Wow, 35 weeks pregnant. Five weeks left? FIVE WEEKS?!? Holy crap, where does the time gooooo???
Baby is just over 35 weeks today and is about the size of a honeydew melon. And honestly, I feel like he’s grown a TON since my last bumpdate!
And for fun, of course, here’s a look at 35 weeks with Lucas, too.
HERE’S WHAT BABY HAS BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK:
- Baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and weighs about 5 1/4 pounds.
- His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products.
- Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
AND HERE’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK:
Weight gained: Not sure. My doctor said I hadn’t really gained at my last appointment, but that was 2 weeks ago.
Workouts: We’re slowing down on that front, that’s for sure. I’ve enjoyed a few workouts from the 7 Minute Wellness app I told you guys about on Friday and will occasionally do something quick here or there after work like some Pilates or upper body weights. Lucas actually loves to do his exercises with me, so sometimes we have fun together “making big muscles,” as he says.
Symptoms:
- Very tired legs
- Some light cramps and many Braxton Hicks
- Not super hungry most of the time
- Occasional nausea that lasts for an hour or two in the mornings
- Easily out of breath
- A lot of groin, pelvic, and hip discomfort
Movement: All day, every day! I think I’ll miss that the most, and I hope I never end up forgetting what it actually feels like. My favorite is when he’s really kicking away and my belly is moving all over the place while we’re sitting on the couch. Jay still thinks it’s the weirdest thing ever, haha!
Food Aversions: Some come and go. Right now, surprisingly enough, Dunkin Donuts coffee is one (even the cookie dough!).
Food Cravings: Fruit and fruit-flavored things, Greek yogurt, lemonade, ice cream (I’ve been craving soft serve in the WORST way!), and cheeseburgers, to name a few.
Sleep: Meh. Not great. I wake up most nights with pretty bad hip pain, so when I get up to pee (of course) I feel like I’m about 90 years old. I’m up for the bathroom usually 2-3x a night, but tend to wake up at least every few hours, if just to roll over and try to get comfortable again. I can’t wait to sleep on my stomach again!
Stretch marks? Belly is still stretch mark free.
Miss Anything? All the usuals, but most of all, I miss my energy and endurance. Things that were so simple (like walking up the stairs while holding Lucas) have become quite a challenge, and I find that I can’t keep up with him on certain things like I had been up until this point. I’ve also been humbled on more than one occasion by an “easy” looking workout which left me challenged.
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: I’m still super lame with this question, sorry.
Belly Button in or out? Slightly popped!
Wedding rings on or off? On and fitting fairly well, although I have noticed a few days where my fingers are definitely swollen.
Happy or moody most of the time: I think I’ve been feeling ALL of the emotions lately. Happy, yes of course. Excited, for sure. Moody, yeah a little (sorry, Jay). Anxious, oh my god, yes. And mostly about labor/delivery. For one, I never really got to experience labor on my own with Lucas (induced at 41+1 weeks) so that makes me very nervous…where will I be? Will I be able to get Lucas somewhere easily? What do contractions that start naturally feel like? Will I go early? Late? Even though this is my second rodeo, there are still a LOT of things unknown so that makes me nervous!
New Baby Items: I have a few new things up on the walls in the nursery and also exchanged a couple of items for in there, too. I had a bit a freak out moment the other day, thinking there were still so many things that we needed so I started updating my Amazon registry (which is really just an internal list for myself so I can get the completion discount when I buy from it!) with a few things I could think of (like new SwaddleMe’s, new Dr. Brown’s nipples for bottles, and a storage caddy to keep downstairs, to name a few). I look at new clothes ALL of the time but always talk myself out of it because we already have so much!
Looking Forward To: Our ultrasound this Friday!! I was able to get my doctor to agree to one more ultrasound and I am SO excited to get a sneak peek of our little guy in there. Since we haven’t seen him since around 19 weeks, I can’t wait to see if he’s still looking just like his brother.
Question for the Moms:
What did you find made you the most anxious/nervous/worried during pregnancy?
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
You look amazing! When I was pregnant with my first, I was nervous about having everything ready for her arrival. Those last 5 weeks I was anxious about when she’d arrive she technically could have arrived whenever (she was 6 days late). With my next pregnancy (I’m not pregnant), I think it’ll be more focused on my daughters transition to being a big sister. I think not knowing how change will affect our family again is hard. I’ll never forget though, the moment my daughter arrived, none of that mattered. She was perfect and made life everything it should be. All that I was anxious about didn’t matter and she became the focus. You’re going to do amazing! So excited for your little one to arrive!

Right now, I am just super anxious to meet our little girl. But, going into labor naturally does worry me a bit because I am such a planner and the unknown bothers me (where will I be, will my husband be at work and I’ll have to drive myself to the hospital or hop a cab, will I be at work and a co-worker have to take me – – thats weird). Little things like that!

You look so great! 35 weeks, oh my gosh! I’m 30 weeks and I feel like I’m really starting to want to get everything in gear for baby boy. I too am wondering how labor will go!! I just hope I’m at home and not at work.

How are you rounding your final weeks of pregnancy?! How exciting that the little guy is about to make his appearance. I wasn’t nervous for my first, but anticipate I will be concerned about sharing my time when we expand our family. But I find that quality trumps quantity.

You look fantastic! I was so nervous for all the same things with labor. But, you really will know. Mine started being timeable and started out like cramps. I didn’t really have Braxton Hicks, though, so I guess they can be confused? But when they kept getting worse and more frequent, I knew it was time ha. But be aware that back labor is a thing! I had it start with cramps but the real contractions were full on in my back. It is an incredible pain and one I hope you don’t deal with, but I didn’t know you could ever have contractions in your back so just a heads up!

Congratulations on reaching 35 weeks. It sounds like you are experiencing a mix of excitement and nerves especially with labor and delivery on the horizon. Hang in there you are doing great.
