Well, it’s been about a month, so how about we switch things up a bit and do a little Day in the Life?!
I started yesterday with the intention of trying to document what I could for today’s post, but it turns out that yesterday wasn’t all that exciting of a day. Regardless, I committed to the post, so here’s a look at a random work day for this working mama!
5:30am – Alarm goes off for my morning workout. Hit snooze. No wayyy I’m getting up just yet.
5:39am – Alarm goes off again. Accept the fact that a workout just isn’t going to happen today and give myself another 45 minutes or so of wonderful, amazing sleep.
6:25am – Time to get up. Shower, do make up, get half dressed, and dry hair.
7:10am – Run downstairs to grab my computer and bring it upstairs so I can log into work and take care of a few things that need to be done before I get into the office.
Snap a selfie because I know I’m writing this post.
7:25am – Go in to get Lucas from his room since I hear he’s up and knocking on his door. I change his diaper and bring him into our room so I can finish getting ready.
7:35am – Get dressed, finish hair (hairspray, always a necessity!), and play around the room with Lucas for a few minutes.
7:45am – Head downstairs to join Jay and my mother in law who just arrived. She watches Lucas at our house on Tuesdays, so it’s nice because it gives me a break from having to pack his breakfast/lunch and get him dressed. Good thing today, too, because I’m running behind…
7:50am – Say goodbye to Jay, who’s leaving for work, and quickly throw together a sandwich for my lunch and grab a few things that I can take for breakfast.
8:00am – Rush to get the rest of my stuff together, say my goodbyes to my baby and MIL, and head out the door.
8:05am – Debate on stopping at Starbucks for a coffee (I have a free drink reward to use!) but see the line is long and I’ve got to get to work. No coffee for me today.
8:10am – Arrive at work. Do the usual morning check-ins (although I was able to take care of a lot of this when I logged into work earlier at home) and break out my breakfast because I’m starving. I had grabbed a vanilla Oikois greek yogurt, some blueberries, and a random mix of cereals that were almost gone (Quaker Oatmeal Squares + Kashi Go Lean Crunch).
8:15am – Continue working through my emails, etc. while eating breakfast. It’s a busy morning so it’s almost 45 minutes before breakfast is finished (sheesh!).
Work, work, work!
11:00am – Realize I’m supposed to be in the meeting (that I run) and quickly run downstairs to the conference room. I have to pee suuuuper bad, but no time. Gotta hold it.
11:50am – Meeting is over! Rush to the bathroom, then head back to my desk and realize I’m starving. Time for lunch!
I made some of my favorite chicken salad on Monday night, so I used it in a sandwich on wheat bread with green leaf lettuce. Nothing fancy, but mannnnn, that stuff is SO good! I eat my sandwich while continuing to work away because my day is ridiculously busy at this point and I realize I’m likely not going to be able to run out to Target on my lunch hour like I had planned. Ahh well.
1:00pm – My boss stops by so we can talk about a few things, and he offers me a cookie from…Hawaii! He was there for a consult all last week, and just so happened to bring back some macadamia nut cookies to share with the team. Ummm, don’t mind if I dooooo!
The cookie was freakin incredible, and I had no shame in asking him for a second one…for the baby of course. He laughed at me until he realized I was serious. So he came back about 5 minutes later with a second one…which I happily took and ate immediately.
2:00pm – The work keeps on coming. I realize that I need to schedule a bunch of labs/meetings for our team, so I buckle down and devote all of my attention to them so I can try to finish up before the day is over. I also snack on a banana.
3:26pm – I complete all of the scheduling with 4 minutes to spare before my day is up! WOOT WOOT!
3:40pm – Wrap everything up and head out the door. Debate on stopping at Target (I really need to get eye drops, eye makeup remover, and diaper genie refills), but realize they can all wait one more day.
3:45pm – Stop at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription…which has beet sitting for about 4 days and I keep forgetting to get it. I’m a disaster.
4:00pm – Arrive at home and am greeted by my happy little camper. Oh, how I missed him!
4:15pm – Chat with my MIL about Lucas’s day (no nap for him, but overall he was good…so she says!). Walk by the pantry and grab a couple handfuls of Kashi crackers because I’m hungry.
4:30pm – The plan is for Jay to bring pizza home for all of us after he gets out of work, so me and my mother in law hang around and play with Lucas. This is his pooping corner, FYI. He was up to no good.
5:15pm – Jay texts me and says he’s running late and isn’t sure when he’s going to be home. Since I was fairly certain Lucas wouldn’t have eaten the pizza anyways, I head to the kitchen and make a quick batch of Easy Cheesy Spinach Pasta for him. He’s super excited because he loves to help mix up the sauce in the mini food processor!
5:40pm – Text with Jay some more and he’s still not sure when he’ll be home, but will likely be a while. So we decide to scrap the original dinner plans and my MIL heads home. Lucas finishes up all of his pasta and eats a yogurt (victory!), I snag a couple bites of pasta myself, then we alternate between going downstairs to jump on the trampoline and running around the kitchen singing and dancing along to The Lion King.
6:15pm – Jay texts me and says he should be leaving work soon and will still stop and grab a pizza on the way home. Awesome…I was really craving pizza! To help wind down the wild child (how he has the energy he has on days he doesn’t nap is beyond me…) we sit and snuggle on the couch and I turn on an episode of Paw Patrol.
He’s fake sleeping, in case you were wondering.
7:00pm – Jay finally makes it home…with Hawaiian pizzaaaaaa.
7:02pm – Maybe even 7:01…I break into the box of pizza and scarf down 2-1/2 slices within the matter of about 5 minutes while catching up with Jay. I was starving!!
7:20pm – The three of us all hang out and play in the living room for a while until it’s time to bring Lucas up for bed.
8:00pm – Get Lucas in his jammies, brush teeth, use the potty(!), and read bedtime stories. He’s still full of energy as I leave the room, but he’s out like a light in no time.
8:10pm – Change into my cozies (finally!), then head downstairs to join Jay in the living room. Grab my computer so I can start writing up this post while also listening to Colleen and Stephanie on the Taboo Mom Talk on Blab (they’re still trying to work through technical difficulties, so I’m hoping to be able to join next week…I’ll keep you all updated!
8:30pm – Watch New Girl while continuing to write up this post and Cody comes to snuggle with me.
9:00pm – We decide to watch Chicago Med, I grab a cookie bar for dessert, then finish up this post.
10:00pm – Time to call it a night!
How about you guys? What was the highlight of your day yesterday??

We had a holiday yesterday, here in Russia, so the whole day was a continuous highlight. I love days like this! A little rest at the beginning of the week perfectly shorten the time until the weekend;)

Being a momma is such a full time job!! The highlight of yesterday was when William wanted to sit down and read a bunch of books! He’s very busy, but still likes to sit in my lap and read!

Please note my jealousy that your boss shared the macadamia cookies from Hawaii! So good, take me back! A highlight was sitting on the couch at night relaxing and knowing everyone was sleeping safe and sound.

I LOVE day in the life posts!! So interesting to see what other people who live in a completely different world (so it seems) do on a daily basis. It’s like story time :D I also bookmarked your chicken salad recipe! Thanks for sharing, it looks great! :D

Love these posts!! You are a busy lady! Highlight of my Tuesday was getting a 4 mile run in on the treadmill after work when I really wanted to just lay on the couch.

I am truly dreading when my toddler stops napping. She just turned 2, and I think it has happened twice, and I am beyond exhausted on those days. Most days she naps for over 3 hours, thankfully. Although, with the new baby coming, I don’t think both will be asleep at the same time that often anyway, so I better get used to a new normal. :)

LOL to the cookies thing! They look really good. I love being pregnant at work too and taking advantage of more food opportunities. I LOVE seeing little snaps of your house. I love all the greys and your bedding.
The highlight of my yesterday was being able to go to the gym after I thought it was closed for the day due to a power outage.

Any chance we can have a home tour? I’d love to see the rooms! Your decorating looks amazing. Working moms are heros. I only work three days a week and it’s crazy how long it takes me to get things done in the morning and get out the door, and then how fast the day goes after! Highlight of my day yesterday was enjoying some family time!

I love reading about your daily life! You say you didn’t do a lot, but this seems like a full day! I admire mommas so much, and I am amazed by everything you accomplish throughout the day, all the while taking care of a little human being!
The highlight of my day yesterday was getting to watch my boss’s baby girl! She’s 6 months old and is the light of the world! So many giggles- she just learned how to laugh and chuckles at just about everything, effortlessly making my heart fall to pieces each time! <3

The highlight of my day yesterday was a lunchtime spin class! It felt so good to get a workout in despite sleeping in. :)

Those look like Big Island Candies cookies! My favorite! I probably shouldn’t tell you that you can have those cookies delivered to you…for the baby of course, haha.
I had hawaiian pizza for the first time ever a few days ago-it was surprisingly delicious!

I really enjoyed reading this post as I could relate to alot of things you went through – such as hitting the snooze button and realizing there would be no workout. I also found the whole Starbucks line thing amusing because that happened to be today when I used the drive through at Dunkin Donuts to claim a free reward I had as well. I look forward to more posts like these!
