Last night’s ‘Girls Night’ party was so much fun!
I always love a good excuse to get together with girlfriends, and last night was definitely one of those nights. I’ve actually been wanting to do something like this for months now, but just never got around to putting something together.
Right after the last time that I mentioned wanting to have a party, I was contacted by blog reader, Nicole. She told me how, in the past, she has done joint parties that include both the company that she works for, as well as Tastefully Simple. Well, it sounded too fun to pass up, so I immediately got to work on putting something together.
Part 1 of the Party: Tastefully Simple
Unfortunately, the Tastefully Simple consultant I contacted couldn’t make it, but she was still able to get me a full party kit so I could prepare all of the delicious food and offer it to my guests. It was quite the spread!
We had three different dips, a smoky cheddar cheese ball, a key lime cheese ball (YUM), beer bread (totally buying some), and almond pound cake.
OMG. The pound cake…
It was to die for. So moist, so full of almond flavor, so not good for you, so easy to make.
Nicole did a really great job of stepping in and helping pass around the different Tastefully Simple snacks, and everyone was able to snack on everything throughout the evening. Once this part was finished, we started in with part two of the party…
Part 2 of the Party: Thirty-One
When Nicole first contacted me, I had never heard of Thirty-One before, but right after checking out the website, I knew it’d be a hit with me and the rest of the girls. I happened to come out into the living room right after she had finished up and I told her it looked just like Christmas morning…
There was SO MUCH fun stuff!! (P.S. – can you spot the Creeper?)
We played a couple of fun games (including the purse game) before learning about some of the products.
I have my eye on quite a few things from the catalog, but am still trying to narrow it down before finalizing my decision…
I like a few things from here…
And here…
And I LOVE this yellow pattern too…
So many fun things to choose from…yikes!
After Nicole had finished sharing the information about the various products, we all spent some time snacking on more food, drinking wine, scoping out the goods, and having a few good laughs. As we were all chatting away, somebody else decided to get in on the action…
Apparently my cat likes handbags too?
He’s quite the little stinker.
Once the party was over, the boys (who were all out having their own ‘Guys Night’ at a local pub) came back and spent a little more time hanging out and helping us finish up the snacks. I definitely wound up going to bed with a little bit of a stomach ache from snacking on so much stuff, but it was such a fun night that I wasn’t even worried about it.
*If there’s anyone interested in ordering anything from Tastefully Simple or Thirty-One, shoot me an email – sweettoothcourtney[@]gmail[.]com. Both of my orders will probably be open until Monday, so let me know!*

This morning, I slept in until 10:00am. I loved it and hated it at the same time. On the one hand, half of my morning was gone, but on the other hand, I REALLY needed the extra sleep and finally felt refreshed for once upon waking. Definitely necessary.
Once I got my lazy self out of bed and spent a bit of time lounging on the couch, I got to work on making some breakfast.
I still have a good amount of that darn pound cake left over, so you know I just had to incorporate it into breakfast. It served as the perfect topping for today’s oats:
- 1/3 cup Coach’s Oats
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 mashed banana
- 1 tsp almond extract
- cinnamon & nutmeg
I topped off the oatmeal with a serving of honey cinnamon pb, banana slices, and a piece of almond pound cake, and I’m very tempted to say that this was more like dessert than it was breakfast.
Absolutely delicious.
Now I’m just working on mustering up some motivation to workout…it’s a cardio day and my asthma is totally out of whack right now, so we’ll see what happens.
Are there any other asthma sufferers who are noticing more severe symptoms than normal lately? The past three mornings I’ve woken up with tight chest and wheezing like crazy. Ughh…the joys of asthma.
Anywho…I’m just happy it’s the weekend! Off to go enjoy the day.

Looks like a great girls night! You’ve actually got me thinking I should organise something similar. So easy to keep snacking when you have all that food just sitting there, worth the tummy ache if it was yummy! :) Hope your asthma gets better!

Sounds like an awesome girls’ night!! I slept in today for the first time in ages and it felt GREAT! The best part is we still have one more day with sleeping in potential this weekend :)

LOVE that you put leftover pound cake in your breakfast! Looks like you had a great time last night … girls nights are one of my fave things to do, and they sure don’t happen enough!

Looks like a blast, and I love the Thirty-one stuff! I had never heard of it until last year when a friend had a party. I ended up getting a cute little makeup bag and a lunch bag. If you’re looking for something along those lines, I can highly recommend the lunch bag. With an ice pack, it keeps my stuff cold all day. And they are just so darn cute! Mine is the black/grey/white polka dot one.
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
I’ve never heard of thirty-one either, but wow do they have some cute stuff! I can’t wait til I’m making money and can throw parties like that…I know it would make for a great girls night! I’m pretty sure Zoey would be in the midst of all the products too haha…animals seem to love getting into things ;).

Looks like you guys had a great time :) I actually just got the bag all the way to the right of the yellow page in that pattern. I love the yellow pattern, I also had to get the wristlet wallet in it too. I have a few Thirty One bags and love them :)

I have asthma too and it has been SO bad lately. I wake up several times through out the night hardly able to breathe, and first thing in the morning is usually the worst. I have no idea why its so bad this year!
Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life says
Those snack and bags look great! Definitely checking out the catalogs.
As for your asthma, I know that pollen levels are high right now so that might have something to do with it. I’ve been sneezy, sniffly and itchy eyed all week so I feel your pain.
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
Tastefully Simple products are so, SO yummy! I don’t personally own any 31 products, but it’s popular with all of the women that I work with!

My asthma has been terrible lately. It is so frustrating when you are trying to stay on a fitness routine and can’t breath. Do you take any preventative meds? I take Advair and it isn’t a 100% solution but it does help.
Ps. I also had cake for breakfast :-)
CJ @ http://healthy-happy-whole.com says
i love thirty one bags! i have two of their coolers and they are AMAZING for farmers markets, grocery shopping, packing picnics or lunches and i love that you can get them personalized! ive gotten them for gifts for a lot of my friends and family and they are always super excited! looks like you had a fun night :-)
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
That party sounds like a blast! I’ve never done anything like that! Although I have to be honest, I think I’d feel a little uncomfortable if I didn’t intend to buy anything. Granted, I feel guilty taking samples at grocery stores… haha.
j3nn says
Awww, your kitty is so cute! We have 4, and yeah, it’s all about them whether they are invited to the party or not. ;)
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Looks like fun! :)

I’ve been to both types of parties and they’re both awesome products! If you’re looking at the wallet I would HIGHLY recommend it! I love mine because it’s the only one that will fit everything I have and then some in it. On another note I sooo want that organizer that I noticed was on one of the pages you had open…i just haven’t been able to justify the cost yet. Glad you all had fun!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Those snacks look amazing! :) I’ve been hearing so much about Thirty One lately. Their bags are super cute!
I have asthma and I noticed that it’s been harder to breathe lately. I think it’s because of the pollen levels. They have been really high lately because the early warm weather.

I’m so happy you like the Thirty-One items! I’m a independent consultant for them down in south Jersey! I had never heard of them before the Fall but started thinking about making some extra money on the side and signed up on a whim. I’ve only been doing it for a few months but it’s been super easy & fun! If anyone wants to see the catalog feel free to take a look on my site: http://www.mythirtyone.com/LaurenFields/
