Hey, friends! How’s the week going so far?
Jay was gone for a couple of days for work, so it was just me and the boys! But we’re glad to have daddy back home. <3
We’ve had some baseball, some outside fun, and even some snuggle time, which I will never, ever turn down!
And we’re also getting ready for a certain someone who’s going to be turning THREE next week. Seems impossible!!
To switch things up a bit, I thought I would put together a list of some of my favorite summer wardrobe staples. I always seem to get really positive feedback when I share anything fashion-related (you’re all so sweet), so here’s a list of my top picks all in one place!
I find that I tend to do a lot of my summer shopping at either Old Navy, Target, or Banana Republic. Of course, there are other places I shop now and then, but I’m usually looking for cheaper, no-frills pieces to be able to lounge around in during the summer (and dress up or down depending on if I’m wearing for work or at home!), and these stores have always done right by me.
Old Navy
Go ahead and get that Fast Cash ready!!! (If you have it, it’s good through June 9th!)
The Slim Fit High Neck Tank (in solid) is, by far, one of my FAVORITE tops. I first discovered these tops last summer, and they’re perfect for layering, wearing solo, and dressing up/down.
They also have a striped Slim Fit High Neck Tank, too, if stripes are your thing!
The Luxe High Neck Swing Tank from Old Navy is another favorite, although it looks like they’re only limited to having it in black right now. Even still, if they have it in your size right now, snag it. It’s another one that’s great for layering and is a little more flowy if that’s what you’re looking for.
If you’re looking for some shorts this summer, I’d highly recommend the Mid-Rise Twill Shorts (5 inch inseam). I purchased them last year, and they’re super comfy, while also being a good “mom” length, ha!
Along those same lines, I’ve also been a huge fan of their Mid-Rise Linen Blend Shorts for a few years now, too. The elastic waistband was a dream postpartum!!
I also really love their Mid-Rise Cuffed Denim Shorts and their Mid-Rise Denim Shorts (5 inch inseam). These shorts here are from Old Navy from a few years ago, but they’re still working!
Last, the Sleeveless Jersey Swing Dress from Old Navy is another top pick.
I have this dress in black, too, and it’s perfect for basically everything. I can dress it up and wear it to work, pair it with a cardigan, etc. And I’ve also worn it on weekends for casual outings, paired with flip flops or some cute tennis shoes.
Banana Republic (Factory)
I’ve already mentioned these before, but the Timeless Crew Neck Tee and the Timeless V-Neck Tee have become my favorite t-shirts. I own probably 6-7 of them right now in various colors and would probably wear one everyday, if I could. I am definitely a jeans + t-shirt kinda gal, although they also pair really well with a maxi skirt, too!
A couple other favorites that are a step up from a basic tee include this Sleeveless Side-Tie Top, as well as this Shrine Trim Tank.
As for shorts, the Denim Roll-Cuff Shorts are a great pair, and these Denim Roll Cuff Shorts from Loft are probably one of my favorites. They fit SO well (they’re the shorts pictured above with the white slim fit Old Navy top!).
Last, but not least, I’ll also add in my love for the Sloan Skinny Fit Pant from Banana Republic. I wear these ALL the time for work in the summer since they’re a bit cropped and pair well with a blouse.
Got any favorite summer wardrobe pieces? Feel free to share details below!

These are all great pieces! High-necked tanks are my favorites, too! I’m also a fan of wedge sandals; not only are they usually comfortable, but they pair well with shorts, capris, leggings, dresses, etc!
Courtney says
Totally agree on the wedges! I tend to have trouble finding ones that aren’t super tall though (since I’m already tall enough lol!) so if you have any favorites that are mid-height, let me know!!

Love this post! I am on the hunt for some basic tees, are the banana republic ones longish in length??
Courtney says
Yes!!!

Love those tanks! I have the roll shorts from Banana Republic, as well as their 5” shorts and they’re great. I’ve been wearing those v-necks for years too! I’d love some more ideas on work tops, I alternate between dressing up tanks/ts with cardigans and button downs. Also – what’s that drying rack in your room? I hang a ton to dry and it looks promising!
Courtney says
I LOVE our drying rack!! We got it as a gift, but I’m pretty sure this one from Amazon is almost the same thing :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1WPLX3/ref=twister_B0746R4RVV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Great picks! Are the white tops see-through, do they need a cami underneath? I’ve been searching for a white tee that doesn’t require one. Thanks!
Courtney says
If I wear the white tees with a nude colored bra then I haven’t found them to be too see-through at all!

I’m obsessed with those tanks and the swing dress! I think I have the swing dress in every colour and in long sleeve too! I wear it with a big blanket scarf and booties in the fall/winter! So great!
Such great finds girl! Looking amazing

Love these suggestions. I recently bought some tank tops similar to those at Kohls for the summer. I love them for both casual wear and sometimes wear them to the gym too. I also got 3 new pairs of jeans shorts this summer which was much needed. Definitely a jeans and t-shirt person outside of needing to wear work clothes and blouses.

I finally just gave in and ordered a couple of the popular Madewell whisper tanks when I saw them on sale for 2 for $25. I love v neck tees, and was looking for v neck tanks and just not seeing other (cheaper) options, but 12.50 each didn’t seem too bad! Free shipping by joining their loyalty program too! Felt like a good deal haha
Have a good weekend :) PS where do I get tickets to the gun show?! :-P

Where did you get that brown belt? I have been looking for one for so long!
Courtney says
Oh man, it’s SO old!! I think it was from American Eagle though???
