1. So…a little Lucas sleep update for you all. We are still paci-free (as we intend to be), and are still working hard at getting him accustomed to his new bed. However, although there are no tears putting him to bed at night, he almost immediately gets up and out of bed…only to fall asleep in his rocking chair.
For the past three nights I’ve had to go in before we go to bed and transfer him back to the bed…but at some point during the night, he still winds up back in the chair. It’s hilarious, and I’m just trying to remind myself that it’s still all very new to him and that he’s gotta figure it out eventually. Right?
2. Caramel Brulee syrup is baaaaaack at Starbucks!
I get all warm inside just thinking about it.
3. So the other day we were going through some old pictures and I happened to come across these two. Aaaaand in case you’re wondering, no, that is not Lucas. It is Jay.
However, I think there’s no denying that Lucas is a spitting image of his daddy. So much so that my MIL (yes, Jay’s mom) actually thought it was Lucas in the pictures. TOO funny!
4. Did you guys see that Oprah announced her new Favorite Things list? I’ll take one of all of ‘em, thankyouverymuch.
5. Soooo, let’s talk chocolate cake for a quick sec. Or, rather, chocolate cobbler to be exact. Earlier this week, I showed Jay a pin that I added to Pinterest and joked around that he needed to make it for me. Well, wouldn’t you know…he made me the cobbler.
And topped with a little vanilla ice cream? Hooooooly crap, this. stuff. is. amazing. Healthy, it is not, but you just don’t think about that part when you’re eating it and it’s all good.
Definitely try ittttt.
6. I mean, it was totally okay since I made a batch of Crockpot Veggie Stew this week so I’ve still been eating my veggies.
7. Anyone watch the CMA’s on Wednesday night? More specifically, did you guys see the amazing performance that was Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton?? SO GOOD.
8. I’ve been mixing it up a bit on the workout front this week and trying some barre videos online. Whew, they are NO joke! If anyone has any favorites, PLEASE share ‘em with me! I want to find some more good ones without having to go buy anything just yet.
9. I tried out some new ChapStick this week and, I’ve gotta say…I’m sorta loving it!
ChapStick sent me over a couple tubes of their Total Hydration 100% Natural, and so far I’ve tried the soothing vanilla which was just fab. They’re made with Argan oil, which is clinically proven to provide healthier and more youthful looking lips, but I just love that it goes on smooth, doesn’t have a funky after taste, and keeps my smackers feeling hydrated.
I’m definitely enjoying it, so thanks, ChapStick!
10. The Rollercoaster That is Parenthood. Moms and dads, give it a read.
11. Would ya believe that we’re less than 3 weeks away from Turkey Day?? I’m sure many of you are already gearing up and starting to plan your menus, so if that’s the case, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to get that turkey for a discount…or even for free?? Well, thanks to Jennie-O, I’ve got the chance for a lucky STSL reader to win $30 in Jennie-O coupons!

So the absolute worst part of reading blogs? I get dangerously strong cravings haha! And I don’t even LIKE CHOCOLATE.
Lucas is so sweet in the chair at night. I’m sure it’s a big transition. And the CMAs- amazing! That performance was incredible!
Happy Friday! So glad it’s the weekend and I can’t believe we are so close to Thanksgiving!
I love barre videos so much! There are so many great ones. Sorry, not trying to spam you but I did do a review in case you are interested in reading it: http://www.myownbalance.com/2015/10/07/best-barre-workouts-at-home/ :)

I can’t believe Jay made you the cobbler! That is so sweet & thoughtful of him. I love that!

ok so that creme brulee is worth getting?! i wasn’t sure!! something nice is that we have no plans this weekend… excited for something low key!!
There is so much to be thankful for…especially because I just read that they were wrong about the cocoa plant going extinct! We will have chocolate forever!!
I hope you have a great weekend and that cobbler looks and sounds so yummy!
Wait, wait, wait… that chocolate cobbler is not real. I need it! Love the throwback pictures of Jay, they look like brothers for sure! Also, that veggie stew looks delicious. Have a great weekend Courtney!
I love the pictures of Lucas in the rocker, my 4 year old was the same when we transitioned. We would find him in his chair, on the floor, once or twice in the closet ha! The good thing is it definitely did end and he started sleeping in his bed all night so hang in there momma!
I am so grateful for the weekend, I have been away from my husband for 5 months and the weekend means we are one week closer to being reunited!
Oh my, parenting definitely involves working the night shift as well.
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is so close. I will be traveling with two kids alone to visit family and am nervous! Hubby is out to sea…
I love those chapsticks! I always keep one in my purse and it works wonders!
My 3 year old told me yesterday that she’s “the luckiest in the world because she has the bestest parents”
That dessert looks fabulous! I might have to put that on the agenda this weekend!
How fun that your adorable little boy resembles your husband so much!!
This is my first married thanksgiving and when I told my parents I would be spending it with my in-laws, they were so supportive. Maybe too supportive… They immediately booked flights and invited themselves. So now I get to have both of my families together for the holiday!
those pictures of Jay are too cute! You should find a side by side frame and put a picture of him and Lucas at this age together :-)
My mantra this week has been, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”. It’s been powering me through, so I thought I would share! Have a wonderful weekend!
My nice thing is I’m figuring out the mermaid blanket that I’m crocheting for a friend and it’s actually coming out really cute! I can’t wait to mail it to her
Oh my chocolate cobbler. I need
This in my life ASAP!
I am so impressed/jelly that your sweet husband made you that yummy cobbler!! It looks totally drool worthy.
That is so funny! He’s probably waking up in his bed being like “what? why am I here?” and then moves back to his chair. At least you know he must be comfortable there! ;)
Looking forward to giving EXTRA bits of thanks this year with a special announcement!
So impressed you guyes are still goiNg strong with no paci! Also that dessert looks amazing! I am going to surprise my husband with it tonight :)
My grandma surprised me with a care package yesterday, and it was exactly the boost I needed after all the midterm studying I’ve been doing the last couple weeks <3 Have a wonderful weekend!
Caramel brûlée frappuccinos are amazing!
Props to you for making progress with getting rid of the pacifier!
I love coupons! I have cooked Thanksgiving dinner for the past couple years and for the first time I am not super stressed about. Thanks for the giveaway.
PS, props to you for being so positive about your son’s bedtime situation. I have a three year old son and an 18 month old daughter and sometimes when it gets tough, all you can do is laugh. <3
Haha, Lucas in the rocker. Well at least youre not the one waking up with a stiff neck. Poor guy!
That article on parenthood is spot on. Gosh, my life. Lather, rinse, repeat EVERYDAY! Why do I feel like I’m the only one though?
That crock pot veggie stew sounds delicious. I just need it to get cool enough here in Charleston. Still too hot out. I totally forgot about the CMA awards. Probably because I was too buy trying to catch up on season3 of nashville. Sucks me in!
Happy Friday! Now I know what I need to make this weekend…chocolate cobbler!
His sleeping habits are hilarious. Maybe the rocking chair is more comfy?
I hadn’t even thought about thanksgiving, oh my gosh only three weeks away. This holiday season is going to fly by! I’d love the turkey coupons!
My husband starts ten days off today before he starts a new job-lots of family time!
I’d love to win the Jennie-O coupons. I actually like Jennie-O products, but rarely buy much of it (just simply because I forget). This will be my 1st Thanksgiving with my hubby (married 8.17.15) and we’d definitely use them towards a turkey! We are fairly poor, being that we are newlyweds, so the coupons would help! We are going to cook/bake for ourselves and have a traditional meal and can’t wait!
LOVE the favorites things list! Happy Friday!
Happy Friday! I love mixing up my workouts, too. You might’ve already heard about it, but a great resource for reviews on various exercise videos is this blog: http://2lazy4gym.com/
I love Jennie-O’s turkey products, and I try to use coupons as much as I can. :-)
Enjoy your weekend!
Lucas is so cute! That’s hilarious how he prefers his chair over his bed. Happy Friday!
Sweet boy! LOVE the updates!
Chocolate Cobbler! Is this a real thing? :) I need that like yesterday!
Have a Great Weekend!
Have a great weekend, Courtney! I am looking forward to going to the Wisconsin Dells this weekend and spending the whole weekend scrapbooking/making cards in a cabin with my friends. A much needed get away.
For barre workouts – I love the ones on Jessica Smith’s YouTube channel. They’re low impact, but definitely challenging. I actually did the kickboxing/barre one this morning! And the best part, of course, is that they’re totally free.
Oh my! My husband would LOVE that chocolate cobbler! I better make it this weekend! :)
Get outside, miracles are waiting everywhere!
Always behave like a duck. Keep calm and unruffled on the surface, but paddle like hell underwater.
Oh, and my story about Chocolate Cobbler?
The first time I tried to make it, I was out my granny’s house – she keeps all her baking ingredients in UNLABELED tins (b/c, ya know, SHE knows which is what, and I”m sure you know where this is going….)
The family was all waiting for the gooey warm Chocolate Cobbler…we anticipated…I took a bite…I used SALT instead of sugar!!!
Blah. We had to laugh. Alas, I have not reattempted that recipe yet. I’m too scarred…ha ha jk.
Is that chocolate cobbler real life? I need it in and around my mouth ASAP.
Yay for being paci-free! I hope the sleep situation continues to improve. Jay is the sweetest for making you that cobbler. Can he make one and send it my way?? ;)
That recipe for the chocolate cobbler looks AMAZING. TGIF. TGFC (thank God for chocolate)
The pics of your son sleeping in the rocker are adorable!
Jennie-O is my favorite!! I love buying their extra-lean ground turkey for my meals! Lucas is such a little ham, but a cute ham at that! :) I’ll have to try that Chapstick out because I’m always losing them and looking for a new one to try out! Have a fabulous weekend my dear!
Happy Friday Courtney! Hope you guys have a great weekend:)
Oh man I need that chocolate dessert asap! Looks delicious!
LIVE, LOVE & LAUGH (and read sweettoothsweetlife blog daily) …. my motto!
Although I’m sure it’s frustrating, I find it adorable that a lucas is findings his way to his chair. Parenthood is so unpredictable :)
I’m so happy you mentioned that Thanksgiving is so close because I’ll be going home for the first time in about a year to celebrate it with my family! I’m from the East Coast and moved to California in January, so I am SO looking forward to seeing my family and experiencing the seasonal weather. And it would be so awesome/hilarious if I could arrive home bearing a free turkey!! Have a great weekend, Courtney! :)
I am going to try that chocolate cobbler this weekend. Looks delicious!
Yum that chocolate cobbler looks so yummy! Might need to make that for my birthday next week :)
Thank you for having such a relatable and real blog. you’re awesome! happy weekend :)
That chocolate cobbler looks amazing!
It’s Friday! Your post of the Starbucks cup made me so happy Starbucks warms my soul yum (oh sweet sugar )
“This too shall pass”, as my Grandma said. Lucas will eventually stay in his own bed. Getting rid of the pacifier is tough!
For safety reasons I would take the rocking chair out of his room for a while.
Happy weekend! That is so cute about Lucas sleeping in his chair!
How adorable!!
I love the popsugar fitness app. They have great 10 minute HITT workouts. Perfect for on the go!
I’m sharing a hotel room bed with my sleeping toddler, which I love because I know it won’t be like this forever.
You are smart, pretty, and people like you! (Isn’t this from some movie? For some reason, this was the first thing that popped into my head when you asked for positive/uplifting comments, but I can’t recall where I’ve heard it before.)
That chocolate cobbler looks amazing! And I’m so glad you tried barre! I fell in love with barre workouts after taking Pure Barre classes and those are now my favorite type of workout in addition to Zumba :)
I’ve been so nervous to transition my son to a toddler bed. But after seeing how adorable Lucas is sleeping in his rocker, I’m not as terrified! Thanks for the chuckles :) parenthood… Always an adventure!
I love Leah Sarago. Check her out! I don’t know if she has free videos or not…Now a question for you…have you ever tried Sata Haley’s sweat unlimited?? If so, was it challenging enough?
I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVE Justin Timberlake. And that brownie cobbler….Oh. My. Gosh! NUM!
Lucas sleeping in his chair is hilarious! We are about to transition our 2 yr old to a bed soon and I’m so nervous! And oh my, that cobbler!! *drool
Be the reason someone smiles today https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=otUJzNtRPhw
That stew looks amazing!! And that cobbler… OMG!! Here’s to many blessings sent your way for the week ahead..
Going to try that stew! Looks amazing!
My FB post from yesterday: Don’t worry about who does or doesn’t like you. If they don’t like you, they don’t matter. Love yourself. You are beautiful!
Its turkey time and we still have sun in Minnesota !, loving that
I’m excited to be co-hosting a baby shower for a friend tomorrow!
I work in a veterinary hospital and there were kittens galore coming in today and I got to snuggle with a few of the cutest ones….usually it’s cranky old cats and dogs so this was refreshing…(:
I love that you’re REAL on this blog. Thanks for sharing your heart! and thanks for the chance to win coupons!
