1. The weather this week has been crazy! For three days, we dealt with a cycling mix of rain/sleet/freezing rain/snow and driving just has not been wonderful. Thankfully, the big storm ended in snow so, for now, we’re nestled nicely under a pretty blanket of the white stuff. But I’m sure it won’t be long before it melts again and turns all ugly out there. C’mon Santa, just one year can we have some snow for Christmas?!
2. I’m sure many of you, like me, have Facebook feeds and Instagram feeds that are filled with Christmas trees and kiddos right by them. I’ve been wanting to take some photos with Lucas by the tree but a) he doesn’t sit still, and b) our tree is barricaded in the corner of our living room so he can’t really get too close to it anyways.
BUT, I did recently come across this post, How to Take Photos by the Christmas Tree. It has a lot of photography verbiage, but if that’s your thing, definitely check it out. Seems pretty helpful!
3. I think I have FINALLY figured out a way to wear a scarf that isn’t an infinity one. It’s a miracle!
Sure, I’ve seen all of those things that show you 1,000 ways to tie/wear a scarf, but I could never find them when I needed it. But the other day, I happened to remember one and it is perfect (I can’t find the original image I first saw, but idea #1 in this post is like what I do!). I am so much more excited than I ought to be.
4. We mailed out our Christmas cards earlier this week! It was one of those days where I actually felt like I was on a roll with getting stuff done. I’ll share it with you guys soon, even though I honestly don’t really love them. Haha, go figure.
5. Do you guys ever change the part of your hair around? I’ve changed mine back and forth over the years, and I’m in the midst of trying to change it again right now, but it can be sort of a challenge.
From yesterday, with it attempted to be parted the same way it is in my profile pic above, which looks so much more natural. As a side note, we were reading Highlights magazine, which arrived as an early Christmas gift from my parents to Lucas!
Did you know it’s actually good for your hair? As I’m typing this, I realize that those of you who have never even heard of such a thing probably think I sound crazy. But I’m not the only one…right?
6. Speaking of hair…I know so many of you have been asking me to do a tutorial on how I do my hair and, I promise, I’ve got it on the to-do list! It’s just the actual sitting down to do it, record it, upload it, and share it part that’s a bit tricky to time. I know Ashley feels me on this one…
7. I’ve had my eye on this mug for a few days now and I was this close to buying it, but then I realized Jay still needs ideas for me for Christmas so I told him to buy it. Long (like, suuuuper long) time readers may remember my old Anthropologie mug that broke from my old porcelain sink. It’s not like I really neeeed any more mugs in my cabinet but…it’s just so pretty!
8. I’ve suddenly found myself in a bit of a tiffany blue phase…
I never really noticed it until a couple of my co-workers pointed it out to me, but I sure do have quite a few accessories (including my iPhone case) sporting that color. What can I say? I go through phases.
9. This boy…
Melts my heart. I think I’m going to have to do a random, 17 month update with you all towards the end of the month because he’s just been developing so many new things by the day, and I want to make sure I remember them all! And don’t worry…he only uses mommy’s fork under mommy’s direct supervision.
10. I have the day off from work today! Wheeeee! On the agenda? Some shopping, a trip to BJ’s, more cookie baking, and hopefully some wrapping. Days off these days certainly aren’t for relaxing, but I’m a-okay with that.
Hope you guys all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend! What’s on the agenda? Anything fun and exciting??

I change my part once a year or so because my hair starts to get really flat on top if I don’t. It is a process, a couple bad hair days for sure.
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner a says
I asked for that mug too :) I can’t wait for the hair video. I have a colic so my part has pretty much always been the same. Happy Friday!
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely says
That’s a good bit of snow! Wow! I struggle with how to tie normal scarf too, so I’m definitely going to have to check out that tutorial. Mine always end up looking ridiculous!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
ok i need to check out that scarf thing because i, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to wear non-infinity scarves!

We don’t have any snow here in Michigan and it’s so strange! I’m slightly ok with it at the moment, but hope we get some for the holiday. I’m also wrapping, baking and prepping today. No such thing as a day off with little ones and Christmas around the corner, ha! That’s ok though.

My son is 17 months old too and I love seeing how much he learns and does on his own. What is it about the “mommy fork” that they love so much?! Enjoy your day off!
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
Hi Courtney! Hey, I love that picture of Lucas by the tree. You didn’t need any kind of fancy photo lingo or tips. ;) I’ve tried to change my part before! It worked for a while, but then I felt like I just didn’t look like myself in photos. That sounds so dumb, but it bothered me. So I eventually reverted back. Maybe I’ll try it again someday… who knows!

Ditto on the complaints about the snow, from a fellow upstate New Yorker. Driving this week has been no fun … thankfully, the plows have been out in full force doing their best to keep roads clear for us.
Love that purple top and scarf combo! I too have never been good at tying scarves (I don’t wear them a whole lot anyway), but I did recently that you can tie the ends together to make a pseudo-infinity scarf. It actually works pretty well … I wore one for our engagement photos a couple months ago.
I’ve never changed the part in my hair, but I have thought about it. Guess it just seemed like too much of a chore for me to bother with it lol. I remember the process of growing out my bangs when I was ~15 or so … what a pain!
Enjoy your day off, and have a wonderful weekend Courtney! :)

Loving that scarf!!!

I seriously love that iPhone case! I wish I had the 6 (still at the 5s). Happy day off!

I try to change my hair part and it ends up just going back to the way I usually part it!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
I try to change my part, but I have a little bit of a cowlick and my hair seems set on being in one place. All my accessories – phone, water bottle, etc. are purple so I totally get it. Have a great day off!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I had no idea changing your part around was good for your hair… interesting and good to know! Haha, and yes, totally feel you on the whole process of getting a video tutorial posted. Gotta find the perfect timing and then deal with the technology side of things…gah!
Enjoy your day off!! Sounds like a fun and festive day. :) I have to work on packing for all of us (blah) and then off we head to California!

It always hurts my scalp when I switch up my part LOL – strange I know
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I feel you on the changing your part. I really want to change mine, but it’s just so awkward at first. ahhaaha #thestruggleisreal Happy Friday!

I had no idea about hair parting! I’m totally going to change mine now, I never have before!
Shawna says
i totally went through the whole “how do i even go about changing my part” thing a couple of years ago, and then in the last year or two i decided doing my hair was no longer part of my life…so now it just falls however it wants. and i’m okay with that. i think the older i get, the more my little hippie side takes over. :)
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
I had no idea that changing your part was a good thing – I don’t think I’ve ever really changed mine. Maybe I need to do that!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
We considered the barricade, but instead we just decided to put the ornaments only on the top half of the tree. It’s not such a bad thing though since we’re kinda’ short on ornaments anyway. Enjoy the day off. I have next Friday off, and I can’t wait!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
I think my hair ends up with a different parting every time I wash it!!! That is a super cute pic of him in his high chair, real character!

THANK YOU for the link for the scarf tying. I have looked at other ones and couldn’t figure them out but this one looks pretty simple.
I know what you mean about parting your hair. It always feels weird at first when I do it. Like I have to train my hair.
That pic of Lucas = ADORABLE.
