Fun Facts Friday {12/11}

By Courtney 44 Comments

1. Maternity leggings have made their way back into my life and ALL is right in the world.

IMG_4992

(ignore the mess…) Winking smile Mine are pretty worn, so I think I’m going to need to invest in another pair or two…I’ll say that I’m really intrigued by these leggings with a skirt, and I’m also considering these too.

2. Speaking of maternity/pregnancy, I really owe you guys a bump update, don’t I? I guess I’ll have to get to that next week…already coming up on 15?!

3. I’ve been considering asking for a pair of Hunter boots for Christmas, but I’m curious to hear from those of you who have them. Do you love them? Are they okay for the snow, or meant more for rain?

4. Have you guys seen/heard about the Instagram Husband video?? Jay sent it to me the other day after seeing it on The Chive and I could not. stop. laughing. It is hilarious (and they even have a Tumblr page, too!).

5. You guys…it’s been quite an interesting week of sleep over here for this character. Things have been touch and go since we ditched the paci and wound up with the toddler bed, but it seemed like we had finally found our mojo. Until this week, that is…the child just does not want to sleep in his bed.

IMG_5003_thumb[3]IMG_5004_thumb[3]

The picture on the left was him last night…we put a sleeping bag out on the floor in an attempt to get him to sleep somewhere other than the chair (which is where he slept the TWO nights before that). And then the picture on the right was sent to me by his sitter, where he apparently has slept on the floor the past two days (as opposed to his pack n play, which is right next to him). I mean, I suppose the floor is better than a chair, but really?? And it’s taking him a good 30-60 minutes to finally settle down and go to sleep lately, too.

Ohhh, toddlers. This one should pass soon…right? Winking smile

6. I’m all for a good gender reveal (some of you may remember how we announced Lucas’s with our friends!) but this baseball themed one was too cute!

7. I’ve got some giveaway winners to share today! First, the winner of the $50 Sears gift card: Jennifer!

sears winner_thumb[1]

And the winner of the Bitsy’s Brainfood giveaway is: Laura M.!

Bitsy winner_thumb[1]

Congrats, winners! Please email me at sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com so I can hook you up with your goodies!

8. Want in on ANOTHER awesome giveaway? Sayyy, for Bonefish Grill gift cards?? Well be sure to check out my Facebook page today for an exclusive Facebook-only giveaway! Winking smile

9. Jay is coming right along on our new bench to match our new kitchen table and I’m SO excited! We’re also considering getting chairs that look something like these or these for the rest of the table too, but I still can’t decide on color.

IMG_4994

Details on the table should be coming your way next week so stay tuned!

10. This weekend should be pretty fun! I’m hoping to bake some cupcakes, we  have a family Christmas party, and as long as things go well, we’ll hopefully be heading out to our local “Lights in the Park” with Lucas on Sunday. And then, of course, Monday is ALL about the cookies. Winking smile

11. I’m going to end today’s post asking for all your help on something. There’s a little girl from my area, and her name is Sa’fyre . Two years ago, she lost her entire family to a tragic house fire and was burned on over 75% of her body. Her aunt, who she lives with, bought her a Christmas tree to hang cards and Sa’fyre wants to fill the tree with as many cards as she can get.

The story has been going somewhat viral in our area (you can read a little more here), and it’s been so nice to see something positive happening in the news. So, if you’re sending out cards this year, it’d be awesome if you could send Sa’fyre one, too!

If you’d like to send a card, here’s the address: Sa’fyre Terry , P.O. Box 6126, Schenectady, NY 12306

*****************

Alright guys, I’m off for today! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing! <3

Hunter boots are worth every penny! I love them for rain and am going to give them a whirl as snow boots this year (I bought fleece liners that are heavily). Definitely grab a pair :).

I wore maternity leggings all day every day when I was pregnant with my son. They were the best and so so comfortable. I found a lot of clothes were itchy on my skin when I was pregnant.

I just bought a pair of hunter boots and returned them. They're so cute, but they're so flimsy and the length of them is really weird. They kept hitting right under my knee each step I took. I was certain I would love them since everyone has a pair and swears by them... Am totally disappointed! I got a pair of cute Sorel winter boots instead. Check sorel out!

I actually have the L.L. Bean wellies with their boot socks and really like those. Although, they're nice for when its only a bit cold outside. I have the full Bean boots for when its seriously cold!

Hunter boots are great for any sort of wet weather. And when it's cold, you can get some sock things to put in them to add some warmth. That said, I do find the fit a little funky and absolutely prefer my Sorel boots! I have the Toronto (for everyday boots that still hold up in precipitation) and the Tofino (for serious snow) and LOVE them both.

I've actually see the story of that sweet girl on Facebook so glad people are opening their hearts to her during this season! Love all the work Jay is doing with your dining room table - I've been trying to get my hubby to do the same so here's hoping ! Hope you have a great weekend !

I would suggest trying on the Hunter Boots before you ask for them. Mine are soo incredibly snug in the calf area I can't always fit my pants/jeans into them. I also bought fleece liners to use in the winter and my legs almost don't go into the boot with them on, and my calves aren't even that big!

I bought a pair of Hunters a couple of years ago and I love them. I do wear them in the winter but definitely need the lingers or a pair of leg warmers to go with it. They are really comfortable to just kind of quickly throw on! These are a wardrobe staple in my opinion :)

Once my son was out of a crib, he would sleep mostly on the floor for almost 2 years. He'd make himself a little nest on the floor with a couple of blankets and his pillow.

I got my Hunter boots last winter with fleece liners and they are perfect for snow. So much warmer than anything else I've tried and they keep your feet dry and warm. I have Raynaud's, too, so sometimes my toes lose circulation in the winter if I'm outside for a bit. Not with these! Something about the rubber makes them super insulated! I think you and I are about the same size/proportions, so I'd guess they'll will fit you perfectly.

I really wanted a pair of Hunter boots but couldn't get on board with the price. I found these at target http://m.target.com/p/women-s-classic-knee-high-rain-boots/-/A-14353592 and love them! They're not as shiny as the picture (which I was happy about) and they are great quality. I think they look as nice as Hunter just without the logo. :)

I feel like we have parallel lives! My little guy, Luca, is about the same age as Lucas; he was born July 31st '13. I'm pregnant and will be 15 weeks on Sunday - due June 4th! And we are now dealing with crawling out of the crib! We purchased a twin bed and we are going to tackle that this weekend. He's already been waking up much earlier than normal and he just climbs out of the crib and opens the door and yells "I did it!" All proud of himself! Early wake up calls, as you know, lead to sometimes pretty cranky days! I'm afraid it will get worse with the new bed! We are thinking of putting up a gate to keep him in his room or flipping the door knob and locking him in there. I'm NOT ready as I know it will be quite the big transition! How do you guys keep Lucas in his room now that he's out of the crib? Here you were looking for tips and I'm asking for ones!

Maternity leggings are just about the only thing I wear right now! Best ones I found for comfort and support are the BeMaternity brand they have at Target! I have 3 pairs of the leggings, 2 pairs of the capris and a pair of the yoga pants! Granted, that's from the past two years, for Maddox and now little peanut!

For the past three years I wore my Hunter boots with the snow. I live in Buffalo, NY and between the snow and slush the Hunter boots were a great alternative when the Sorels I wanted sold out before I could order them. I recommend getting the socks that are made for the Hunter boots as they kept my feet warm, otherwise the inside of the boot is not warm enough for the freezing temps.

Have you tried using your essential oils on Lucas? They helped us TREMENDOUSLY with our little guy (3 .5 years). We use a mixture of lavender, peace & calming and valor in coconut oil and rub it on his feet and down his spine. Good luck with the sleep - I have definitely been there!

Hunter boots are great for the rain, but I find that they actually seem to conduct the cold when I wear them in the snow. I even have the boot socks and would wear wool socks, but if I was standing in the snow for a bit while my son was sledding while wearing the Hunter boots, my feet would become PAINFULLY cold. They also don't grip the snow well. Sorel's winter boots are awesome.

I have had my Hunters for 4+ years and love them for cold, rainy days. I have pretty muscular calves so opted for the shorter version - they hit mid calf instead of at the top of my calf- plus they seemed easier to walk in than the tall version. I've worn these boots in my muddy garden, hiking across my large college campus in the rain, and on slushy days with fleece liners- definitely recommend getting a pair! Hope you have a good baking day!

I have two pairs of (kids/half the price) hunter boots that I LOVE for when it's not too cold. I agree with another comment that they seem to conduct the cold. I have the liners that go inside but my feet still freeze in them. I love my sorel's for snow. Lucas is so cute????

I wanted hunter boots for the longest time and I finally caved and bought Bogs instead... I had several people refer me to them instead since they are more tight fitting around the calf and since they are not rubber all the way up they don't get cold from wearing them outside. So far, I love them! They are a bit cheaper than hunters too... I got mine on sale at super shoes for about $80 and wear in rain and snow

I LOVE my hunter boots! I have the tall ones and I wear them all the time. I wear them in the rain and the snow. I live in Chicago so once winter really hits I wear them almost everyday. I have a 2 year old son so not having to worry about the snow and if my feet are going to get wet as I am walking around with him or putting/taking him in/out of the car is awesome. I own snow boots but I haven't worn them in years since I got my hunter boots. If I were you I would get them! You will love them!!! And they are pretty darn comfy too!
