It’s always a good weekend when you get to spend some time with some of your favorite cousins.
And that’s exactly what I got to do for a few hours yesterday afternoon, while celebrating our cousin Meghan at her baby shower!
I really wish I had taken more pictures of the décor because it was just beautiful. I did wind up getting to come home with a couple of hand-painted mason jars (which I forgot to take a picture of) but they match our house perfectly so I was super excited.
Since we were celebrating and all, we thought it was a perfect excuse for some bubbly…
Which went quite well with some delicious chicken parm and, of course, cake.
Yummmm.
It was a really nice few hours out of the house, and it’s always fun when the girls get together <3
As for the rest of the weekend? Not a whole lot going on, actually. My dad came over on Saturday morning to help Jay with cutting down some more of the trees and brush in the backyard, which I feel will likely be a forever project.
And my mom came along, too, and hung out with me and the boys. Compared to what the weather had been recently, Saturday was chilly!
Saturday also included a solo trip grocery shopping (woooo!) and a quick stop at TJ Maxx, which resulted in some of my first Christmas gifts of the season. Eeeek!
Daylight savings had us up at about 6:15 with Lucas, which wasn’t too bad (although it would have been nice if he got the memo from Alex and slept until 7:30), since it also gave me a little extra time to cook up a batch of apple bread I’d been wanting to bake.
And thanks to a little rough-housing with the boys later Sunday morning, we also wound up with a full mug of coffee spilled all over the living room rug, blankets, books…Yes, that was fun, and also resulted in a little unanticipated cleaning.
Sunday also included lots of play time (and seriously, these two just make my heart melt sometimes)…
A little prep for some chicken and rice soup…
And even a quick stop by Target to check out the new Hearth & Hand line by my pals, Chip and Joanna.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a ton of time to really browse, but I did see some super cute stuff, so I’ll likely be back to check it out again some time in the near future. : )
How about you guys? What was fun and exciting?
Christmas shopping is underway in my house, too. We’re expecting our second little one any day, so I’ve been laying low and online shopping away!
That sounds like a great weekend! I love that La Marca prosecco :) And I am SO excited to go to Target on my lunch break at work today to check out Chip and Joanna’s new line!
Yayyy for Christmas shopping!! I went out yesterday and I think the whole entire world was out too, so I settled with online shopping once I got home. Haha ;) It sounds like you had a good weekend, that cake for sure looks like it was delicious! I didn’t really do anything fun and exciting this weekend, besides start decorating for Christmas…which my husband was not thrilled about by the way, oops! Have a great Monday!! Xoxo
Laughed at the rough-housing. I have two boys and a girl. I swear I don’t have glass in 75% of my picture frames anymore because they’ve broken them. I gave up and just leave the pictures in the frames with no glass. Once they are out of my house, I’ll replace them.
Do you have a recipe for the apple bread? It looks and sounds tasty!
Sure! This is the one I used – not bad! https://www.thehappierhomemaker.com/apple-cinnamon-bread/
Okay, now I want chicken parm and cake. Also, that apple bread looks so yummy! A highlight of my weekend was attending a gala on Friday night with my guy and also running my first 10k race on Saturday! The rest of the weekend was spent lounging and eating a lot of pizza. Juuuuust the way I like it!
Our weekend was pretty similar- lots of hanging out at home relaxing!
Girl i want that chicken perm, cake a prasecho too! How did the chicken noodle soup turnt out?’let us know!
