It looks like we’re making this a monthly thing. I like it!
5:15am – Alarm goes off. Hit SNOOZE. Duh.
5:24am – Alarm goes off again. One more snooze and I should still be okay…
5:33am – Alarm goes off again. Okay, I’m up. Shut off alarm, throw on some workout clothes, put in contacts, grab my computer, and head to the basement.
5:40am – Workout time! Today is a legs day and woahhh baby, was I feelin’ it. I’ve actually been sort of obsessed with the videos from the 21 Day Fix program lately. I’m borrowing them from a friend at work and they have been great. Quick, 30-ish minutes, and definitely leave me feeling it the next day or two.
6:15am – Workout is finished. Chug some water then head to the shower to get ready for the day.
6:30am – Brush teeth, do makeup, start to dry hair. Dryer dies on me. Crap…guess I’m going to work with a head full of damp, awkwardly wavy hair today.
6:55am – I’m greeted at the bathroom door by my two favorite boys. I hadn’t even heard them get up! I smother them with kisses, go out and get Lucas his morning cup of milk, then continue to get ready while my shadow follows me.
7:10am – Iron clothes, get dressed, change the scarf with my outfit about 3 times before finally choosing one. Today’s outfit is SO ridiculously comfy, I wish I could wear it every day.

Sweater: Gap Outlet
-
Tank: NY&Co.
-
Skirt: Merona Knit Maxi Skirt
-
Scarf: I honestly can’t remember
7:30am – Head out to the kitchen to get thing together for work and make sure Lucas has everything ready for his day. Jay offers to make my coffee and discovers that the Keurig isn’t working; apparently, we tripped a breaker so the positive news is that my hair dryer isn’t broken. Score!
7:45am – My mother-in-law arrives to watch Lucas for the day (his sitter is closed for the next two weeks – thank goodness for family and flexible work schedules!). We chat for a bit, I grab my lunch bag, coffee, and a gift for my boss, and I’m out the door.
8:10am – Arrive at work. Turn on my computer and log in while catching up with a co-worker about our weekends.
8:15am – Eat some breakfast (yogurt with granola & banana with PB) then work, work, work!
10:00am – Email back and forth about a Christmas gift for someone. Turns out it’s going to be a bit more difficult to get than I realized. Luckily, I think I’ve got it figured out.
10:30am – Snack on a piece of Old Fashioned Apple Bread. I took it out of the freezer this weekend and had totally forgotten that I put it in there back in March.
11:45am – Scoot out of work for my lunch hour to take care of picking up a few last minute Christmas gifts. I found everything I needed, didn’t get stuck in any crazy lines, AND got some of the best parking spots in the lots. The shopping gods were with me!
12:40pm – Arrive back at work. Check emails, work on some tickets and break into my lunch. I’ve been SO bad with veggies lately (like, I’m not kidding…) so I’m making a conscious effort to at least try to sneak them into my lunches this week.
1:00pm – Work, work, work!
2:30pm – End up taking a little chocolate break while chatting with a few co-workers.
Love having good people to work with!
3:30pm – Work day is OVER. Finish up a few last minute things, get my things together and it’s time to head home.
4:00pm – Arrive at home. Lucas is down for his afternoon nap so I chat for a little bit with my MIL as we watch Ellen. Man, how amazing would it be to be at one of her 12 Days of Christmas episodes, right?!
4:25pm – Little man wakes up from his nap. I go in and greet him, we hang out, and I change a poopy diaper. My MIL leaves, and me and the little man continue to have some mommy-Lucas time.
5:00pm – Daddy’s home! Jay and I chat a bit about our days while I work on putting together Lucas’s dinner and some leftovers for ourselves for dinner.
5:30pm – Dinner time. Lucas, thank goodness, is back to eating normally (at least for the past few days). Tonight he and I are both having a hot dog (we’re totally loving the Applegate Farms brand these days)…
He has his with some leftover sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, half of a pear, and some goldfish.
I have mine split on a piece of bread (my mom used to make them for me like this ALL the time growing up!) topped with some avocado and sautéed peppers and onions, along with the rest of our leftover mashed sweet potatoes and green beans.
It was a clear-out-the-fridge kinda night, if you couldn’t already tell.
6:00pm – Lucas hangs out in his chair for a bit playing with Jay while I clean up the dishes. Not too many to do tonight, which is much appreciated. I also nibble on a few pieces of leftover fudge from the cookie tray Jay brought into work today…
6:15pm – Play time! The three of us play around the living room, dance, and we also let him watch a little bit of his favorite thing in the world right now, Big Block. I don’t know how we came across it (they’re played on Disney Junior), and all they are are these random, 2-ish minute clips that all have different themes, but the child is ob-sessed.
It is the one and only thing that can keep our constantly moving little character still. It’s somethin’ else.
7:10pm – Somebody is showing he’s tired, so I take him in to change into his PJ’s (it’s not a tubby night) and Jay gets his bottle ready for him. Jay has to head out to take care of his Christmas shopping, so I give Lucas his bottle, we read a few stories, and then he’s in bed.
7:25pm – As I’m coming back out into the living room, I hear a truck driving away from the house so I check the front step…
A Stitch Fix delivery! Merry early Christmas to meeeee. I’m tempted to rip it open, but I hold off since I know I want to get done first.
7:30pm – Time to make up some goody bags! I’ve already made two huge cookie trays, so now I just had to bag up a few individual bags for some co-workers, the mailman, and the UPS man (if I can catch him!), all while Franklin supervised.
7:50pm – Bags are finished. Time to start typing up this post.
8:15pm – I got distracted on Facebook and with checking emails…whoops. Keep working on the post. Get to this point right here and take a break.
8:45pm – Jay gets home, and we settle in on the couch together to watch Mike & Molly. Does anyone else watch this show? HILARIOUS.
9:20pm – Finish up this blog post while snacking on another cookie (oh, did I not mention I was snacking on them earlier while putting together the bags?).
9:40pm – Wash face, brush teeth, change into PJ’s, and hop in to bed. Read a couple chapters of my latest book on my phone. For now, I took Chelsey’s recommendation and am reading The Memory Child. However, I have about 4 more on my “Wish List” on Amazon to remind me to read those next – thank you guys for the recommendations last Friday!
10:15pm – Lights out.

I love reading your day in the life posts! I’m having twins in a few months and I know my schedule is going to be turned upside down….especially workouts! Any suggestions in your favorite workout dvd’s?
Courtney says
My favorites lately have all been beachbody ones, actually (and no, I’m not a coach!). Thanks to a friend at work letting me borrow, I’ve been a huge fan of T25, PiYo, and now the 21 Day Fix. They’re all quick and effective!
Bethany says
How do you find the energy???!!! :)
Courtney says
Hahaha…who knows :)
Brynn says
I cannot tell you how many times I thought my blow dryer was broken when in fact the breaker had tripped! Ayeayeaye.
Christen says
I’m going to have to check out “Big Block” I have a little one just a little bit older than Lucas and I think she’d really like it!
Courtney says
Yes! He seriously loves it, and it’s the oddest little thing for him to like, of all the shows out there!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
I will forever love day in the life posts! I also love putting sausages in a piece of bread, sort of like a hot dog.
Your goody bags look great!
Courtney says
Thanks, Alison!

Quick question, what shoes do you wear with your maxi skirt? Boots? I always want to wear them in cooler weather but typically don’t ever wear them except in the summer!
Courtney says
Yes, boots! I just wear my black ones from Target that I wear ALL. THE. TIME. I used to feel the same way (wasn’t sure what to wear with them in the winter) but they’ve worked out great! They just blend in really well with the skirt :)
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely says
I love “Day in the Life” posts. Call me curious or creepy, but I do! :-) Those cookies…yum! I refer to your multiple Christmas cookie lists all the time. In fact, hoping to make some of your chocolate raspberry bars today! Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
Courtney says
Hahaha, I think it’s safe to just say curious. ;) And, YUM, the raspberry bars!! Jay made them earlier this week to bring to his office and, man, are they a favorite over here!
Liv @ Healthy Liv says
Isn’t it weird how day in the life posts are so interesting? Are we all just really nosy?!
Courtney says
Yep, we’re all definitely nosy…myself included ;)
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Sounds like a productive day! Those are the best. I need to check out those Big Block clips for Hunter. Nothing makes that child sit still! ;)
Courtney says
Haha, seriously, right!? It is the ONLY thing that will hold his attention and, boy, is it great when we’re in need of some down time!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Well done on the early morning workout!!! Did you end up opening the stitch fix?! Any good??
Courtney says
I DID end up opening it, and it’s a great one!! Can’t wait to share :)

Hopefully for Christmas Ill be getting all those 30 min long DVDs I wanted. Getting exercise in with a toddler is HARD! I tried waking up early a few weeks ago, and I turned my alarm off and went back to bed every day. I need to start waking up early to exercise!
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner says
Those cookie bags look amazing! And I can’t wait to see what is in your Stitch Fix :)
Kate says
Where is your purse from?

I got it from Stitch Fix, but it’s actually also sold on Sole Society! http://bit.ly/1xIMrYJ

Never a dull moment with kids around! Some days I feel like I’m on the run from morning to the sweet relief of bedtime.
Jenn@Mark My Miles! says
I’m impressed that not only does Lucas sit in his highchair to eat, but he also sits in it long enough to have you guys finish your meals as well. Our little man hate sitting in it and it’s a constant war to get him in it. Any tips on how to get him to sit?
Courtney says
Hey Jenn! Haha, Lucas used to be the SAME way. Unfortunately (fortunately?!) he’s now currently OBSESSED with Big Block Singsong. There is a playlist on YouTube that we play for him occasionally when we want him to sit for a while and the child will sit for EVER. It’s a blessing a curse all at once (because he ALWAYS wants to watch it…) ;)
Jenn@Mark My Miles! says
Thank you! I’m going to give it a try!
