Hey, heyyyy, friends! Did everyone have a fabulous weekend?
Ours was great! The weather was beautiful, we got OUT of the house, we got to see friends…all sorts of fun stuff rolled into a few short days.
As I mentioned in Friday’s post, Friday started out with a fun field trip to Liberty Ridge Farm with Lucas’s preschool class.
I don’t think I’d ever been there before, but the farm was FILLED with all sorts of activities for the kids to do! We started out with a trip through the shorter of their two corn mazes (this one took about 10 minutes, the second apparently can take up to an hour?!).
My big guy getting so tall! <3
After the corn maze, we made our way over to their huge activity area, including an underground slide which Lucas obviously hated…. ; )
It was quite crowded the day we went, so we weren’t able to get to everything, but they had trolley rides, a discovery barn, swings, slides, and ride on cars, just to name a few!
They even had pig races, which all of the kids seemed to enjoy. They were pretty adorable.
Lucas & his buddies!
It turned out to be a really great morning, and I’m so glad I was able to go with Lucas.
As for Saturday, the morning was spent at home hanging around and playing outside. Then after nap time, we made our way over to Indian Ladder Farms (which we also visited a few weeks ago for Lucas’s other school field trip!) to meet up with our good friends, Kanika, Shaheen, and their kiddos.
Again, since the weather was so beautiful, the place had quite a crowd and there was even a live band playing outside in their brewery/cidery area. So since we got there a little earlier, we decided to stop and hang out there and grab a drink while we waited.
Lucas clearly was not amused and just could not wait for his buddy Kaura to arrive. : -D
But eventually they made it, and all was right in the world.
We just love this crew!
Since the area we were in had a great spot for the kiddos to play and run around, we wound up hanging out a bit longer and grabbed a few more drinks.
Including a nice little flight of cider.
While I did enjoy the dry hard cider (which I first had back on the 4th of July), oddly enough, we all agreed that the other ciders in the flight all sort of reminded us of…pickle juice?!
It really was strange, but almost all of them smelled like pickles and some of them even had a weird pickle taste. What does that even meeeeean?!?
Regardless, we were all having such a great time that we wound up never even leaving the Biergarten area and even just ordered some quick dinner items off their menu to make things easy.
Such a great time!
Sunday was another busy day, starting out with a birthday party for one of Lucas’s preschool buddies.
The party was at Chuck E. Cheese, which Lucas has been to with my parents before and loved, but on Sunday he encountered Chuck E. walking around and he was NOT a fan. Like legit scared with tears and asking to go home. Thankfully, we were able to stick it out for the rest of the party (just as long as we stayed FAR away from Chuck E.!) but mannn, that was unexpected!
Then again, considering how he was with meeting Santa last year, I guess I shouldn’t be TOO surprised…
Shortly after the party was over, we had some special visitors on Sunday afternoon…our cousins Brian and Mal, and their sweet girl, Emmy!
Thanks for the pic, Lucas!
Both of the boys were VERY interested in “the baby” (and, funny enough, our meet up came right on the heels of Lucas telling me “wants a baby girl”). HA! Ohhh buddy…don’t think so. You can enjoy your baby girl cousin.
We were totally spoiled with having Brian and Mal over because not only did we just get to see them, but they also came bearing FOOD. And you guys may already know by now that Mal can cook and bake like no other!
She brought a big batch of the famous Mal’s Easy Chili (<– a blog favorite for years now!)…
Along with some Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars for dessert.
Ummmm, I just love her. <3
Once Brian, Mal, and Emmy headed back home, we ended the evening with a little play before it was tubby- and bed time.
As you’ve likely been reading, we’ve been having a lot of “low key” weekends at home lately; and while they’re nice and all, it really was so nice to both get out of the house and get to see some great friends this weekend! Getting around with both kiddos isn’t always easy for us, but we’re still figuring it out, and so happy that it’s finally starting to get just a weeeee bit easier.
Hope you all have a GREAT week ahead, I’ll catch up with ya soon!
Aww, sounds like you had a great weekend!! All of those pictures are just so cute! I love the one of Lucas in that huge chair! He looks like a king! :) Hope you are having a great Monday! xoxo
Looks like so much fun! I love your hairstyle BTW! I’ve been saving that chili recipe but can never find the Bush’s chili starter anywhere. Have a great day, Courtney!
I actually just updated the recipe today! I asked Mal about this over the weekend because I hadn’t been able to find it either, so she’s been using Bush’s kidney beans in mild chili sauce instead!
I don’t like chunky cheese either! He hit me with his tail one time so I threw a skeeball at him! Dang rats!
Ohhhh two kids. I hear ya! Sometimes it’s just easier to stay home. My husband is heading out of town for 2 weeks and I’ve already declared we are not making any plans, lol. It’s hard enough with two parents! But I’m so glad you got out of the house and had lots of fall fun!
Lucas must get his love of “characters “ from his Mom! I’d i remember correctly, you were not a fan of Chuck E either! ❤️
Hahaha! He a scurry looking Pizza rat amiright? His friends are scurry as well!
Love your hair! Cider that taste like pickles though, that doesn’t quite seem right. Ha ha.
It sounds like the cider wasn’t aged long enough. Cider takes a lot of conditioning, so if it has been rushed it may have an odd taste/smell; usually from sulfer.
I don’t have any kiddos, and sometimes I find just getting MYSELF out of the house on the weekends can be a chore! Also, those chocolate chip cheesecake bars look like absolute heaven. I’m needing something to bring to my work’s potluck next week. Those might have to be it.
Oh, those cookie bars looks divine. Would Mal be willing to share the recipe? Thanks so much. Have a great day.
Sue
Indian Ladder Farms sounds amazing! We do farms and beer really well here in Wisco, but I don’t think we have any farms that also offer cider flights! Even if they do taste like pickles, this would be such a fun thing to do with our friends and their kids!
Looks like a super fun weekend!
