Fun Facts Friday {10/11}

By Courtney 46 Comments

1. I started drafting this post up on Monday with the intention of gradually coming back and fillings things in when they came to me. I didn’t come back to it until last night.

2. The other day (when I was stuck in the car) one of the radio stations was having a throwback lunch hour. First song I heard was “Puppy Love” by Bow Wow…and the next song to follow was “The Thong Song” by Sisqo. Talk about bringin’ it back to the high school years! I love when I have memories behind certain songs.

3. This weekend, we’re hoping to get Lucas his Halloween costume. I’m so excited, and yet, we still can’t even decide on what we want him to be. No surprise there.

4. This weekend, we’re also planning on heading out to Chowderfest! (wow, that was from three years ago!) It’s always so much fun, and the weather is supposed to be great, so it should (hopefully) be a great day to take the babe in the stroller and enjoy some chowder.

5. I’ve been toying with the idea of cutting my hair again. It feels just so long and…blah these days. Part of me wants to totally change things up – color and all. We’ll see if I really have the balls to do it though.

6. Have you guys heard about these new Godiva truffles?

*Full disclosure: I was asked to share this video in a blog post as part of a promotion, but after seeing the video and reading about the product, I totally needed to get my hands on a box. Soooo, I agreed to share…and then I ordered some.

godiva

The cake truffle flight, to be exact. Can’t WAIT to see how these babies taste. Mmm mmmmm.

7. Yesterday, I did some major damage at Old Navy. And it was awesome. Gotta love the Stuff and Save event!

IMG_3738

Yes, I bought both the button up and the vest!

Besides picking up the occasional top at Target here and there, it was my first real shopping trip for non-maternity clothes in well over a year. I’m really in need of new clothes for work, so since I can’t live in yoga pants forever (why? WHY??) I’m trying to restock the wardrobe.

8. The winner of the Love Grown Foods giveaway has been chosen!

love1love2

Congrats to Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves! Please email me at sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com with your shipping info so we can get your goodies sent to you!

9. If it wasn’t for a friend on Facebook just recently sending me a message about them, I would have totally forgotten all about my Apple Cider Cupcakes with Apple Cider Cream Cheese Frosting. Umm, yeah. If I can get my act together, I am soooo making these this weekend.

10. Did you guys know Trader Joe’s has pumpkins for only $3.99?? I stopped by yesterday and was super psyched to see them for that price…I feel like they’re usually closer to $8-10 anywhere else I look?

11. I’m looking forward to having a beer tonight. Just sayin’.

12. Have you guys heard about the nibble cake pan?

Talk about a genius idea. Need to get my hands on one of those ASAP.

13. I can’t do a Fun Facts Friday anymore without sharing a picture of Lucas.

IMG_3740

And good news! He apparently did “great” with the babysitter yesterday! And actually, I should stop referring to her as a “babysitter” because it’s our good friend Erika who will be watching him. We did have another sitter all lined up, but a few weeks ago I had a breakdown and decided I just couldn’t send him to a stranger. I know many people do, and it’s totally fine…and I’m sure the woman we met with before is fantastic…but I just couldn’t do it. I’m having a hard enough time as it is. So it really just worked out so great and Lucas will be going to daycare with Erika and her little girl Sophie. He’ll have a friend to hang out with everyday…and that helps mama feel slightly better. Smile

That’s all I’ve got today, friends! Happy Fridayyyyy!

Yay! So glad to hear Lucas did well with your friend Erika ... I bet that takes a lot of worry off of your shoulders. And, speaking of Lucas, is it just me or does he get cuter by the minute?! I'm with you on the hair cut thing ... my hair has been feeling "blah" lately too. While I'd like to cut it a little shorter, I'm trying to keep it long for a wedding I'll be in next February. I think if you're looking to make a more drastic change, maybe start by just cutting off some of the length and seeing how you like that. Then, you can play around with color ... just a thought! I've also been shopping around a little more the past couple months in an attempt to "freshen up" my wardrobe. I feel like I wear the same style of clothes all.the.time and really want a change. So far, I've found some great deals at LOFT (which I love), but I would really like to get to Old Navy as well. LOVE your outfit from there ... you are looking wonderful lady! Have a great weekend, and enjoy the weather! I know I will ... it's not too often that we have such nice weather in Upstate New York this time of year!

I can't wait to see what you pick up Lucas for Halloween! Babies in costumes are just too cute for words. Oh man, the good ol' throw back songs. Some of them are just ridiculous and I totally used to love them. Have a fun weekend! And definitely enjoy that beer:)

Um, that cake pan is GENIUS. I was just in that predicament a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to make sure a cake tasted OK before an event, but I didn't want to sneak a taste and ruin the look of it! And I'm so glad you were able to line up a friend to watch him! I'm sure that's a huge relief!

I don't blame you for not wanting to leave him with someone you don't know!! I'd feel weird about doing that too. Yum to pumpkin anything. There's this place I like to go in the fall for Apple Fritters, made fresh everyday with the apples they grow (you can pick your own apples to buy too), and I just got an awesome idea, they should totally make pumpkin fritters/donuts!!! Can't wait to see what you pick for Lucas to be :D! Have a great Friday!!

I still had other jobs (working at a salon, personal training, substitute teaching) during a lot of that time so we had other income. With a baby at home, expenses are higher now too and we just do better as a two income family.

I know how you feel with the hair! I have been saying since 2 years ago after my wedding that my hair was long and blah...it took me over 2 years to finally schedule an appointment. I went with a long bob so it wasn't TOO short and I love it! It is nice to have a style again instead of just letting my hair hang. Love the picture of little Lucas!! Glad you have a babysitter you are comfortable with :)

I know what you mean about wanting to do something drastic with your hair but then always kind of chickening out at the last minute -- story of my life. I've actually been wanting to try out a pixie cut for years now, but the idea of cutting off all my hair and then having to worry about it going through those awkward growth stages just... yeah, no. Can't do it. And I'm pretty sure that I'd be the same way when it came time to give my kids over to a babysitter. Glad to hear that Lucas did great though :D

Awww! Going back to work is so hard!! I cried my eyes out for a week. I actually told the sitter not to tell me any of the "firsts" that Mackenzie had, i.e. first rollover, first raspberry, first "da da", etc. That way when I saw her do it it was like it was the first time she did it. I didn't want to be heartbroken that I missed out on a milestone.

Love Old Navy! Cute vest! I too am thinking about a change-up for my hair!! It's SO long! I always do this...it gets long, so I cut it....then I want it long again so I grow it out, etc, etc, etc. Last time I donated it (the ponytail has to be I think 8 or 10 inches!) so that made my decision pretty easy! It's great you'll be leaving Lucas and he'll have a friend. Even interaction between kids at that age is important!! :) -Sammy @ www.peaceandloveandicecream.com

I definitely feel like my wardrobe is in desparate need of a facelift - most of the clothes I feel like I have had since high school (which was already almost 4 years ago!) I hope that once the semester is done, I'll have some extra money. But right now, its down to the essentials. =) I am getting my hair done tomorrow! I'm planning to go DARK, with a warm, reddish tone. The cut? I'm not quite sure!

Ok just reading the words apple cider makes me crave an apple cider donut like crazy! Hahah That cake pan seems like a great idea but wouldn't that little piece bake way faster than the batter in the pan? Although maybe that's why the silicone thing is removable, so u can take it out first. I wish I had that little piece when something went wrong w a cupcake order I did and decorated so awesomely... Only for the cake to taste weirdly cocoa powdery and not right at all. Ugh!

I have to do some clothes shopping as well! All my pants are too loose but my blouses are too tight across the girls (who knew that would ever be an issue??) I also had a panic attack right before starting him at the daycare. I did a spot check one day and let's just say it wasn't good. Fortunately a good friend of ours was able to watch him until now and we lined up another place. Some days, if you are busy at work, the day will fly and won't be so bad. There are other days, when he's most snuggly in the morning, that you'll have a melt down on the way to work and you'll miss him terribly. It doesn't get easier. I wish I could say it did. I swear I run the numbers in my head every day to see if I could manage to stay home with him. The only thing I will say is he seems to enjoy the company of the other kids at daycare and that at least makes me feel good. Good luck!
