Fall Trends to Wear Now

By Courtney 10 Comments

Hey guys! I’m excited to share a fun, fashion-forward guest post with you all today, on a topic that I had had on my mind for a while now…fall fashion!

Because, let’s be honest, I’m not really THE most fashionable person out there, I enlisted the help of fellow blogger, Ava from The Fit Girls Dish. She’s got some great style, and has definitely got me thinking of some staple pieces I might want to add this fall (except for the faux fur…I’m just not sure I can pull that look off while chasing after a two year old?!).

But anywho…enough about me. Let’s get to the good stuff. Take it away, Ava!

***************

Fall is here, guys, and I am thrilled! I know for most girls, Fall is their absolute favorite season. Apple picking, pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING, and gorgeous weather. In addition to all of this, Fall is my favorite season to style for. Layers, chunky sweaters, and awesome boots..Here are Fall trends that you’ve just got to have in your wardrobe this season!

1. Plaid.

Plaid is everywhere right now, and it’s the easiest “stole this from the boyfriend” look to rock. Wear an oversized plaid shirt with boyfriend jeans for a casual daytime look, or a tighter fit button-up with a pair of flattering boot-cut jeans for a dinner out. It’s cute and comfortable – win!

AvaPlaid

Where to Buy:

  • Nordstrom button up
  • Forever 21 button up
  • Madewell oversized t-shirt
  • Old Navy dress
  • Old Navy button up

2. Suede

Suede has made its way to skirts! A suede skirt with tights and a cute sweater is huge this season! Depending on the shoes you choose, a suede skirt will work for class, work, or holiday party.

Suede

Where to Buy:

  • Nordstrom skirt
  • Nordstrom skirt #2
  • Lord & Taylor skirt

3. Fringe

All of my Boho girls out there, this one’s for you! No longer is fringe suitable only for that outdoor music festival. These days, fringe is found on sweaters, bags, skirts, and anything else you can think of! What an easy way to show off your playful side.

Fringe

Where to Buy:

  • AE open sweater (love!)
  • Sole Society scarf
  • Macy’s sweater
  • Bloomingdale’s fringe tee

4. Cargo

Military jackets, anoraks, and cargo are back yet again. These have been back in style for a few years now, but this year I’ve seen some with added button details, hoods, or different shades of green and tan. This is the perfect light jacket to wear on days where we know we need an extra layer!

AvaCargo

Where to Buy:

  • Old Navy jacket
  • Nordstrom jacket (Note from Courtney – I LOVE THIS)
  • Express military jacket
  • Express military jacket #2

5. Faux Fur

For those that like to jazz up their outfit a little bit, this trend is the perfect way to get the job done! If you’re not ready to commit to a faux fur coat, try a faux fur vest! It can look elegant or edgy depending on the rest of your outfit, plus it will keep you super warm!

FauxFur

Where to Buy:

  • Nordstrom vest
  • Revolve fur vest (Note from Courtney: maybe I could pull this one off?)
  • Nordstrom – combines the military jacket and faux fur in one!

If you’ve got these wardrobe staples checked off, then I’d say you’ve got yourself a pretty fashionable Fall coming up!

Xo

So what do you guys think? Any of these Fall trends something you would wear, or already do??

CUTE! I was at Target yesterday and totally eyeing a couple of the plaid shirts. I didn't buy anything but it made me realize that it's probably note safe for me to go shopping right now because I may not have as much self control if it only gets better from there.... ;)

how funny! I just bought two plaid boyfriend button down shirts from American eagle - they're SO SOFT. and a matching scarf... and a blue cargo jacket.... I've clearly been waiting for fall.

I'm a fan of the plaid and the faux fur! I especially love the vest because it is a great transition from warm to cool weather! Like this week when it was 80 in NYC and then 60!

I LIKE this post because everything you showed was wearable! All too often the 'fall fashion trend' posts are so ridiculously impractical that I end up disliking them because I think "Wouldn't that get caught in sliding doors on the subway?" or "Is she even able to SEE under those bangs?!" <-- huge party pooper when it comes to fashion I know haha But the pictures you posted were super cute! :D

I'm a big plaid lover! I just ordered a new plaid top from Old Navy that I'm excited to wear. And Court, you could totally pull off a fur vest with a casual shirt + jeans for a weekend outfit!

plaid has been one of my staples for years...and that's prob the only one of the above that fits my style. fringe i don't mind if it's a suede purse...and suede i don't mind if it's a purse or boots. otherwise, i'm basically sporty spice all the way. :)
