Originally, I had planned on taking this past Monday off from work. And it was sure to be amazing. But then this whole pink eye thing happened, putting my plans on the backburner.
But really, I hadn’t been sick, and I wasn’t going to take it off because I had a doctor’s appointment or anything like that. It was just because…I needed a day. At the end of this month, my co-worker is going to be heading out on maternity leave (with twins!), and my workload is likely going to increase significantly for a few months. So because I’ll likely be fairly busy and will try to hold off on taking any unnecessary time off, I decided I’d like to take a day (the “calm before the storm,” if you will) for myself. So even though it didn’t happen on Monday, it will totally be happening soon (I hope!).
Speaking of, have you guys heard of the Ricola®“Call in Well’ initiative? It’s basically the idea of, rather than having to call in sick to work, you take the chance to “call in well,” if you will, and enjoy the day to celebrate how you feel. And to celebrate that, they’re currently running a Call in Well Sweepstakes, where winners will take home $500, PLUS the grand prize winner gets a 4-day, 3-night trip for two to Switzerland. I mean, how can you NOT enter!?!
Sadly, I can’t win since I’m an an ambassador, so make sure you ENTER and hopefully one of you will win and I can live vicariously through you and your trip, mmkay?
But as for my own Call in Well day? Ohhh, it will be so GREAT, you guys. So great! Here’s what I’m planning…
I’ll get up early, like usual, and get my early morning workout done and out of the way. As much as I’d like to think I’d wait and do it later in the day, I know I wouldn’t. I’m not fooling anyone.
I’ll spend the morning with Lucas at home, having some breakfast together without having to rush out of the house for daycare/work. Once we finish eating, we’ll pack up the car and I’ll head to drop him off at daycare.
Once Lucas is at daycare, I’ll venture over to the spa for a morning full of pampering. Originally, I had appointments for both a pregnancy massage AND a facial back to back, and I was so. darn. excited. I had bought a package of 3 massages last year, and still have one remaining, so that was already paid for. And then I also received a gift card from Jay for Christmas, which will cover my facial. Eeeeeek.
I had a pregnancy massage when I was pregnant with Lucas, and it was so, so relaxing. So I’m really looking forward to another one (hopefully!) soon.
After my spa morning was complete, I’d shower up, then probably head over to the mall for a little shopping. I received a couple of gift cards for Christmas and my birthday, and well, Sephora has been calling my name. I’ve got a few products I need to stock up on!
While at the mall, I’d probably grab some lunch. I don’t know where…although, if we’re not counting calories (not that I count calories…don’t anyone get in a tizzy, I’m just saying), then I’d probably stop at The Cheesecake Factory for a big ol’ hunk of cheesecake.
Once my belly was full, my next stop would be for a much-needed pedicure. I usually only try to do one or two during the winter, and then maintain at home, but it’s been a while and it’s time. So I’d go to one of my favorite spots and zone out in the massage chair while they attempted to make my toes pretty.
By this time, it would likely be getting close to when I’d need to pick up Lucas. So if time allowed, I’d make a pit stop at Trader Joe’s to stock up on all of my favorite goodies.
And that, my friends, will hopefully be my ideal Call in Well Day soon! Nothing like feeling good and taking a day to celebrate it.
And in case you’re not feeling well, be sure to check out the Ricola® Extra Strength Glacial Mint Drops.
They combine a unique blend of ten natural Swiss alpine herbs, natural menthol and a soothing syrup center to help with that pesky cough you might be sporting.
How about you guys? What would your ideal “Call in Well” day look like??

This day sounds amazing! I’m a local (and pregnant) reader and was thinking about booking a pregnancy massage. What spa do you recommend?

I would love to call in well but it’s tax season and you have to show up no matter what. Coworkers come in sick so I take Emergen-C everyday to try and stay healthy. I would definitely do a massage and I’ve been really wanting a pedicure.

That sounds fabulous! Hope you get to do it soon.
