It’s another Day in the Life over here on STSL today! And it’s got a pretty sweet ending [hint, it’s a rich and creamy ice cream that has fewer calories and I’m getting the first taste!]. I’m excited to share more about N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream with you all, so keep on reading!

3:30am – Woken up by Alex who came walking in holding his pillow, teddy, and a toy car, letting me know he needs to use the bathroom. Alrighty then. Bring him in, bring him back to bed, and back to bed for me.
4:30am – Alarm goes off. Woof. Regretting the fact I didn’t get to bed until about 10pm the night before. Hit snooze once because I know I can.
4:40am – Alarm goes off again. Roll out of bed, put on workout clothes I laid out the night before, put in contacts, brush teeth, head downstairs, and I’m out the door.
4:55am – Arrive at Anatomie for this morning’s 5am Body class. It was an awesome partner workout, which really left me missing my gal, Natalia, who couldn’t make it this morning. The workout was a ladder style (i.e., 1,2,3,4,5…) and looked a little something like this:
Partner 1
- KB deadlifts (60lbs)
- Thrusters with a plate (25lbs)
- Bent over row with a plate (25lbs)
- Pushups with band around the wrists
Partner 2 (while partner 1 completes strength moves above)
Rowing machine @ 2:00 pace
It was a good one, for sure!!
5:45am – Class is done, stretch for a few minutes, then head back home to hop in the shower after that sweaty mess.
6:20am – Feeling hopeful that just mayyyybe I’ll be able to get through my whole makeup/bathroom routine before I have a visitor. But noooope, not so much. I debate on whether or not I want to send him back to bed until his clock turns green, but I just don’t have the fight in me this morning and he’s being really sweet, so I choose not to fight that battle this morning.
7:15am – Finish up with makeup and hair, and get dressed for the day. I’m not feeling much of anything in my closet today but I grab an old sweater I know doesn’t require ironing. Always a bonus.
7:30am – Head downstairs, we all say goodbye to Jay, then I pour my mug of coffee + collagen and sip on that while I start getting the rest of our stuff together for the morning.
7:45am – Get both boys dressed, then they actually do a great job of occupying themselves in the office/playroom with some legos and dancing to music. Arguing is at a minimum today, score!
8:00am – Lucas has some breakfast (he requested waffles today),, and while I’m elbow deep in the freezer grabbing ’em, I catch a glimpse of the N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream waiting for me later in the evening. Then both boys sit at the table coloring for a while. This morning has gone so smooth, and I don’t know what I did to deserve it, but I’m soaking it all in.
8:25am – Time to clean up at the table, have the boys brush their teeth, get on shoes/coats/backpacks, and we head outside to wait for the bus.
8:35am – Lucas is off to school and I chat with Tal in the driveway for a few minutes before Alex and I hop in the car to head to preschool. I have a few extra minutes to spare before drop off, so I make a quick stop for an iced coffee on the way. I really did not need another coffee today, but it’s just one of those habits that’s hard to break, ya know?!
9:05am – Arrive at preschool and keep my fingers crossed for a tear-free drop off.
We weren’t exactly tear-free today, but his teacher is just wonderful, and already had him calmed down by the time I was heading out the door. I know he’s going to have a great day, and I’ve started to get somewhat accustomed to the rocky drop offs.
9:15am – Arrive at work and dive right into my inbox to get the day started. Once I’ve handled everything waiting for me, I break open my container of cottage cheese + blueberries that I packed, and also top it with some trail mix I have stashed in my desk.
11:00am – Work, work, work. I’m getting super hungry, but I know we’re having a special brunch/lunch shortly so I’m trying to hold off on digging into my snacks. Get a notification that Lucas’s soccer practice that was scheduled for tonight is cancelled, and I’m honestly, SO pumped. I did not feel like running out there tonight!
12:00pm – Brunch/lunch time with the team! We decided to organize a little thing for our managers/bosses for “Boss’s Day” and everyone contributed a little something to add to the spread. It was SO good. My contribution to the potluck was an Apple Cinnamon Roll Cake, which I had made the night before (and told you about last week!).
The thing was INSANE.
3:30pm – Wrap up things at work for the day then head home. I don’t have to worry about picking up Alex from daycare today, since he had preschool and is with my MIL in the afternoon, so that’s always nice to not have to worry about rushing back to pick him up before the bus arrives!
3:45pm – Back home and Lucas just got back from school. Talk with him for a few minutes before he inevitably races back outside to be able to play with his buddy, then chat with my MIL for a bit to hear about Alex’s day.
4:00pm – The boys are outside playing, and almost all of the neighborhood kids eventually wind up in the backyard playing, and I absolutely love it.
5:00pm – We wrap things up outside so everyone can get back home and start to get their own dinners ready. We didn’t have anything special planned, since we anticipated having to race out for soccer, so everyone takes their pick from the massive amount of leftovers currently residing in our fridge. My first choice is N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream, but I wait, and have my second choice, chili and buttermilk biscuits.
6:15pm – Boys are playing so I take advantage and start taking a few more pictures of the N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream I recently received (who is so kindly sponsoring today’s post!) and also start drafting up part of this post, too.
Of course, while trying to photograph a few inside, somebody snuck in and got his hands on the goods…
7:20pm – Jay and I are totally stalling on bringing the boys up to start their bath/bedtime routine, and instead, they’re playing catch with the football and scoring “touchdowns.”
7:30pm – Enough stalling, time to bring ‘em up. Jay and I tag team tubs/showers/teeth/jammies/books/bed with the boys. I swear, some nights this routine takes SO long!
8:20pm – Done with bedtime. Within a span of about 5 minutes, Alex has gotten out of bed twice, and Lucas out once, but I think everyone is finally settled, so back downstairs I go.
9:00pm – Jay and I chat for a bit, clean up, then we choose a show to watch on the DVR (Chicago PD tonight), which means I finally get to settle in with a pint of N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream, which I’ve been waiting for ALL day!
N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream is a new, premium ice cream, and I’m telling you, I can’t get enough of it. You guys know I love my sweets (especially ice cream!), and for being a light ice cream, N!CK’S is seriously delicious, and surprisingly, rich and creamy for having fewer calories.
N!CK’S sent me a few different flavors to try in anticipation for this blog post, and I can tell you that I have sat down and successfully eaten a whole pint, not once, but twice. No shame in my game, friends.
The caramel cappuccino flavor is my favorite so far!
9:45pm – N!CK’S Swedish-style Light Ice Cream is long gone, show is over, and I’m fairly confident I fell asleep on the couch at least twice while watching. I absolutely love my early morning workouts, but I really need to be better about getting to bed earlier because I’m wiped!
10:00pm – Head upstairs, wash face, brush teeth, lights OUT.
