed that mayyyyybe he’ll sleep in (as opposed to the floor). But I doubt it. ;)
Question for the Moms (same as my question at 27 weeks with Lucas!):
Do you/did you feel like your bump was big/small/average throughout your pregnancy? Did it have any correlation to the size of your bundle of joy when he/she was born?
Britt B. says
Both my bumps we’re pretty average – the second one more on the smaller side – and I ended up with a 6 lb 5 oz and a 6 lb baby! Peanuts! Both my husband and I were born around 6 lbs so we expected smaller babies. :) You look great!
Jenna @Crazy Healthy Fit says
Courtney, where did you get that dress from? I LOVE IT! It looks so comfy, too!
Courtney says
Thanks Jenna! It’s from Target and I LOVE it!!
Kathryn says
With my first, my bump was slightly small, but looong. I was all belly from the bottom of my boobs right to my hips. She was 5 weeks early, so we can only guess, but she was 3lbs, 11oz, and 21in. We think she would have still been long but small.
Second I had a more compact bump, not quite as long, and it stuck out a bit more. That one was full term, not as long as his sister, but he clocked in at 7lb 14oz.
Katie says
My belly gets huge and I had an 8.3 and an 8.11. I’m sure this one will be big as well!
Courtney says
Hahaha, this made me chuckle out loud :)
Sharyn says
I just had my first and she’s 8 weeks old. Throughout my pregnancy my bump was huge but when I had her (she was born when I was 38 weeks) she was 7lbs 9oz and 20 inches long. She just recently grew out of her first newborn outfit and I cannot believe it! My tiny little baby is growing :( lol
Courtney says
Oh my gosh, it goes so fast!!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
i felt like my bump was small and he ended up being a small (but perfectly healthy!) baby at 5 pounds 2 ounces :) :)
Kelsey says
You look so great! That dress is beautiful on you!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
The black dress is super cute on you!!!
Lauren says
In hindsight, my bump was enormous and nobody told me until after the fact it was bigger than any they’d seen. LOL. From the back, I looked the same, but SO much belly.
LO was 8lbs 15 oz, so pretty big. My doctor didn’t tell me he’d be big, but i learned from nurses at the hospital that he was an amazing guessed of baby weight.
Courtney says
Hahahaha! I thought the same thing with Lucas. I look back and am like, WOW, that was a huge bump (then again, he was 8 days late…) ;)
Kristin says
Love the bumpdate :) Again, so similar to mine! I’m all about carbs (in the form of graham crackers mainly) and blueberries right now too! I plan to make your blueberry lemon muffins this weekend.
I had the exact same question for friends with more than 1 baby!! With my first, my bump was small. My son was born at 38 1/2 weeks and was 6 lb 14 oz…so not tiny, but not large. The postpartum nurses said it felt like I had a tilted uterus (tilted more toward my back than out front) which is probably why I looked small. This time around, I’m carrying the same way but I feel bigger. I think my weaker ab muscles are the biggest contributor to that! I measured about a week behind to on time with my first, this time I’m measuring right on time. I think this baby will be a little bigger than my first, especially if I make it to my due date (which I’m also predicting I will!). And since I’m carrying exactly like I was the first time, I’m predicting another boy!
Courtney says
Aww how fun!! Congrats on your pregnancy, Kristin! Will you be finding out this time around??
Becky says
Cute bump! Courtney, I remember you posted before on all the workouts you’ve been doing since pregnant. Where is that page?! It was so helpful. I need to bookmark it.
Courtney says
Thanks Becky! Here you go: https://www.sweettoothsweetlife.com/2016/01/25/second-trimester-fitness-great-workouts-im-loving/
Erica House says
You look gorgeous! I don’t miss the bloody noses one bit!
Taylor says
Girl, you look soo good!!!! I am impressed that you are keeping up your workouts!! Baby boy will be here before you know it!
Annie says
Omg I’m always huge…and all belly, which I’m starting to think is a detriment because I think it hurts more! The weight isn’t being dispersed anywhere else! Anyway, #1 (girl) was 6.15…#2 (girl) was 8.6…and they are predicting #3 (boy) to be close to 10. Shoot me. 3 babies in 2.5 years, yikes!
